two unique players. Magical Fabrice and Genius Roger. What a breathtaking video) 10 minutes goes like 1 second. One of the best tennis Highlights i've ever seen. I think that such players as Santoro will never be again on ATP. He is tennis special one.
@imabroncofan7 Not really, when I watch him today, I just think of how much he has declined and unsurprisingly so, the guy is getting older. When I think of Federer, I'll always think of how well he played in his younger years, even in 2002, 2003.
So lets analyze this... we got one player that hits pure one hand shots (Federer), and we got another that hits pure two hand shots (Santoro). Coincidence? I think so. But hey, if it works... it works.
@aznboi1398 Actually, he hasn't got any real "forehand" (We can't call that a forehand in my opinion) ;). But, as you can see, he played a great and amazing tennis so... If it worked... It worked ;). He was already an old player in that match... And Federer is the best tennis player ever. An amazing match!
@MrGuiCube Just because he has a double handed forehand doesn't mean that it isn't a forehand, that's like saying a backhand isn't a backhand because one may use a double hander. A forehand simply means that the palm of the dominant hand is facing the direction of the stroke, which is still true in this case. Everyone has a forehand.
@MaratSafinVideos Hum, I didn't think like that ! But your point of view brings me a new way to analyse that case ! Now, when I look at the situation, it clearly appears that you're right ;). Thank you guy !
@MrGuiCube Haha, just watch him like I do now and become very frustrated that he's making errors that he never would have before. Watching him is not good for the health sometimes.
Santoro is talented and very unusual tennis player, fed is monster tank who just destroys with great performance. So santoro's ticks can pass through Novak or others, but not through fed. He knows when to keep the ball on game from baseline, what to expect from opponent and when to terrify game.
It is a privilege to live nowadays and be able this gentleman playing tennis. This match, particularly, was a show, outstanding, I watched it live and I felt blessed for that,
Federer's technique and variety, especially in the second half of this video, is scarily good. Simply tennis perfection. Watch his smash on Santoro's excellent lob at 7:36 for example. That footwork is unreal.
Really entertaining match-up, this... the trickster vs. the master.
It is such a beautiful game: two master tacticians trying to outplay and outsmart each other using their genius and skills, rather than grinding each other to death. However, it was Federer, the more complete tennis player and better athlete (as evident in his superior form and footwork) who deserved the win.
I find it strange how Sontoro has no effective forehand (is it just me, or was he really using a two-hand forehand?)...he was definitely lacking a major weapon.
Tennis is so beautiful to watch

Take note, this was an aging Santoro facing Federer in 2006 GOAT-form. Amazing.

Clearly, nobody out-tricks Le Magicien. The ATP World Tour is not the same without Santoro.

Federer playing at this level would put Nadal out riding a tricycle of the court.

Both are the height of talent, the only difference is the scope and power of Federer.

Santoro played a really great match, but I would hardly say that he pushed Federer to his absolute limits. It was just a really competitive match.
3timeMVPNash 1 year ago
@3timeMVPNash Looked like Federer was giving 100% that match, I think that Santoro just couldn't get a break and win a set to make this go on longer.
