  • any1 remember sheba with her 5 inch nails:)

  • Nice!! New BSG is fantastic with the old music. :)

  • I prefer the opening music of the original. IMHO

  • Some of this music is from Star Wars.

    Not Battlestar Galactica.

  • Having watched both series I'd have to say the new one is definitely the better of the two. The plot, the backstory, and the execution feel as if a lot more thought was put into them. There's never a real sense of danger in the original, and if I didn't know their civilization had been destroyed I could probably never tell just from watching. The new one has a very real sense of danger to it, and you can definitely tell that something terrible has happened.

  • @FormicHiveQueen As someone who watched the original as a kid and the new one as an adult, I must say the new one is more a serious hard sci-fi drama like Blade Runner, while the original was more like the original Star Wars. But I must admit I find quite silly your comment. You just can't say the new one is better based only on its good effects and its awesome acting and writing, since the new Galactica wouldn't be anything without the first Galactica and its plot and cultural impact.

  • @KronnangDunn: At what point did I mention anything about special effects? And of course the new one wouldn't exist without the old one. That doesn't preclude it from being better, which it is.

  • @FormicHiveQueen ...for adults, that is.

  • @KronnangDunn: ...touché. ;)

  • @KronnangDunn - The original derived a lot of inspiration from Star Wars ( A lot of movies were produced after the release of Star Wars that were essentially clones ), at least in its look. The original script was " Adam's Ark ", basically a series of Bible stories set against a space background, that eventually evolved into original Galactica. The series was popular because it was the 1st real halfway decent sci - fi since " Space : 1999 ". RDM's version is MORE Blade Runner than Star Wars.

  • @knoxvilleguy2 Galactica and Star Wars were both obviously inspired by the anime Space Battleship Yamato (1974) on many things. The concept of space battles similar to WWII sea-air battles... the star fighters.... the capital spaceships similar to WWII era battleships... the ship bridges.... the robotic loyal-yet-funny companions.... the uniforms... the noah's ark like ship escaping from the enemy aliens... all this was on Yamato waaay before Galactica and Star Wars. And it was a good thing.

  • @KronnangDunn - I'd accept that, but SW very likely also adopted elements of Frank Herbert's " Dune " trilogy as well, whereas original BSG incorporated many ideas from Glen Larson's Mormon ( LDS ) faith, such as the planet Kobol. Kobol was derived from the star Kolob, w / God supposedly lives in their belief. & the Quorum of the Twelve was taken from a board of 12 Mormon elders in the LDS church's hierarchy, at least that's w / I read.

  • @knoxvilleguy2 And the similarity on the designs between Galactica and Star Wars was due to the fact that Ralph Mcquarrie worked on both franchises...

  • @KronnangDunn - Didn't McQuarrie also do the artwork for the opening sequences of that forgettable " DUNE " movie by Richard ( ? ) Lynch ?

  • @knoxvilleguy2 David Lynch...

  • @KronnangDunn - Yeah, David Lynch. Anyway, that version of " DUNE " was mostly forgettable, even though it was the 1st time I saw Patrick Stewart on film or TV ( as Gurney Halleck ). Frank Herbert's work, just IMO, had some superficial influence on the Star Wars look & ambience. Maybe Luke Skywalker w / the SW version of the Dune " Messiah ".

  • @knoxvilleguy2 Mr The Dune saga was written long before Star Wars, Jabba is a copy of God Leto II...

  • The old series had only a few episodes. The new series had only a few seasons.

  • The old series had only a few good episodes. The new series had only a few bad ones.

  • The human Cylon concept just doesn't really work. The original concept was that the Cylons were an alien race of intelligent machines opposed to humanity. While the idea of the Cylons being the creation of mankind that rebelled is perfectly fine, the idea of Cylons indistinguishable from humans fails.

  • The only thing going for the new BG over the original is the special effects are a bit superior. The original on the whole is vastly superior on many levels not the least of which is the original's musical score and voices of the original Cylons.

  • for those who don't know - the new series is a CONTINUATION of the old series

  • cool ideas neat

  • original sucked. Pure and simple. Bad writing, bad acting, bad music, and bad effects (but thats not really their fault). New one is clearly superior. Sorry you guys let your stupid melancholy do the thinking for you.

  • @Collector2006 And I'm sorry you are so narrow minded that you think your opinion is the only one that's valid. Maybe when you grow up you will realize that different people like different things.

  • @drdjkennedy While i agree with the view that the old series isn't as good as the new one (i have infact watched both, so am justified in making this opinion) you are right, you are entitled to your opinion, even if it's wrong in my view :P. I just like the more... realistic style of BSG in the new series and the themes they explore in huge depth, plus the amazing action scenes (yes the old series had them too, but i just like the new ones better).

  • @Collector2006 I totally defend your right to state your pithy, smug opinion..I agree, the original BSG does have it's fair share of problems...although any resemblance the new BSG cartoon effects have to "realism" is totally negligible.

You don't like the music thats cool...but to claim it's "bad "is a baseless, jejune argument, And if you're comparing UNFAVORABLY Stu Phillip's superb soundtrack to Bear McCreary's Playstation ready,New Age, broke down Enya bullshit moment you must be "fracked".

  • @FUOPEC1 "And if you're comparing UNFAVORABLY Stu Phillip's superb soundtrack to Bear McCreary's Playstation ready,New Age, broke down Enya bullshit moment you must be fracked."

Talk about a filthy and smug opinion.. Pretty much says all you need to know about these TOS fanboys: stuck in the past & wallowing in melancholy. New age? What is this, the 80's?

Probably hot for Dirk Benedict and also a big fan of 'the A-team' and it's pretty similar acting, writing & action scenes.

    Daggit!

  • @flerrel Bitch, you don't read too well do you? It's "pithy" not "filthy".

And as I was only 3 when the first BSG premiered and am just as familiar with the retread as I am the original you can take the whole TOS fanboy, nostalgia narrative and stick it up your ass.

New age, meditation, contemporary instrumental WHATEVER the fuck you wanna call the noise Bear McCreary and his fellow hacks produce I have an even MORE apt description for it...SHIT!

Fuck Dirk Benedict...I like dark-haired men.

  • @FUOPEC1 Filthy fits both your opinion and your manner of writing just fine..

  • The originalBSG was way better than that..."thing" thatwas onthe Sci-Fi channel (shudders)

  • I watched and liked the old series as kid, but now i prefer the new one. But i think they had made the design better of the cylones. But great serie.

  • "Cylons were made by lizard-men" lol Much better indeed.. /s

Old BSG is utter crap & totally unwatchable. Stop wallowing in your melancholy, the re-imagined series beats the old in every way.

    So say we all!!

  • What?! Is it me or did Battlestar Galactica jump with her flight deck pods opened!!

    3:06

  • @KuDastardly yes that she did.

  • @KuDastardly yeah it did. even CGI people make mistakes

  • In the original, I don't think they ever said Cylons were made by humans. That was my first disappointment with the new BSG: "Cylons were made by humans", so cheap.

  • Love your selection of images. They fit the soundtrack perfectly!!

This music makes it all so much more forboding and scary.

I dont know if it would have worked it the show but, maybe it would have made it LESS believable?

I do think you did a fracking awsome job though

  • Love your selection of images. They fit the soundtrack perfectly!!

This music makes it all so much more forboding and scary.

I dont know if it would have worked it the show but, maybe it would have made it LESS believable?

  • offer single fight any kind duration, 10 minutes alone, weapon no matter, any means

  • yea but if u think about it in the new storyline they made it so they were the first humans on earth and they being the ones that start everything

  • New series drama wise is OK ,but some negative comments ...

Unbelivable scene, the citizen of Caprica are wearing neck tie and suit . What the...

I thought Battlestar Galactica epic happen million of years ago.

In the original series of BSG 1978, at least civilian costume were different and more believable to be from Caprica.

    another unbelievable...

Weapons use by both the Cylon and colonial ground fighters with guns and bullets ...very earth like. No Blaster or laser weapon

  • @starscreamer47

That was the whole idea of the show. I'm guessing you were to lazy to read or listen to what way they wanted the show to go. God forbid they didn't go the route of the original series. We wouldn't want that. I'm sorry people weren't wearing silver space looking cloths and firing laser beams and plasma torpedo's. If you want that stuff watch startrek or starwars. For a show that is so unbelievable. They sure raped everyone else ( minus startgate ) in the ratings.

  • @RGMerkel

Sorry, but you mentioned"they wanted...i guess you mean the director or the new writer of the BSG" but me an audience will say otherwise...meaning this is not what I want to see. Wearing necktie is a earth custom in the 16th century. Hard for me to accept this kind of costume in this battle star epic. You are right I am going back to watch Starwars.

  • ...they sure know how to fuck up a classic...sigh...

  • @SteveSabbai

This beat the original out ( yes, I grew up on it ).

  • @SteveSabbai

Also they kept the design of the original col. fighters and names of most of the characters to honor the original series!

  • I grew up watching the original series and remember liking it alot, but after watching the entire new version of BATTLESTAR how anyone can still call the 1979 version better or superior to the remake needs help.

Its like saying Batman Begins was shitty compared to the 1960's Movie.

  • @macross25 No no, see the problem is they accidently modeled the remake after Galactica 1980. Oh I loved the effects and actors and even most of the seasons, but by the end they might as well have had super powered cub scouts riding flying motor cycles around. Totally lost the original's political subtext as well.

  • @macross25 Batman Begins does not have the Bati twist! and the new BSG does not have aliens with lumps on their foreheads (they are missed) :P

  • @macross25 THANK YOU! It's good to finally hear someone who watched the 70-80's series and then the 2003 and not diss the new one. I've seened the whole of 2003 and some of 79, but 2003 always just felt better. Story, music, characters, all of it

  • @macross25

You're the one that needs help

Without the original, there wouldn't be any remake you dumbass.

  • @Rainbow6Team Wrong Dip-shit! If the original was never made one day Glenn A. Larson, you know the creator of the series would have found a group of producers to make his show & stories come to life. Maybe not in the late 70s or even the 80's, maybe not til the 90's doesn't matter, the original was cheap, under funded and lasted 1 season and then came Glactica 1980...nuff said of that train wreck.

MACROSS = New BSG Awesome. Robotech = Old Galactica.... whack!!

  • I LMAOed when the new model Centurions were fighting the Old School Centurions in the Colony.

  • BSG:2003 is probrably the best scifi show yet made. It took all (and I mean all) of the best parts of the original, yet left all the stuff that....hadn't aged well. Amazing cast of amazing actors (even the minor characters). It had a week last Season (Writing staff had painted themselves into a corner), and a couple of weak arcs in Season 3 (primarily caused by having blown their effects budget early on)....but on the whole: beautiful.

  • lol @ people who think the original somehow beats the remake

  • @wavelength121 each had their virtues, the first was pure innovation and creativity like never before seen on TV OR the silver screen. the remake was an in depth ........ POSSESSION of the characters on the genetic level and remastered for the boob toob yet again, adding depth and clarity not present in the original.

  • @wavelength121 It depends on what your comparing. Did the effects and dialog beat out the original? Hell yes. But the story became so convoluted and centered around the hell of who was secretly a cylon that they lost touch with the day to day hell of their actual situation: lost, attacked constantly by a powerful enemy, and something which was ignored entirely in the new series: cultural diversity from a dozen worlds stuffed in close quarters. I loved the new series but both were good.

  • @JWA8402 That was all fine and good for the first season but it had to go somewhere besides "day to day survival", otherwise why did I buy a television? Also, while I agree that the new series had some serious weaknesses, I feel the "cultural close-quarters" aspect was covered appropriately, especially be episodes like "The Woman King" in S3. However overall I think the new series wins because it is a full 100% leap forward as far as sci-fi storytelling goes.

  • the old series was better in my opion

  • Well done, this video!

  • bstar g was an icon of its day. i loved it then. and with an honest heart i say that the new bstar g did not leave me disapointed in any way. it was well concieved and planned and the actors who played their parts were maestros and virtuosos. the series remake could have gone on for many more seasons and kept me hooked! as sad as i am that the series ended, i doubt i could have concieved a more brilliant finale.

we are all the children of human and ceylons.

    who'd of thunk it 8-)

  • @anothercarpenter agreed

  • Love the old theme song... so good. Epic.

  • I am a fan of the orginal but i did like the new one, i told people to give it a chance and they did, i like it that it had a ending and not like the orginal. It was BSG remade like so many movies they are doing today. Sometimes they hit sometimes not.

  • The reimagined series have more battle, stars, and mostly, it's a lot more galactic.

  • The only problem I have with the remake is the last series gets really weird and over-the-top, and WHY THE FUCK DID THEY DESTROY THE BSG??!!! T_T

  • @Keurosaur

    It's a distopian story.

  • @rpascuttini Meh, I suppose :/

  • Both BSG's are good, and I love the remake's spin-off Caprica. And the theme from the original can be heard threwout the remade version and Caprica. (Notably in the last ep of BSG when the fleet is sent into the sun)

  • Both BSG's are good, and I love the remake's spin-off Caprica.

  • killer! awesome job here 5/5

  • It always cracks me up when people who haven't seen the original Galactica in 30 years - or ever - are so quick to rag on it. Granted, it wasn't the best show ever, but if it was so useless, why would anyone have wanted to remake it? I suspect if you folks were to watch it, you'd find it quite a bit better than you remembered.

  • I agree, seems its such a big thing for sum people, I just wanna shout, get a f*cking life, its only TV, djeez!! . Have u read comments below?Dont re-make something and then b proud of it being totally different. Its like a new movie with the name of a very famous actor and while he's only got a cameo or tribute bands, calling it BG again, its just misleading for the old fans. I will simply never ever like it, because I think its rubbish. watch this space for sum comments coming back now haha.

  • Oh, don't get me wrong: I loved the first two seasons of the new BSG. It fell apart a few eps into season 3, and never recovered, though there were a few individually good eps. And in 30 more years it'll be remade again and everyone who likes it in 2040 will be as viciously derisive of the RDM BSG as everyone now is of the original

  • I agree, e.g. I love Buck Rogers, but the 2nd season was dreadful, and am sceptic of the re-make coming out soon as sometimes a show gets over-produced to a point of no return. why cant some people just explain their preferences, instead of using foul language, they are just too thick to explain themselves in a intelligent way. Discussing taste is endless, but people in bubbles who dont appreciate both sides of the coin, like SuperSayanAI, are the real idiots

  • nah, nothing like the original, all these classic re-makes, Stargate (Universe), Beverly Hills 90210, Knight Rider, just leave it all the hell alone, the original Cylons shit me, the 'new' ones are just too CGI

  • Its whatever floats your boat, if you're gonna murder an original recipe, call it something else, this re-makes might be good in your book, but fact is that nothing stands out anymore, plastic covered actors with no personality or talent to speak of, bullshit storylines and you cant tell one sci fi remake from the other anymore. Cheesy or not, the originals are called 'originals' as they were just that.

  • please refer to previous comment, I could ask you the same thing, have you watched the original?? I appreciate you've grown up in an age where nothing is original anymore and old ideas are re-varnished and sold off as new. next time before commenting, please research and explain opinions, like a grown up would

  • Comment removed

  • at least we agree on one thing, Star Wars is fantastic, original, sequals and pre-quals, I loved the lot

  • Star Wars is great, no doubt about that

  • Forgive me for jumping in. I like the original show a lot, partially out of nostalgia - it was huge at the time - but also because if you can set aside the disco haircuts and those unfortunate "Triad" games, there's some neat stuff in there. You have to sort of fight to get at it, but come on, who doesn't like the interplay between Baltar and Lucifer?

That said, I really loved the new show until it crashed and burned in mid year 3

  • yeah, one big reason why I like it is nostalgia, the new stuff just misses the sense of humour and word play between characters, Triad made me cringe as well by the way! original BG never meant to take itself serious, it was entertainment, escapism, Sci Fi!! Not just new BG, but other 'Sci Fi' remakes I have mentioned before, they're just soaps that take place in the future, just soo boring.

  • The original 3 hour episode of the original BSG was very serious, lots of death, emotion, a prostitute, the rich taking advantage of the poor refugees, and so on. The network was pretty uncomfortable with running that grim a show on 8:00 sunday nights, so they asked Larson and the rest to tune it down a bit, and the series became flightier afterwards.

  • See, I never realised all that, certainly makes sense as I think about the storylines as they developed through the course of the show. I still love the show for so many reasons, but I agree it was sometimes poor, like anything on tv, then AND now, nothing can be fantastic and perfect 100% of the time. Thank you for your comments

  • Oh, that's nothing. You shold hear me rail on and on and on about "Man From Atlantis."

  • last comment , as we're the only ones capable of normal discussion about the above and dont take things personal if we dont agree with something, by marking comments as 'poor', Just because A show runs for multiple seasons, DOES NOT and NEVER WILL mean its any good. I would LOVE LOVE to go back into the 70's/ 80's as I used to throw stones at dicks like below (you know who you are) p.s 'Atlantis.. Yep, loved that too, oh mind, some nerd might want to re-make that too!

  • Who is Edward James Motherfucking Olmos anyway?? Poor fella, with a name like that? seriously, who is he, whats he been in? I would call YOU stupid for swearing to get your point across, which you havent, wanna try again little boy? And also what on this earth do Shakespeare and Einstein have to do with anything, you on drugs???

  • The remake is more BSG than the original series? That is a silly little comment.

  • OK, 4 convoluted, messy seasons vs. one silly, yet original season. Love the whole Terminator angle rotflmao -- so original. You don't see that anymore.

  • You obviously aren't intelligent enough to appreciate the new series. Unsubscribe.

  • what?? how can the new version be more battlestar galactica than the original?? What a weird opinion, besides copies are not always better, regardless of how many shows it runs for

  • @TheDoubledutch1971 Well the new definately lives up to it's name better. "BATTLE" STAR. the old one didn't have very much battle at all.

  • Its all about what u like, I prefer old 1 for multiple reasons, unsure if 'lack of battle' is one of them, never thought of it that way. What just really riles me,when people refuse to view both ends of a 'discussion' and say truly the dumbest things to defend their opinion rather than just discuss their taste.1 of the reasons I DO prefer the original is the escapism factor I guess, the cheesyness of it, e.g. sexist and hapless Starbuck never fails to make me smile, and Lucifers sarcasm!!

  • @TheDoubledutch1971 I definitely do miss the original cock swingin pretty boy Starbuck. That is for sure.

  • @TheDoubledutch1971 Sexism never fails to make you smile? Gods almighty...

  • @TheDoubledutch1971 By simply being better? What a silly question.

  • @TheDoubledutch1971 There are many copies.

  • Oldschool was way better.

  • It doesn't matter who you are, but the Galactica going to hyper speed mixed with the big finale part of the music is just beautiful! Staring at around 5:57

  • A beautifully faithful integration. Thank you.

  • Check it at 1:33, Serenity is landing!!!

  • I see it up left corner grts BGG ;)

  • Is that actually meant to be the serenity in some sort of 'in nod'?

  • @CmdrTobs the same special effects people that did Firefly, did BSG.

  • yep, I thought it was a 'nod' or just recycling.

Which reminds me BSG is legendary in that the cylon red light got recycled onto a somewhat famous black pontiac....

  • @CmdrTobs if you did not know, Glen Larson, the producer of TOS BSG, was the producer of Knightrider as well.

  • Way coool! I thought the new series was the best written show on television. The only thing about it that wasn't so good was the soundtrack. If they had used the original score, it would have been perfect. Yay, Stu Phillips!

  • Well you must be just about the only person that doesn't like Bear McCreary's music. Also, you haven't watched closely enough. At several points in the new series, Stu Phillips' music is rearranged and used with his permission.

  • Seriously, phedias I can't believe you said that. The soundtrack has to be one of the best aspects of the new BSG. Listen to the whole soundtrack and you'll see how good it is. Some of my favorite music is on it...

  • @pheidias1

The score was a whole lot better than what is in this video...

  • disagree

  • I've listened to the music of the new series and can't say I liked it one bit I'm afraid

  • To be fair, the creators of the original Galactica wanted to go in a much darker direction, but the network refused, thinking that little kids were the likeliest big audience for the show. If you watch the DVD's, there are cut scenes showing greater friction between the characters. This was passed over in favor of typical 1970s cheese and robot monkey-dogs. Still, compared to most other TV sci-fi, Galactica and Buck Rogers ruled the roost. Just watch the TV "Logan's Run." Trust me.

  • lol worst and most ignorant fan boy bias ive ever heard.

  • As much as i enjoyed the New BSG.

Series 3 way overplayed the mysticism card.

It got really sickening to see week after week of religious and moral dilemas. When you sit down to watch Sci-Fi, you expect to see Sci-Fi.

BSG was good but could have been way better.

The Origional was cheesy and hammy acting. Much like most shows of that era, still, its a classic in its own right and worthy of its cult status in the Sci Fi community.

  • What the hell is with everyone saying the old series sucked? Most of the good shows back then sucked compared to nowadays! And the old series wasnt hollywoodonized with all its material to make it more "entertaining" since apparently people want more sexuality, more violence, more language...

  • Cylons were created by Cylons...period.

Nice shout out to the old school theme though.

  • you guys are all fraking nerds!!!! no im just kidding this is really pronoly the best show i have ever sence

  • what the frak?

  • The music matches the scenes flawlessly. Great Job!

  • They did use the original theme a few times in the new show. I have the Season 2 soundtrack and the original theme is on track 1.

  • I wonder if their vagina's are programmed to look and feel real? ;)

  • youd know if you watched the show

  • I'm old now, i watched the original series, this new stuff isn't for me! It was a joke Joe Fatriani:)

  • No way!

Its the old series that was a joke - hammy acting, bad scripts, cheesy FX and clichéd stories.

The new series on the other hand, has outstanding writing, gripping moral dilemmas and fantastic action in a cinema verité style.

    :)

  • The new series discarded everything the original series was. FUN! It was painful to watch the reimagining. Gee guys, who's going to be a Cylon this week?! LAME! BSG got turned into a frackin' soap opera.

  • Not really. I mean half way through you pretty much knew who all the Cylons were....until season 4.

  • I like the newer version very much, but I have to admit, they really could have used some of the humor of the original.

  • Well the new Cylons are 99.99999% Human more or less so everything would be real maybe even better considering their strengh lol

  • I like it because the music for the old Galactica was awesome!

  • original cylons, cylon ships and galactica looked much better. and i dont like that shaky camera stuff. as usual old school stuff is better overall, be it star wars, star trek, knightrider, james bond, indiana jones.hollywood is spoiled or simply lost it. it looks all commercial/factory production without any passion.

  • I agree, to an extent. But BSG is not produced by Hollywood, I'd like to point out. It was filmed in Vancouver, Canada, I'm pretty sure, independent of Hollywood.

  • me to, those new base stars realy look ugly

  • I like them. They don't like warships like the old one though. More like some strange space station. The coolest Cylon ship it the Resurrection Hub, which pretty much is a space station... But Pegasus is still the best. Fusion of the old and new styles, practically.

  • Regardless of WHERE it is filmed, it is STILL a Hollywood production.

  • I agree with you. I like a good camera shake as a ship whizzes by the camera, but it's no fun when you need to take dramamine to keep from getting dizzy. Rather than making a remake (like Star trek with new actors replacing the old ones) I'd rather watch a new show based on the original, but another ship. There were 14 constitution class (i think) starships, but we HAVE to follow the same one? I want to hear the stories of the ones that went missing.

  • Awesome!

  • Really, looking back at the new BSG, it was a bit pompus and blew itself out by the end. Give me the camp late 1970's.

  • Since RDM did such a fantastic job with the re - imagined version of Galactica, you think he & his team could polish the turd that was the 80's version of Buck Rogers in The 25th Century ? That show had SOME promise, but never really caught fire with the audience.

  • Buck Rogers is re-vamped version of an old classic.

  • KaFaraqGatri:

I know..... I kind of liked Buck Rogers at

1st, but the 2nd or 3rd season (?) wasn't all that great, what with Creighton the snobby android, & THAT series was essentially a Star Wars retread just like the original BSG was.

  • There was just 2 seasons, but yes the first series was better.

  • Think RDM might like to take a crack at it ?

Like I said, polishing a turd.....

The original BSG had things that I liked, but it suffered from the tendency still common in many dramatic series of wrapping up a situation in 1 45 - 50 minute episode. The exceptions are shows like the new BSG, " House ", " ER ", " Smallville " & a few others.

  • They were done in different time frames and reflected those time frames. Both had great music and characters the viewer cared about, but the story was the same. RDM's version had a proper ending, which the original didn't thanks to the suits at ABC. Great edit, BTW.

  • Fantastic edit!! Well done.

  • You're a bit wrong... Bear McCreary has done a great job with the new soundtrack... and, well, if the music of the main titles is the only reason for a remake to be seen. Good for me to have so distant point of view.

  • Bear McCreary makes the best music i have ever heard on a televison show hands down

  • Well as much as i loved the old school one BSG. the new one was amazing. I will hand it to you though i loved the opening music to the original. very moving and epic.

  • Actually they slipped the old theme in the show a couple of times. It's especially noticeable in the miniseries. They used it in the story as the 12 Colonies Anthem!

  • Both soundtracks are great. One old school epic, the other cool modern-tribal drumms. They are some moments like the Colonies Anthem's song that the old title song is there as said by jasonmd2020. And even a cover of Along the Watchtower.

  • What I think is interesting about "Galactica" as a franchise is that what was created as a campy Star Wars for tv accidently created a decent framework for a story. Alot of the concepts that make the current version good were there in the original just done poorly (by todays standards). A rag tag group from dead planets on the run from cold robots who want to kill them, this is DARK story. In the new version they let the story be as it should be.

  • Given the context of the original program, yes, it was a little cheezy. It was "Disneyfied" for a Sunday night family. By today's standards, it was a G-rated film. You could not have made today's BG in the 1970s. The Cold War, Vietnam, and a handful of other issues from that era was part of the reason for a sanitized sci-fi program that was produced. Star Wars showed that the interest was there, so BG:TOS got a green light. Bummer it wasn't allowed to run to it's logical conclusion. BG1980..ugh.

  • that was very good, thank you!
