Is it a little strange for her to be buried with Irving Thalberg while retaining her final marital last name (Arrouge)? I guess I don't know the protocol; or perhaps that was her wish - dunno.
oh yeah and if it helps i'm 18 and i have been watching Norma and the many other actresses including Ms. Greer Garson, my fave, since i was 13 when i fell completely in love with classic films. so maybe there is hope that they will return, just maybe. : ) after all it was classic movies that made me want to go to film school. i just got done with my first semester. I can't be the only one. : )
man that was awesome that was one of the best tributes i have ever seen you could not have made it any better if you had wanted to. i love Norma and the pictures were so beautiful and that was the perfect song. i am so subscribing to you : )
She was cleaver. She has survived pretty well in Tinseltown. Thalberg wasn't a lover but a teacher in her life. She couldn't be forgotten. Antonio Augusto from Brazil
This was a fantastic video - the best and most moving I've seen on Norma. I just saw that Warner Bros. has recently released several of her films on DVD if anyone is interested.
Norma made a lot of money in her career. It must have been nice to live as a rich woman with servants. Kinda like Oprah Winfrey or Whoopi Goldberg today.
Thank you for a wonderful tribute to a wonderful actress. Norma Shearer was a most beautiful woman with a great sense of fashion and talent. I am so glad that I "discovered" her and am happy that so many have fallen in love with this great lady. I've never seen any of these photos and wish I had a few copies of these. Again thank you for the pleasure you've have given me and so many others.
A wonderful tribute to the beautiful and talented Norma Shearer and her husband, the "boy genius" and head of production at MGM, Irving Thalberg. They were truly the Camelot couple of the late 1920's to the mid-1930's and his untimely passing was a great tragedy. Thank you for this posting.
That's a wonderful tribute with some marvelous photos as well! Norma Shearer was the best Marie Antoinette ever! She had a tremendous acting range, and like Bette Davis, she was able to convincingly play many different types of characters during her film career.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this today. What a beautiful, beautiful tribute! You have used many photographs I've never seen before - what a treat! Thank you!
WE LOVE Norma-- what a dreamgirl. -Such a great era- silent films, pre-code films---I am turning my younger family members onto her films and they love her too....
(they always comment on the outfits but are so appreciative
of the dialogue and the CHARACTER these actresses portrayed) We miss her!!!
Wow. And I thought I was a big Norma Shearer fan. You have a tremendous photo catalog. Most I had not seen before, particularly with her first husband, Irving. Beautiful song also to put your montage to. Excellent job befitting of my favorite actress. Thank you, Thank you.
Thank you very much! She certainly is beautiful and I enjoyed making a tribute video to her. She was so photogenic and she had a sweet, angelic look. No one has been able to replicate her beauty.
Thank you for the comment, and I am glad you enjoyed the video. :)
You true we are forgetting most of lovely ladies from movies and norma is one who has not good reputation that's why you have to continue your beautifull video...We don't forget!!!
It's terrible, too, that the greatest producer in the movie industry, Irving Thalberg, has been forgotten, too. He was truly great and a genius. He should be as well known as Steven Spielberg or Louis B. Mayer. Irving and Norma were the greatest of their time and unfortunately, with time they've faded.
Norma was a lovely lady and deserves to be remembered along with the other great stars of Hollywood. Sadly, she seems almost forgotten and her talent and stardom eclipsed by more well known stars.
Thanks to TCM these lovely ladies of early hollywood will never be forgotten. My 11 year old son has seen movies with Norma Shearer, Bette Davis, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford -- so thanks to channels like TCM we can share this part of our history with the next generations.
Great video of Norma !!! These women were the definition of class and beauty...it's too bad today's actresses aren't even close to the level of class women like Norma Shearer displayed.
Great tribute to a beautiful lady.

That was amazing, I've never seen the 2nd and 3rd to last pictures, where she's older. I've only seen her in her 30's!!!!!
