the 2jz engine itself has about 220hp raw. With the twins i dont know. its over rated man, just about any car has amazing power with twins... the 2jz engine was a pretty powerful engine for being a six cylinder though but still id rather strap them onto a v8 instead.

2jz over rated? i think not. do some research. the 2jz is one of the strongest factory built motors ever made. they will happily hold a lot of boost without the need to open the motor and install aftermarket/ forged internals. most v8's these days are still using very old technology (ie-push rods) and only make good power simply because they have a lot of cubic inches. i have a twin turbo supra and trust me, these engines are very tough.

Actually, boost is artificial displacement. There is no replacement for displacement. Power is propotional to the amount of fuel you burn, and you need air to do so. Either with a larger pump, or force feeding the pump more air than it would ingest on its own. Learn a little before you post inaccurate info.

He does have a point though. There is no replacement for displacement. You can get the same power out of a 2.0 Turbo and force the exact same air into the motor as a BMW V12. In the end though, you can always boost a V12 and blow the 2.0 out of the water. There is a realistic power cap, though, especially for street cars. You can only put so much power to the ground before you break things at every turn, you know?

Um, okay. Even still something has to take the punishment of a ton of power. If your crank can take it, which it obivously can, it falls on various parts in the transmission. The gears, clutch, etc. If they all survive the power then (if rwd) goes through the driveline and to the differential. If both of those handle the power without breaking, it's down to the axles. FF, MR, and RR cars put power straight to the axles. Above all this, if everything else takes the power - tires may spin. :)

oh, no man....there's many turbos who can put as single cca.300-400hp. All depends how big is turbo. also...twin turbo have better linear power...no turbo lag, also, with twinT you can put 2.5bars per each bank(like on V6,V8,V10,V12). Single turbo on 8 or 10 or 12 cylinders is not very good. single turbo is quite good for 3,4,5 and I6 cyls engines.

The speedo went up just as fast as it did in this video but the audio was better so you could hear tires spinning...he is probably just spinning tires. I hope you weren't talking to me. They aren't the same...who said they were. The 2JZ-GE in the IS300's are different than the 2JZ-GE's in the Supra's. Did YOU know that?? Lexus 2JZ has VVT-i and Supra version doesn't. Lexus has broader powerband through all RPM's. Supra has stronger internals and bottom end. GTE block bolts right on to a GE head. You can transplant most of the internals from a GTE into a GE to handle more power.

Thanks lethal. That is correct except that only pertains to post 1998 Jap-Spec Supra's because Toyota halted all US sales in '98. The VVT-i 2JZ-GTE had slightly higher bhp and TQ than the non VVT-i versions. In Japan, vehicles are produced with no more than 280 bhp by law...or at least they advertise vehicles with "no more" than 280. US spec version's of the 2JZ-GTE came with 320 bhp. The jap-spec '99 2JZ-GTE with VVT-i had about 295 bhp. Again, with Jap laws, that 295 bhp could be understated.
