The political message is that the US army is out to make a difference in the lives of the foreign people, when that is not even the whole truth. US army follows orders only, and they will shoot anyone if they are given the order to shoot, or face court martial. The real war is not on the ground, it is between governments and civilians. This movie is 110% propaganda at its best to rally the waning support behind the US troops in the escalating war in Afghanistan and the current state in Iraq.
So where exactly was the message where they wanted to make a difference in the lives of Iraqi's? Only one character wanted to be there and that was only because he liked the rush he got from his job. Make a difference? He held his gun to a cab driver's head after shooting out his window. Why would the director and writer care about waning support of these wars? No one cares if the public supports the war, because it is not up to the public what actions are taken.

Basterds, District 9, and A Serious man were better than Hurt Locker in my opinion . I am just glad the Oscar did not go to some CGI video game about giant blue cats. I just saw Up in the Air last night. Im not sure where to rank it yet but it was hundreds of times better than Avatar.

It's not Fiction, it's advertised as a gritty, relaistic WAR FILM set in IRAQ in 2004.
This is an ongoing war, so needless to say, it has to go by certain RULES.
Yes, war films often take dramatic license for entertainment, but The Hurt Locker goes so far off the mark, it's completely Hollywood and misrepresents the conduct of Bomb Squads. It makes one wonder why they wondered setting this movie in Iraq at all.

Avatar was trying to influence people to believe in the left wing political attitude of its director concerning race, the enviornment, and corporations. The political message is that the US army is out to make a difference in the lives of the foreign people, when that is not even the whole truth. US army follows orders only, and they will shoot anyone if they are given the order to shoot, or face court martial. The real war is not on the ground, it is between governments and civilians. This movie is 110% propaganda at its best to rally the waning support behind the US troops in the escalating war in Afghanistan and the current state in Iraq.

Make a difference? He held his gun to a cab driver's head after shooting out his window. Why would the director and writer care about waning support of these wars?
