Dont they all have an internal aluminum cage? If that cage is most of the laptop's strength, then the outside plastic is pretty much superficial covering and can be made thinner and more flexible as a result. Doesn't mean the actual LCD clam shell is flexible or that you'll punch through to the LCD.
same goes for my x200. although visually similar to the x300, it doesnt have a carbon fibre roll cage, so its kinda a bit flexy and the latches on the screen doesnt really latch on properly
It's got a cage, and that plastic on the outside is just there for absorbing shock.. So dont worry about that flex, it's fine =]
