Triple H went out with some other girl before steph, vince did not like the idea at first, so both HHH and steph tried a different relationship, didn't want to be apart, so they got back together.
To say HHH didn't get any perks out of this would be hypocritical, but he didn't get as many as people expect. In all actuality, he was treated like crap.

Fact is, Triple H carried the company around 2003-2005, while WWE was building up new talent. Triple H lifted the careers of people like Randy Orton, Batista, Chris Benoit, Sheamus and more.
Not trying to sound like a triple h fanboy, but he's deserved the success he's had, and he didn't take the easy way out.

After Rock/Austin left WWF ratings tanked while H was the man so he doestn deserve any credit. He played no part in the attitude era and was so unpopular back then he was a heel 80% of the time. DX was popular but bc HBK started it and none of them did shit when they slit except H thanks to steph :)
