Hi I was just wondering if the adapter sold on the alfa romeo site would be the same as the fiat 500 one? both say the are adapters for the blue and me system, just the romeo one is £10 cheaper haha
With the latest version of Blue and me Software and a 11 Reg Fiat 500 I am able to play my iPhone4 iOS4.1 without the iPod adapter. Alsoto clarify my iPhone is MAC formated. Also *.m4a files play great but not *.m4p (old DRM files).
Also the bluetooth functionality works whilst listening to iPod music on same iPhone. It even plays the custom ringtone i payed for. Although it is half a second behind the phone in playing ringtone!!
I'm really interested in using podcasts with the adapter. Can you browse "podcasts"? Or does this only work if you started to play one before you plug-in?
mate iPod only fades in where spotify is buffering. If you have downloaded tracks then no fading in occurs :) Same with my alpine and kenwood iPod head units. :)
If you plug your iPhone/adaptor into the USB port, does that mean that you cannot plug in a USB stick for ecoDrive? or are there 2 USB ports in the car?
Hi. well done for that video. i have a question that i hope you will be able to answer. you have mentioned playing other apps through the speakers. will radio streaming application work, do you think?
@craigm2 Does the adaptor give any added functionality besides control of the media player? if so what would you suggest I do, copy my playlist to a USB and then play it through there or is it worth purchasing the Blue&Me iPhone adapter just for the added functionality?
@flow1210mk2 yep - it's not easy to control, but the media player can step through playlists, artists, genres etc with the display in the centre of the speedo
That would seem logical - but unfortunately technology gets in the way. Blue&Me is built on top of Windows CE, which only recognizes Windows formatted volumes (eg, memory sticks, hard drives). So if you have a classic iPod that you use with a PC, you *can* plug it straight in (although it'll only play MP3s - Windows CE doesn't play AACs eg from iTunes store). So the dongle does the clever stuff to allow iPhone/iPod Touch to play *all* of its music despite Blue&Me not being able to see them.
because my 500 abarth is arriving next week hopefully and i just wanted to know more about the system as i dont live in the UK would i be able to find the blue&me jack at fiat dealerships?
I have a my08 Alfa 159. Great car except for the Blue&Me system, which is the worst piece of crap EVER. I tried everything to make it read my Ipod, and ended up with the ipod dongle which is stupid, because you have to pull it in and out when you start the car, to make it able to read the library. I'm getting rid of B&M and will go for a Pioneer instead. If there is anything Microsoft in a car, pull it out and burn it, before you loose your temper.
Hi - You can buy it off the online fiat accessories store, but they have a big backlog, so you might want to try rining up some of the big dealers like Marylebone and asking them if they have any stock.
Alfa Romeo said that its straight blue tooth no need for anything else :S

Hello mate. If you have the iphone attached with this adapter, playing on media player, can you still receive calls through the blue and me system?
Thanks, JC.
