  • PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEO ON CANTONESE THANK YOU...! I SAVED YOU TO MY I POD SO I CAN TAKE IT WHERE EVER I GO AND PRACTICE. THANK U SOO MUCH ...I'M ALWAYS SURROUNDED BY CHINESE PEOPLE CUS IM FROM CALIFORNIA SO THIS IS A GREAT HELP.

  • Oh,I'm studying Japanese in university, but i want to study Cantonese because of some reasons. How can i talk with u as speaking lesson. :)

  • @bemkul911hk You mean you want to pay for speaking lessons with me?

  • tks for ur lessons. how to talk with u?

  • tks for ur lessons. It's will be great if i have chance to talk with someone who live in Hong Kong.

  • @bemkul911hk I lived in HK when I was a kid but I'm in Japan now.

  • Very, very good!...Dor jer.

  • when telling the time, you only mentioned the hour, like "sap dim" is 10 o clock. what if I want to say the minutes like 10.30, or 10.20? Is it a.m/p.m specific? how do we say "an hour ago"? cam dim or seung dim? Is an hour later teng dim or ha dim? likewise, how do we say: "2 hours later" and "2 hours ago"? is it leung dim chin and leung dim hau? forgive my many questions, i'm just starting to learn the dialect. :)

  • @arxcns 10:30 is sap dim boon (= half). You know how the clock has 1 to 12 on it.... in cantonese we use those a lot. so 10:20 is sap dim 4 (sei) goh dzi and 10:40 is sap dim 8 (baat) goh dzi. for am/pm we add 早上 dzo seung (=morning) or 下午 ha ng (afternoon) before the time. leung dim chin and leung dim hau means before and after 2pm. dim = o' clock ; not hour. hour is 鐘頭 dzung tau. 2 hours ago is leung goh dzung tau tsin. good luck learning.

  • @tkviper goh dzi means minutes i suppose?

  • @arxcns yat goh dzi mean 05. leung goh dzi = 10, saam goh dzi = 15 and so on.

  • Hi again (yeah i asked you some questions in another 2 videos yesterday), i got some more to I'd like you to clarify:

your "sing kei yat" for Monday sounds almost the same as "sing kei yat" for Sunday. The "yat" is pronounced differently I guess?

"sam nin tsin" is 3 years ago. so "sam yat tsin" would be 3 days ago? "sam gor sing kei tsin" is 3 weeks ago? "sei yat hau" is 4 days later, "sei gor sing kei hau" is 4 weeks later, and so on?

  • @arxcns yes. cantonese is tonal... 日 (sun) and 一 (one) are spelled the same yat...but sun is low tone and one is higher tone. you are very good...with the 3 years ago.. they are all correct. perfect.

  • Thank you !!

  • your canto has a bit of a non hk accent..

    ah, 對唔住.. 我太無聊啦. 唔打搞你教utube網民講廣東話啦.

  • @petbirany I was born in Canton, China and moved to Hong Kong when I was 2 and lived there for 5 years. Then I moved to the US and grew up there. I grew up watching HK movies and drama series. But you're right, I try not to adapt the HK accent because HK people tend to mispronounce many words often. I say Nei 你 instead of Lei, ngoh 我 instead of oh, ngoi 愛 instead of oi, naam 男 instead of laam, nui 女 instead of lui. It's because my parents spoke that way.

  • @tkviper LOL, i always hated people that speaked with HK accent, but I always say 女 like lui and 男 laam en 你 lei x3

  • @MakeableDESIGNS Lui, Laam, and Lei are all HK accents... I prefer Nui, Naam, and Nei. But of course I'm used to HK accent too since they produce most of the TV, movie, song contents.

  • thank you , you are a good teacher, very good indeed

  • I've "like" all your lessons. Please keep going. I'd love to learn more from you. you are being excellent cantonese language teacher. thank you very much!1

  • Will you make more lessons? Please keep posting!

  • great postings. looking forward to having more lessons. let's go to intermediate level.

  • Do you speak Mandarin too?

  • very bad mandarin.

  • Does you speak it with a Cantonese accent?

Just wondering do you think it is easier to learn Cantonese after learning Mandarin? This is the route I am going

  • does anyone know a good free online canto-english english-canto dictionary?

  • I think it would be useful to have a lesson about the tones in cantonese language. How many tones are there? What are they?

  • I intend to cover the tones a little later. Just want to get the basics down first....like the grammar and vocabulary needed to ease the learning for more advanced stuff.

  • Ty for the lessons :D

It is harder to learn Cantonese because there is not many resources.

There is a wide variety of resources for Mandarin.

My bf speaks Canto. but he is to lazy to teach me :-p

  • Cantonese is just a harder language to learn in general because there are more slangs, more tones, and harder pronunciation.

U actually got the biggest advantage of all since ur bf speaks it because the fastest way to learn Cantonese to converse with a native speaker. Good luck and have fun learning.

  • Yeah..it is very hard

I dont want to say one work wrong or use the wrong tone and have it mean something else lol~

.Although he was born in America he can speak it pretty fluently.

Do you know any books or online resources? I found a couple websites but if you know any good ones please PM me them :)

    Thanks~!
