Okay, first of all, this guy's not a scholar. They shouldn't mention his films--2012, jeez-- because that doesn't help his credibility either. A few things-- Shakespeare was educated. He didn't become popular until the 19th century and in his day, he was just another writer. He collaborated with other writers. There's more but it doesn't matter. The movie was stupid and insulting to a legend, end of story.

The literacy rate for England at the time was somewhere near 30%, so most people couldn't read. Also his comment about the Stratford grammar school makes no sense, either. There are no records of any students there before the year 1700, nearly 100 years after Shakepeare's death.
