  • 1:55 we need more celebrity scientists. Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian should be put aside and more people who actually do something that advance our species should be revered and given fame and great respect in our daily lives,

  • @Hotshotter3000 I second that.

  • Essentially Both are right. The information will be kept in black hole but be lost to the universe because u can't escape from black hole.

  • Yeahh.. So many theoretical physics make a bigger scientific contribution but they can walk, they can written down his ideas, they express mathematical his ideas vs a men that he must to development every his mind cause he can't even eat by himselft.

    My respect to Hawking.

  • BLACK HOES SUCK STUFF UP AND WHITE HOES BLOW THINGS OUT..........GIGGITY!!!! : )

  • How is Stephen hawking so smart? And why can he not talk?

  • this is not a battle(not ego),we don't understand the error is well come to physics

  • Comment removed

  • Solution to the HP: info goes into the BH; the BH evaporates; from an inside viewpoint this happens in an infinite time, so info is not lost in a finite amount of time. From the outside, the BH disappears in a finite amount of time, but we cannot time an event inside with a clock outside.

We cannot define an instant in which the info is no longer. Outside is no privileged viewpoint to state that the info inside disappeared in a finite amount of time instead of being there forever.

  • @alexdrudigmail Black Holes don't have an infinite time from within, just very close to it, thus making classical physics useless when trying to predict what happens to matter and energy inside a black hole, but everything that goes inside the black hole is bound to hit the entropy in a finite amount of time, once it reaches the entropy, it is lost, this includes physical information. Unless someone argues that with quatum gravity and involving string theory, Info is able to "filtrate" out.

  • The narrator is being very careless with his use of the word "infinite." If a black hole's gravity were actually infinite it would devour the entire universe at the speed of light! Likewise with "infinitely" small, dense or massive. What he means to say when physics breaks down within black holes is that they *approach* infinities and can no longer be used to predict what is really happening - exactly the way Newton's equations of motion "break down" because of relativity.

  • Scumbag youtube commenter: Given 500 characters to comment on a video containing the most profound ideas human beings have ever concieved - Bickers about title of the show.

  • I am not a quantum physicist but I'm very interested in this subject and have done a lot of reading on it. I have a theory, but I have no way to prove it, that perhaps the single point from which the big bang happened could've been what happens when matter is disintegrated when it enters a black hole. Maybe when energy passes through a black hole it is spewing that energy into another universe or dimension? This would back up Hawking's claim that information is "lost" through black holes

  • @goonerballs you made a theory on a theory, big bang is just a theory. what energy do you mean maybe negative energy, dark energy etc..? another universe and dimensions are theories too. maybe you should stick with a 3rd dimension trying to hypothesis something. don't be a troll like hawking. E=mc2 if there is energy - it has a mass. so what happens when dark energy passes the black hole? as we know dark energy wasn't found yet. same with a big bang theory proved.

  • Its funny because most people who hate hawkings and talk bad about him are CHRISTIANS. So congrats, yer goin to hell!!! ;D

  • Regardless of what is said about Hawking - he still has an obviously vile attitude toward God. It is not surprising, though, considering most cosmologists have similar feelings (Michio Kaku probably being the most outspoken cosmologist when it comes to God).

  • if you dont make mistakes then you honestly never learn.

  • in black holes

nothing becomes everything, and everything becomes nothing.

  • @pk709394 - if there was "nothing" then there would be no gravity and light would be able to pass thru it withou disappearing or being warped

  • they made a show out of this? Through The Wormhole already showed Hawking was proven wrong in it's first season.

  • @illegalmonkey

This is from 2007. Through the Wormhole mades its debut in 2010.

  • How do we know black holes aren't just neutron stars with enough mass to suck in light? If they had infinite mass, wouldn't they suck in everything that ever existed instantly? I don't quite yet believe in black holes, thumbs up if you agree.

  • @graboy12345 i really do not know why people are trying to prove all the time : oh i am better than you, i do not believe in black holes etc. it is not about believing. hawking is enough interesting scientist and he does not needs thumbs up or. If you would be honest scientist you wouldnt need people to follow you, but it always good to share your thoughts..

  • Sad ,pathetic little man in wheelchair's do not have the moral authority nor the power to deny the existence of God.Period

  • @TOLTECAAZTECA What does being in a wheelchair have to do with anything? And how does it make him sad and pathetic? He has ALS you retard. People who use Ad Hominems and think they are a valid argument do not have the moral authority or the power to say anything is "period".

  • 210 upthumbs to 6 down! .. given to a guy who simply asks what if secular science is wack. Amazing and revealing since atheists always brag that their beliefs are swayed by secular science - which contradicts the happy thumb up atheists here. They side with their guru instead of science. Very telling: A) their "atheistic belief foundation built from science" doesn't even exist! B) they don't take themselves seriously C) their faith in science is weak. I've never liked Hawking. Now I do - once.

  • Most famous scientist in the world? Stephen Hawking? Bitch please, Albert Einstein <_<

  • @spior 'In the world' meaning currently existing. Einstein is not in the world. Einstein was in the world.

  • @csbob2010 Yea, but I would still vote for Einstein because he practically changed what we think about physics in a whole. Disregard him being alive or dead.

  • What seems evident is that time is relative. It is relative to what it is measured with such as in Earth's case the Sun.

  • I hope god rid's Hawking of his cursed condition, its so funny how people make fun of him, while we ourselves have just witnessed the smartest human, the greatest scientist, Someones intelligence we will never know because it is too much for us to comprehend, at first he didn't understand his own brain, yet did he know what was stored in his brain, was empty space yet it was space yet to be filled, As now I say again we have witnessed the Ultra-Human, the smartest living creature on Earth.

  • @WeMontageYou I think if you look a little closer, you'll find he has a 'genius'

for physics. Check out his marital life, it is quite strange and extremely

    'common', no genius there.

  • @WeMontageYou Beep Beep Back it up, no doubt he is a very intelligent individual but the odds are that the most intelligent human is an uneducated individual living in third world squaler. I do very much value his opinions on time but when it comes to other fields I do not find him overwhelming intelligent

  • @WeMontageYou No way Albert Einstein was way smarter. He discovered everything he did without any computers or anything like we have today.

  • @WeMontageYou um, the god word. god and science doesn't mix

  • @WeMontageYou So Hawking is the future emperor of mankind tied to his throne?

  • If light is absorbed into the bh, would that mean that the power that brings light to a single point is exactly strong enough to stop time (at that single point)? If Einstein was right, then traveling at the speed of light would mess with the timeline [between the thing(s) or person(s) traveling relative to everything else]. Assuming that is correct, then would slowing light to a stop have the exact opposite affect?

  • Why would it mess with time lines? As if there is a literal time line? Travelling forward is possible, not backwards because there is nothing to go back to.

Perhaps it's referring to Time and Relative Dimension in Space?

    TARDIS! oooh wooo ooooh! (Dr.Who)

  • i would have thought that the outside of the black hole, looks like it doesn't move at all!!

  • that is a virus, which degenerates his muscular cells, to make a resume.... But his brain is untouched, so, he is not a retard.

  • What exactly happened to him to make him a retard. And why does he have those machines that talk for him

  • @CommanderKevinPan He has a physical disability. He has some sort of bone disease, I can't remember what. He uses machines to talk for him because he actually can't. He can't move any parts of his mody, other than a few muscles in his face and eyes.

  • If a Black hole can only be created by a star of sufficient mass, let's just say this mass is 10, wouldn't it be logical to assume that the Black holes size would be -10 and therefore have an end? Regarding the "Big Bang", why do they get hung up on it? If the Milky Way has a Black Hole in it's center, why couldn't it be the focal point for our Galaxies creation, exploding, drawing back all matter, filling up and exploding again? Why couldn't all galaxy's be similar?

  • @Originaldelsig That is the logical assumption, however I am not too sure why not possible? It is highly probable I can imagine. But who knows?

  • @DavrosTheKaled I think Scientists call it a Paradox when they want to say "I don't know".

  • @Originaldelsig A paradox is a set of statements which all though true in themselves, may imply contradiction. Sometimes they defy logic when grouped together and seem counterintuitive. Scientific paradoxes are veridical, as though they seem absurd, they are perfectly logical. It is not that scientist want to say "I don't know" it's that they know and fully understand the irony of several truths.

  • @Originaldelsig holy crap, for a guy with access to Google, you are horrendously misinformed about the concept of a paradox. In this case, the sources for his mathematics contradicts the answer he calculated.

  • @Originaldelsig more like when something is...impossible to exist and yet exists

  • @Originaldelsig I don't know for now*

  • wisdom is bleak ....is basically what his paradox is saying.. its your opinion as to how you interpret that. I'm only 15 yrs old and things like these paradox goes through my mind daily.

  • @akeem313 If one thinks about life and how it exists with no actual evidence or something to work with, or even prove to themselves, they can become insane.

  • I can't believe that people gave thumbs up to silveradoNL's comment. Obviously, if they had watched the video, they would that the show is called the Hawking Paradox and it's about his work on the Information Paradox.

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that the underscore from about 2:56 to around 3:16 borrows from?

  • Comment removed

  • when a star deis,

it becomes a black hole ,

    and when that explodes,

    it becomes a galaxy,

and when a star in that galaxy deis,

    we starts at the begining.

  • @MrVmBear

Exploding black hole doesn't turn into a galaxy >.>.

  • @ProoMaaaas how can you know you are just a idiot playing games. and you did not watch all the videos

  • Talk about bias! What happens to a creationist saying the same thing before hawking was even born, which many have btw, that perhaps science has it all wrong? They get royally scoffed at. But hey, if it's one of our boys, let's honor this idea! ROTFLMAO!!

  • @sownzgr8 no. when mystics talk about how "science has it all wrong and we can't know everything" they mean that science is basically pointless. this is not the idea we endorse. I endorse the idea that, even though it's POSSIBLE that we can't know EVERYTHING, it's also possible that we CAN. and even if we can't, we can know a hell of a lot more than any scripture has ever shown us.

  • @xXRoBeRtXHaYdNXx I know what you mean, one time a car drove by really fast and I was like "I shall never know what that person looked like, how they sounded or what their name was". No idea why. But it's true - WE CAN'T KNOW EVERYTHING!

  • I have a theory?

Blackholes have a singularity and eventually shink into non existance.

Similar to how life on earth happens. It's created and it expires.

We humans have so much in common to blackholes.

Birth and death are apparent in both cases.

The massive density of a blackhole is equal to the density of non existant life.

It appears to me that the 11th dimension and blackholes are very closely linked.

  • dos xx music!

  • Only nothing (nothingness) can be smaller than some thing infinitely small, how can that be infinitely dense?

  • this wasnt a mistake. in our reality there is cause and effect. we know our reality, he was thinking outside of our reality on a higher level. most people cant process the idea of having an effect without a cause but it is possible

  • "what if the world was so strange we could never hope to understand it, and science was wasting its time trying to do so"..ye it actually called Religion...

  • @clovelywindheaven religion is nothing but the human mind trying to comfort itself

  • i agree with hawking. the map is not the territory.

  • Life imitating art theory in action. Gene Roddenberry was a prophet. Steven Hawking became Captain Pike .

  • Sry Bro,but most fundamental of the sciences is MATH!

  • @CUXOB2 No, it's Homeopathy...

  • @conscript125 You're joking… right?

  • @PDracco Guess.

  • @CUXOB2 I disagree, the most fundamental science is physics as it effectively gives us a model of the real observable world. Mathmatics is a tool used by scientists.

  • physics is mainly the math involved with science..

  • One thing interesting about Physics is the uncertainties or paradoxes. But I like Mathematic better because paradox is not acceptable in Mathematics, or it would be horrible lol.

  • There's evidence that every galaxy has a supermassive black hole in its centre and there are billions of those in the universe. If just one black hole has already infinite density and gravity, how much is x billion multiplied by infinity? One infinity is always more than any finite number. Adding to infinity can't make it any larger than it already is. Mind boggling.

  • I would donate my body to Stephen Hawking... and I don't have AIDS...

  • The internet has brought all the world's knowledge together, we have more access to literature and research than any other time in history. Worldwide communication happens in an instant. Computers are processing complex data models at phenomenal speeds...and the comments on a scientific show about modern physics don't amount to more than the ramblings of a raving lunatic. How's that for an information paradox.

  • Comment removed

  • Gud er død, hawking forklare!

  • its called the information Paradox, not the Hawking Paradox.

  • @SilveradoNL The name of the show is The Hawking Paradox though.

  • @SilveradoNL I know this is an incredibly late response so I probably shouldn't even bother, but this is called "The Hawking Paradox" it's part of a documentary series called Horizon. It was episode 2 of season 42.

  • Sounds an awful lot like a sour grapes attitude on the part of certain physicists who have not achieved as much as they might have liked, despite the huge advantages they have over Hawking. And being limited to expressing one's self at 3 words per minute, *is* a substantial handicap in science. But it's not what you've got. It's how you use it. Susskind's lectures are rambling, backtracking, confusing, and unintelligible since he can't be bothered to prepare for them as e.g. Walter Lewin does.

  • if Eisntein permisse of gravity distorting space is wrong, and the way space is treated as a independente object is illogical , all this smoke and no fire :o) meaning todays assumptions about the Cosmos are going the wrong way, becouse it`s foundations are not fully secure, is like the bible, a conjecture of facts being interpertaded by people needing a meaning and for that every thing is a tool.

  • What is a point? Is it the Euclidean point? If yes, then what is the physical interpretation of the Euclidean point? Euclid's definition of a point is that it is a something which has position but no magnitude, breadth, or thickness. How does something which doesn't have magnitude, breadth, and thickness have any interpretation in physics? The whole concept of a universe reducing to a single point might make sense from our axiomatic mathematical perspective, but none from a physical one.

  • this is so stupid all these people wasting their lives trying to discover all this stuff, we already know everything about how the world and the universe was created.... It's called the BIBLE. All you black hole worshipers are doomed. The only reason we see them is because God has actually made them real to teach scientists a lesson for not beloving faith. Amen. I mean shit, people don't even say grace at their muthafuckin dinnas no mo.

  • @cantroos

Nice satire there, dude. Citing Bible verses would have been more hilarious.

  • @cantroos Yes, But i hate to sound like an ignorant atheist.

when astronautics go into space do they find god? No they find the universe. and If your going to sit there and claim all these people are wrong, and word for word the bible is right. Explain to me why the clouds are only just water vapor? and why god isn't sitting there. Because even in the bible, It said he waited in the clouds. Accept science. and live your religion. science cannot disprove religion, So dont get insecure about it.

  • @HellCatFury12 science is just a big conspiracy to discredit God. I mean what kind of sucker honestly believes in stuff like atoms or solar winds. . I've never seen one, so obviously they don't exist. I pulled both my children out of science classes and gave them a 100% theology education and now Sarah is a telemarketer - that sounds pretty scientific to me - and Daniel is a sanitation engineer. They didn't study science but both through God's power are working in scientific fields.

  • @cantroos Laugh out loud. This is ironic. That means it is really funny and clever.

  • @cantroos Way to go cantroos. The Lord will guide them as he has me I'm sure. I used to get high marks in my physics class 'way back in my school days but it didn't take me long to see that Lucifer was fixing my test scores so I quit school with its lack of prayers and all and got a fine job in a tannery scraping the maggots off of rotting hides and making coats and shoes with my Lord always beside me getting splashed the odd time with maggot guts, but he doesn't ever seem to mind. Yay god!

  • @cantroos ...i hope your joking, Lawl. That was such a stupid statement.

just like my intestines, i cannot see them, they dont exist.

And oxygen, cant see that. Doesn't exists.

I mean, even if you are religious you can believe in science, because it just proves how things work. not disprove god.

  • @HellCatFury12 Wrong, take some scissors and cut your abdomen open and you'll be able to see all those organs.

And oxygen does exist because you can feel it, wave your hand around and you can feel the air resisting it.

Science only exists to give no-goods easy careers in university faculties. Good hard work like my boy and daughter only gets done by decent people. Not rage-aholics like your friend zideffil up above.

    Thnk about it.

  • @cantroos True but the simple thing is,

Science cannot disprove god. Nothing can, We can go EVERYWHERE in existence & not find him, and he can still be there. Science NOW hasn't disproved god, Just changed the theory that he sits in the clouds.

I mean, You can be what ever religion you want to be, and still follow science, Science just explains the wonders of the universe. Whereas god, Is an idealism of life. They're different, and will NEVER combine.

  • @HellCatFury12 that's not even true, all science does is make up an explanation. On the other hand, the Bible has genuine and true explanations. For example, scientists spout nonsense about things like elements, but the Bible says that everything is made of water and fire. Cut open a pineapple, guess what, there is lots of water in it. And then try this, leave it out in the sun for a few days, and guess what it will start on fire. It's simple.

  • @cantroos Ok, that's it, I'm going to get aggressive, You have abandoned reasoning.

  • @cantroos You have your right to BELIEVE what ever you want in the bible. Allow us to follow THE EXPLANATION, the cause, the cause. not some fucking words in a book.

when we study these things, we dont go "ha take that religion" Why?, because it doesn't disprove it. We allow you to believe what you want because you fucking want to, Dont get in the way of the future of our race because you want to live in ignorance.

  • @HellCatFury12 How can having the opportunity to know everything be ignorance? I already know the answer to all these silly questions you science and rectum worshippers trouble yourselves with. You have the right to be ignorant yourselves, but I will point it out to you. You want my kids to have to learn about nonsense like evolution and be taught how to have anal sex at the age of 7. So gravely immoral. Repent now and be spared an eternity of torment when you die.

  • @cantroos I'm an Agnostic Theist. With that, As long as i'm a good person, i can get into your heaven. I fight against ignorant Atheists, and now, Self righteous Christians.

I'm going to say this, Where your proof that it's right? I mean science has equations, explanations etc etc.

The bible is just words. Shitty little words, written on a book. Theres no proof, no explanation.

Science cannot disprove god, So get of your high horse, no mater what they say, It CANNOT disprove god, So grow up.

  • @cantroos i feel bad for your kids.

Because in order for OUR race to succeed we need to understand the fundamentals universe, we cannot create space ships, With the information in the bible, we cannot create microwaves with the word sin the bible, So shut the fuck up, and let the SMART people continue the world.

I dont give a SHIT what you believe, though you are trying to silence science, because of religion, They're both very different. So please. Shut up. and live your life.

  • @HellCatFury12 Space ships are a violation of God because you aren't allowed to fly to heaven, you have to earn your way in. and microwaves are also because God created fire and fire is good enough to cook your food. WhenI make nachoes, I just light some napkins on fire and then drop the nacho chips onto it, they are perfect afterwards, then I leave the cheese out in the sun for 2-3 months and it gets a beautiful coat of mold, yet some idiot atheists waste their money on blue cheese.

  • @cantroos are you serious? are you serious? Ok, I'm starting to have a BIG idea your a troll, Good job.

No one is that fucking stupid Lol.

  • @cantroos You are some fucked up guy. In fact, you may well be THE most fucked up guy I have ever met. You are telling us that your loser daughter working as a telemarketer, one of the lowest jobs on earth is working in a scientific feild? And you son is a 'sanitation engineer' - does that mean he works on a garbagetruck? You sound so ridiculous that I thought that for sure you were kidding. So, you're actually one of those guys who has little or no education but like to argue with those who do.

  • @zideffil Actually I don't think you have ever met me, or if I'm mistaken, you don't leave an impression on a good Christian. And my daughter is a huge winner, her husband doesn't even have a criminal record, he has a 1988 Pontiac Firefly, and only drinks on weekends. Your anger seems very strong, let the lord into your heart and you'll be able to calm down a bit, otherwise all the stress will send you to your grave (and as a result straight to hell) a lot faster. Chill out baby.

  • @cantroos Obviously to me you're spoofing. For a minute there I thought you were serious. Good goin there guy. Man, are Christians EVER STUPID!!!!

  • @zideffil you condemn yourself even more with every word in service of the devil. Repent now or burn for eternity you heretic.

  • @cantroos Hey Cantroos, is it possible that you just judged me? OOooohhhh bad boy Don't you KNOW that it says in tre stupid Bible that one shouldn't judge? I have read mine 3 times to get every laugh out of it that I can and now I just keep it around for to piss on. Let's see now...Poeple turning to salt, living inside of fish, bushes talking, zombies coming out of graves, and, last but not least, TV evangelists robbing and stealing their parishoners blind. Oh yeah, the fucking tower of Babel

  • @zideffil Oh no!!,...you have judged me again, cantroos. Didn' tth Bible say,"Judge not that ye be not judged"? I was a true Christian for most of my life but, little by little, this and that didn't make any sense and, since I could not get intelligent answers from pastors , I started reading other well documented and researched books which DID answer many of my myriad questions. The more I found out about the story of Jesus, the more the whole myth was exposed for what it is, a fairy tail

  • @zideffil The bible also says - "cry aloud, rise up and make thy voice a trumpet and show me people their transgressions". So if I see something which flies in the face of God, I have a duty to point it out to the person. You sound as though you have some sort of interest in all sorts of vile topics like human trafficking and stuff, you really should see the beauty in all people because God made us and science wants to reduce it to filth.

  • fake and gay

  • @HalfEatenDimSim Like you?

  • RAYMOND CHIAO: "In our experiments we have measured that a single photon can tunnel across a tunnel barrier at 1.7 times the speed of light."

    On PBS: NOVA

  • @ZBIG8484 (I had to change my id because of a security problem - sorry). Well, NOVA is not exactly a scientific journal but it doesn't support what you say anyway. To continue Chiao's quote ...

CHIAO: "To have a genuine signal you really have to control the signal, but in, in quantum mechanical tunneling it's a completely random process. Fundamentally, we cannot send information with this tunneling particle."

about Nimtz, the narrator says "Nimtz has found little support for this claim"

  • Google: Günter Nimtz nova transcripts, click the first result, scroll 2/3 way down, look for his name. I hope PBS is a descent source for everyone.

  • Günter Nimtz wrote a book: Zero Time Space, about it, he's probaly just a big liar though.

  • @ZBIG8484 Sorry, he's been debunked, book or no book.

  • @TheQRabbit

    Why r u sorry?

  • google: Günter Nimtz popular science, since you are so lazy, and click the first result.

  • Photons reached 1.7 lightspeed at Berkley at California.

  • @ZBIG8484 References please.

  • @roycraft

    Google it

  • @ZBIG8484 No. I want to see where you got it from so that I can tell what it takes to get you to believe nonsense and pseudo-science.

  • @roycraft

    Settle down

Published in the December-1995 issue of Analog Science Fiction & Fact Magazine

YES EVERYONE INFORMATION TRAVELED FASTER THAN THE SPEED OF LIGHT. 1.7 and 4.7 times faster. GOOGLE IT EVERYONE.

  • @ZBIG8484 I thought as much. "Analog Science Fiction & Fact Magazine". Give me a break. You come here with a claim that someone has observed information traveling faster than light and give some stupid science fiction magazine as a source? If what you say were true it would have been big news in reputable scientific journals. Please cite one of them. There's enough of this made up crap around. It needs to be challenged.

  • @roycraft

so your saying it didn't happen?

  • @ZBIG8484 I'm saying show me some evidence. I'm sorry if I seem to be coming down hard on you but you made a very large claim and you seem insulted when you are asked for evidence. Please, when you make a claim such as "photons have been observed going faster than light", be ready to back your claim with some substantial, credible evidence. It's depressing seeing so much nonsense spouted on the web as fact.

  • @roycraft

I don't know how to post links on youtube, it won't let me. Popular science also covered it, the german's name is Günter Nimtz. I HAVE ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING TO PROVE TO YOU. I'M NOT YOUR CLERK. Have you looked it up yet? If not then shut up. Where would it have to be posted for you to believe it. Do they have to come to your house and do it in front of you?

  • @ZBIG8484 Bravo! You gave me a reference. Unfortunately, Gunter Nimtz's claims have been shown to be bogus. There are many references for this. Many are given in the Wikipedia post for "Gunter Nimtz". If you don't want to believe the Wikipedia entry, look at some of the sources it references. Thank you.

  • @roycraft I'm not trying to argue with you, all I want is the truth. So what about Raymond Chiao?

  • @ZBIG8484 It looks like Chiao's work is basically the same as Nimtz's,. In both, no claim is made that info travels FTL Instead, phase velocities of wave packets are said to travel FTL which is not a violation of special relativity. For an example of "FTL" waves, picture an ocean wave nearly parallel to the beach. Measure the location of the wave crest as it crosses the beach. If the wave is parallel enough, you'll see that crest move FTL across the beach. No info is conveyed. No SR violation

  • omg here come the another one whit the miracle bullcrap come on, really water in to wine, the pope is supposed to be god Jesus what ever you want to call it spokesperson tell the pope to make a miracle, science has done much more that your bullshit 2000 year old miracle tell god to cure everyone whit cancel now that a miracle that not going to happen keep on whating

  • The king is dead, long live the king.

Could it be the big bang was the death/evolution of the particle of infinite mass and energy (God)?

Could it be the rules (and supporting equations) of physics do not actually break down in a black hole? Rather an unknown yet stronger equation merges, dominates, alters or modifies

Could it be that time moves slower or faster not only in space but right here on planet Earth?

Maybe more cost AND time effective to look here:-)

  • who wrote that script? it's a bitch writing science documentaries

  • Hawking didn't conceive the big bang. WTF

  • Lemaître came up with the original theory and Hoyle is created the term "Big Bang"

  • grepman prof hawkings version of the big bang was different from lemaitre and hoyle they believe that the four known forces had a seperation. gravity seperated from the strong and weak nuclear and electromagnetism. prof belives infinite gravity created the other three forces and then there was a big bang

  • I dont like it when they say mistake in science related shows...

  • On this very same subject, I recommend Leonard Susskind{s recent book "The Black Hole War". It's really good.

  • in my opinion, no one will ever be as great as einstein

  • Not even Newton?

  • you can never know..

  • yeah although his idea is very hard to be unified with quantum theory

  • He and ofcourse Dr. Michio Kaku..

  • Ehrm what exactly did this jap contribute to science, except from giving lectures to plebeians.

  • lol thats me i take stuff apart to see what makes em tick but i cant put it back together it gets me mad somtimes like an expensive phone r somthing

  • Great, dedicated physicists don't give a damn about publicity etc...their work is their passion....this dude had the life of a rockstar....."Hello there, I am genius, see, camera's please"...No wonder in the poll of a leading physics journal the physicists placed him 20th on the list..so much for our "great genius" Mr Hawking...and know who made it to the list? People who the rabble hardly know about....the true geniuses..Dirac, Feynman...Weisenberg.....Publicity Hound...

  • Wow, only 20th in the list of leading physicists in the whole world? That's pathetic.

How high did you rank again?

  • I ranked nowhere nor am I a professional physicist....now, bitching at a personal level don't dilute the fact mate...It doesn't matter what plebs like you feel about this guy..or for that matter what plebs like me feel about him..the fact is the "people in the know" ,ie the physicists themselves don't rate him in the list of illustrious physicists ....

  • Yes, they do. You just said they rated him as 20th in the world. That's the top one percent, as far as physicists go.

  • So that's how you arrive at your conclusions? On what I said? Mate, you proceeded to comment on the documentary even though u haven't watched it? & you started arguing trivially like it's over a soccer star? Go & watch this documenatary, the physicists didn't even rate him to the top 20.& listen, the talk here is abt the "greatest " after Einstein.Crazed publicity & "genius " tag to someone looked down by his own fraternity is irrational..Sure,schoolkids and laymen are free to rate him at top!!

  • No, I'm just pointing out that you contradicted yourself. And the guy was in the ted talks, he's far from "looked down upon" by any real physicist.

  • black holes, black energy, anti-matrie, relativity and quantum mechanics.. the math that goes with it...very interesting but not easy to grasp

  • thats a very boring unscientific movie. 0/5

  • This seems to borrow heavily from the awesome Errol Morris movie, "A Brief History of Time."

  • they all copy each other you know..

  • yeah youre all repeaters

  • This seems to borrow off WHATTT????

What planet are you living on?

Hawking wrote the book, A breif history of time. (it isn't as though it's famous though EH)?

Morris made a documentary about it.

    I've just been had, haven't I???

You were just trolling weren't you???

    Please tell me you were.

  • he should get a YODA voice program, or an AHNULD soundboard haha....eat lead blackhole!

  • i still do not fully understand what blac hole is ??? i do not need scientific defination becoz i still wont get it i need simple ABCD defination

  • A black hole is the result of the stellar life cycle of a star with a very large mass. Stars with less mass than the limit become neutron stars which are dense enough to bend gravity.

Heavier stars becmoe "black holes," which are similar, but they are so dense that photons cannot even leave the gravitational field of the object itself, hence what appears to be a "black hole"

  • Burn him on the stake! information paradox OMGOZ

    lol

  • what hte fuck i ran into you again on a comments page you sed somthing about a dude with a stufed nose sounds annoying

  • wow you guys are smart! I'm sure you all have your doctorates in physics and a higher IQ than Einstein! Cough...
