U.S. Navy is my favorite branch of all, although I was really disappointed in the support that my local recruitment office offered to me. They treated me like I didn't even show up there, no interest in helping me. No matter what it takes, I'd really like to join the Computer Science field. Thanks.
There was a guy that went to MEPS the same day I did to take his ASVAB and got a 19. The funny part is, the guy had a degree in business. I just looked at him after he told me that and said, "I've been out of school for a year and got a 91 without even sleeping the night before. You sure that you went to a legitimate school?"
Do you know what a Navy hospital corpsman is? Medics for the jarheads. Every bit as combat oriented as a marine. Rangers? Practice squad for the marines.
Corpsman are the medical personnel for the Marine Corps. However, the Rangers are a Special Operations unit trained to a much higher level than a basically trained Marine. It is like MARSOC. Oorah.
I have seriously been thinking about joining the US Navy for sometime now and I can't say that I have had any doubts about it but I'm 5'3 160 pounds...I pray I'll make it through Boot Camp! Yipes! I know if I can get through that then I will overcome anything. This video really gave me the information I've needed.
You might want to consider another branch of the military, I was 5'4 and 150 pounds when I went in the navy and had no problem with boot camp it was a joke to be honest, however as soon as you get done with your school people treat you like shit they expect you to know every aspect of every job and it does not work. The coast guard and airforce I would recomend over the navy and they pay just as well and it is easier to gain rank without having to suck dick
I agree. I didn't get my esws or eaws but I learned my own job as best I could and made E-5 within 3 years but yeah, it seems that the Navy would have rather had me learn everyone else's job instead of mastering my own. I did my 4 years and got out.

You sound like an idiot that couldn't pass the entrance examination to get into any branch of the service! You can't even spell scout correctly! The U.S Navy protects you and this nation from seaborne threats and many Navy personnel have given their lives so you have the freedom to spew your retarded thoughts from your mouth ! Each branch of the military requires highly skilled people to perform their specific mission .. U.S ARMY RET.
Are you stupid? i don't even have a XBOX. Like an XBOX can tell me anything about ranks! Most of the people who play Halo don't even know what a master cheif is! If you think i was insulting Navy ranks, quit the ignorance.
RDML is the official Navy abbreviation for Rear Admiral (Lower Half). RADM is for upper half. You're already on the internet, it's not that hard, bra.
Unfortunately today's Navy is more interested in being stylish and earning honors in Working Women's Magazine than training it's personnel to defeat the enemy. The only real community left in the Navy appear to SPECOPS.
One of my best friend is in the Navy. I miss him a lot. I was wondering how many weeks do u get off after your deployment and do they let u have a cell phone during your duties or deployment? Thank U :)
1st question, It really depends on job and what the Navy needs. On average you usually have 1 sea duty usually consisting of 6 months out of every two years or so.
2nd question You can get in trouble when your on shore duty if you are caught using you can't really use most phones on sea or other deployments as you probably won't even get the signal.
i think it really depends where your stationed and what kind of job you have. i can see where it can get casual, but there also is alot of circumstances where you need to have your military bearing. the Marine Corps is very disciplined, thats one of the things they are known best for. i think they are disciplined so well because most of their jobs your life is on the line 24/7 when your deployed in the field, and discipline is very important in that stuation
The Navy actually has something called Sea to Shore duty where it's supposed to be 2 years sea duty and 2 years shore duty. However you don't spend the FULL 2 years out at sea. You are out for around 6 months at a time docking in different countries for a day or two, then you come back to the states for a little and are shipped out again.
dude, navy enlisted have to go to bootcamp too. obviously being a marine is a lot tougher though. as a midshipman staying in camp pendleton for a week with marine recruits, all i can say is that some of those guys are bitter assholes. i mean, you chose this road, deal with it.
Did you read any of my posts? My points are that Navy Bootcamp is very military like, but after you get out of Boot, that all kinda goes away unless your SEAL or SWCC. In the Marines, however, there is better discipline throughout. I was in the Navy.
i want to be an admiral like her i didnt know women can go as high as that rank

@otoole420 based on my experience, there is less opportunity for promotion in the AF - it is smaller service.
ronanne1218 6 months ago
At your present height/weight, you won't get through the entrance physical exam, so don't worry about boot camp just yet.

is she a rear admiral lower half or upper? i can't see her shoulder boards nor do i have volume.

she's a lower half.
on another note: has anyone else ever seen Rear Admiral abbreviated RDML? I've only ever seen RADM, with upper or lower in parenthesis.

i know that confused me to, some people get so confused with ranks XD especially navy =]

Dumb people are easily confused. All the info on Navy ranks is easily found with minimal research. Put down the XBOX once in awhile.

officer in the navy is the good life. Make a lot of money and u don't have to spend a penny everything is catered to you.

Man bootcamp was so much different than the real Navy.
redSG 3 years ago
How so??
Joelibra633 3 years ago
Bootcamp is so structured and disciplined like a military should be. The real Navy is more like a civilian job that lets you travel the world.
redSG 3 years ago
I thought in the Navy you go out to sea like every week to every other week and deploy for 6 months?
Joelibra633 3 years ago
Yeah you do all that. But it is very casual and not very disciplined at all. If you are looking for discipline in your life, join the Marines.
