Thank you, betty. I was searching for a simple white hot chocolate method as I don't like the flavor of anything using other chocolates. I will, however, melt the white chocolate with hot milk. The chocolate shouldn't stick or burn if kept at low heat.
hello my husband loves hot chocolate drink, can this recipe be substitute with brown chocolate? what kind of chocolate bar is good for this? milk chocolate?:)
@bettyskitchen thank you, i did it last night by mixing it with milk chocolate, it was yummy. i have a funny experience with my blenderizer, when i pour in my scald milk, the container has a hole so the liquid went down the machine. anyway, i made new one and use my food processor to blend it. yummy
by the way may i ask here if i don't have cake flour for chiffon cake, all i have for the moment is all purpose flour, is this ok to use? should i be adding some other ingredients to the a.p. flour?
@zack199544 You can get what they call "premium" white chocolate that is made from the same cocoa beans as other types of chocolate. It does contain cocoa butter, but (as you said) it does not contain the cocoa liqueur. There is a distinction between premium white chocolate and white "baking" chips, but neither of them contain cocoa.
May I suggest using different coloured white chocolates for different occasions - like you can use Wilton's red "candy melts" to make pink hot chocolate for Valentines Day, or Wilton's green candy melts to make green hot chocolate for St. Patricks.
The first time I heard of white hot chocolate was in a little tourist town. Thanks for posting a recipe; the regular stuff cant compare, imho! Can't wait to try it.
@wonghiuwingfiona Yes, it is very simple, but elegant. It really needs to be blended to combine the melted white chocolate with the milk, and that makes it foamy; it's a nice change, and most people like it a lot! Thanks for commenting!
wow, i've always wanted that, i love white chocolate so its always been a dream of mine to have white hot chocolate :) that looks amazing. also, i was wondering whether you could do some sort of pork stew? i've always hated it so i was thinking if you made a recipe it'd probably make me like it :)
@bettyskitchen thats ok, im from england so i have different terms for alot of things, it doesnt really matter if you cant, i love all of the things you've done anyway. :)
thanks for another great video, betty! But I have a question - why did you not just put the chocolate in the same pot as the milk - that way, while the milk heats up the chocolate will melt and since it is surrounded by liquid will desolve better and blend in so well that you propably don't even need to blend it in anymore. or do you think that wouldn't work? I'm asking because I live in a small appartment and I don't have a dishwasher and that would mean less washing of dishes to do ;)
@007puma007 that would work fine. I used the blender to get the layer of foam on the top; that won't happen from just stirring white chocolate chips into scalded milk. It's just a matter of preference, and the way you suggested will give great White Hot Chocolate!
When you scald milk, tiny bubbles will form around the perimeter and then you know it's done. My suggestion would be to put the chips right in that milk and stir them around off the heat. Less mess and really hot chocolate. Think of the different flavors that could be added to this!!!
Betty, I think you should get yourself an immersion or stick blender. It's great for things like this, beating eggs, cream soups, fresh bread crumbs, tons of stuff! The best part is that it's so easy to clean.
@JimboJitsu Thanks, Jimbo! Maker's Mark is made in Loretto, Kentucky. We went there on a field trip about a year ago. I got to dip my Maker's Mark in the hot wax, and I begged them out of their Bourbon ball candy recipe. It's easy to find Maker's Mark glasses, cigar holders, toothpick holders, etc. for almost nothing at yard sales around here. You can go to their website and become a Maker's Mark ambassador, and they will send you gifts occasionally. They are a very cool company!
Hey betty! will it work if i scald the milk first,i put the white chocolate chips in a mug, then i pour the scalded milk into the mug with the chocolate chips, and i stir it afterwards?
@shimmerpole It will work, but don't expect the drink to be homogenous. It may have some lumps of white chocolate. Also, the blender adds a layer of foam on the top, but that is not necessary. It will still be a very good hot (white) chocolate drink!
I love you betty, you make the best food!

betty it tried it today.. but i had a problem with the milk i boiled it, is that a problem ?
MsXxXCatXxX 2 months ago
This might come out way better if you use heavy cream with the milk to get it more of a thicker consistency.

Hmmm. Why couldn't you just put it in the hot milk to melt, instead of using the double boiler? Just wondering :)!
queenrei34 4 months ago
@queenrei34 That would be fine, if the milk is hot enough to melt it. (You shouldn't boil milk.)
