And, if Jesus WERE to exist (which he doesn't, at least not in the sacred context Christians believe) I'm sure he would see that the pastor was simply trying to get the message of forgiveness out. @BigBlue0002 It's true. As I said before it a couple other replies to this video, God isn't looking at just the surface of the action, he's looking at the heart of the action. For example, how often does someone pick on you and you say jokingly "I hate you." The person doesn't look at the words at face value and get offended because the other person knows that you are kidding. Plus the way my generation, my parents generation and the baby-boomers all process the Christian faith differently.

@GriffinWolf2008 Unless the forgivee was at the service and knew what the forgiver was talking about when he or she said "F you." I can't say this style connects with everybody though. For me, the traditional style of church, really doesn't feed me spiritually at all where as this style may not feed you spiritually at all. Everybody worships God in their own ways. @awolawol100 It is the parents responsibility to explain to the child what the pastor was talking about because most kids will of course take what the pastor is saying literally. If the parents don't have sense enough to explain that they shouldn't say "F you" in school, then they are not doing their job. Children shouldn't even be in the adult service anyway. I know not all church's have a children's service but it's really a necessity so the kids can have age appropriate lessons.

At first, I wanted to say this guy has no right to do that in church. But then I thought about it. The only reason we see the "F" word as a bad thing is because of what the world taught us. My only thought provoking question would be if everyone would get as excited if he only said forgiveness and didn't turn it into a parody... hmm...

@Powell4184 No, he was breaking the mold. Most pastors just give sermons. This one was memorable because it broke the normal mold that sermons fit. And, if Jesus WERE to exist (which he doesn't, at least not in the sacred context Christians believe) I'm sure he would see that the pastor was simply trying to get the message of forgiveness out. This man doesn't REALLY want you to say F.U. to someone on the street, he just wants you to learn to forgive, so lighten up and take a little bit of humor.

For example, how often does someone pick on you and you say jokingly "I hate you." The person doesn't look at the words at face value and get offended because the other person knows that you are kidding. For me, the traditional style of church, really doesn't feed me spiritually at all where as this style may not feed you spiritually at all. Everybody worships God in their own ways. He made us different for a reason and it's OK to not like one style of preaching and prefer another. It's not a sin.

Ephesians 4:29 refers to "unwholesome talk." We can argue semantics but it doesn't state that cursing is "unwholesome." We just assume that because at least in American society cursing comes across as unattractive and makes a person look unintelligent.

So, when it was actually written down, the stories probably got slewed along the way. Just imagine the game of telephone we played as a child. When it was written, it was written in 3 different languages. Old testament was in Hebrew, new testament was in Koine Greek and there were a few passages in Aramaic and Chaldean. With that being said if your child goes to school and tells the teacher ((F U)) they will call the parent and you will be at the school raising all kinds of sand trying to explain what your child is saying. @awolawol100 It is the parents responsibility to explain to the child what the pastor was talking about because most kids will of course take what the pastor is saying literally. If the parents don't have sense enough to explain that they shouldn't say "F you" in school, then they are not doing their job. Children shouldn't even be in the adult service anyway. I know not all church's have a children's service but it's really a necessity so the kids can have age appropriate lessons.
