Is it illegal to go there? If so, how often are the cops over there. I want to go there very soon (maybe today), but I'm not sure if it is illegal or not.
this is part of old staten island hospital Im pretty sure. we drove past this place a few weeks ago...def gotta check it out! great videos!!!!!! I sub'ed!
This was the original site of the Staten Island Hospital, so was the building ajacent to it. It closed in 1979 to move to its current site a 475 Seaview Avenue, Staten Island.
The building is still standing as of today. There was a fire inside the building this weekend which caused some damage but it was quickly contained. I've always wanted to know who owns this building, and why it isn't being sold to someone who will maybe convert it to an apartment building. Granted that isn't the best neighbourhood in SI but it's still a beautiful building that needs to be maintained. Should be noted the apartment building right next to it is also abandoned, a real eye sore.
This is the old Smith Infirmary at Staten Island Hospital. The Curtis High School of Nursing had a classroom in the round room at the top where we used to have classes to review our day after working our clinical hours on the floors in the main hospital. My graduating class of 1978 was the last nursing class at Curtis to work in the old hospital before it moved to Seaview Avenue in South Beach.
Thats the Willowbrook Institution for the mentally disabled....like Staten Island is a dumping ground so was this place...parents would dump their disable children here and forget about them...once it closed Andre Rand abducted a bunch of disabled little girls...you can see the documentary "Cropsey" on Netflix
THIS WAS THE HOSPITAL WHERE MY SON WAS BORN ~ STATEN ISLAND HOSPITAL ON CASTLETON AVENUE ~ CLEAN / BEAUTIFUL ~ IT WAS MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN ST. VINCENTS ~ WITH ALOT BETTER STAFF!!!!
i don't know is anyone has already said this but it looks to be willow brook mental institution after it was a mental institution it closed and they used the remaining buildings for schools/ the schools closed in 1977 like joey1168 said but the building not used for schools that were abandoned were never destroyed. architecturally it has the same layout as pilgrim state mental institution which was the largest mental inst in the world and if you want to know the scary stuff look up cropsey
the address is 101 castleton ave. in staten island. I lived in the other buildings in the 80's but they never coverted the castle. The castle housed the nuns and preists i believe. very spooky place. i did not like living there even though the architecture was amazing and there were some spectacular views from the upper floors.
this was part of the original staten island hospital. My father purchased it the mideighties and converted the other past into condos. i lived in one til about 85. There were so many strange noises there and the laundry room was in the basement where the morgue was. it always was so eerie there like someone was watching me and i felt chills. the castle was to be condos also but no one wanted to work on it. The property was sold in the late 80's and i beleive it was then abandoned.
This is the old Staten Island hospital. It operated until the late 60's early 70's. My father was a security guard there! It was real cool to see the inside, I have passed this building a thousand times.
no its not the monastery. this is the s.r. smith infirmary the monastery wasnt built like this plus is knocked down now the wagner college dorms are built there now.
Its supposed 2 be a monastry hidden in a forest down campus rd in staten island-it seems pretty cool.its also haunted
mostly in the basement because there was a fire and the floor collapsed and killed some children in there and a crazy monk walks the basement-the monk i dont kno how he got there!
Damn i remember going into this place a long time ago when i was a kid in middle school. scared that crap out of me. we entered thought the back because that was the only door really open. it leads into the basement which it very dark even in the middle of the day. it had many rooms down there but we didnt explore down there. i remember the big hole in the middle of the building. i dont remember if we made it to the top level of the building but i remember a floor with white tiles.
@Skinnyoompalumpa yes its still there i went yesterday but accept people knocked all the rotting walls down i bet theres asbestos in there too its all graffittied up lik alot more but there are still beds lockers and needles laying on the floor
its not sea view i can tell you that much i jus recently started a blog about staten island any stories or pictures would be appreciated ashcourtz@hotmail.com or ashcourtz@blogspot.com
it's an old psych ward where they used to torture the people. there was a story where this girl kept hitting her head on the door and one day she wrote on the wall in her blood and it said "this place will burn"
it was a hospital go back their now all you will see is graffitii all over it inside and out and alot of people will go there for paintballing actually a good place to play they tried to board all the windows up and etc but it all got torn down
That building was built during the 1860's. I was born there in 1955. They built a newer one to the left. I remember the wards were the old type with all the beds in one room. Nice to see its still standing.
um i been on the isnald 4 23 years nd when i was 7 i went there nd my grandma said she knew the people who owned it it was never a hospital/ doctor quaters... it was a mansion that was burned i hope this was helpful
The building is on castelton ave in staten island i lived up the street from there many years ago. That was the doctors quarters to the old staten island hospital which the other part was turned into apartment condos
This is the abandoned section of Seaview Hospital. It was ended in around 1920? It was a house of Tuberculosis patients and is regarded as one of the most haunted parts of Staten Island. Also, the mental asylum (hidden in the woods) is a house of many ghosts. Plus, mad kegs are thrown here.
@HatedAlways epic lie. old Seaview is in blood root valley, on brielle ave. this is the s.r. infirmary. the big condo building next to it is blocked up cause of a big bust on squatters there.
@HatedAlways You said that this hospital is the abandoned part of Seaview Hospital. The building in this video is on Castleton Avenue and was the original Staten Island Hospital before it moved to Seaview Avenue in 1975. Seaview Hospital and its abandoned parts are located in the heart of Staten Island on Brielle Avenue. Google "Seaview Hospital" and see what buildings show up. Then Google " S.R. Smith Infirmary" and " old Staten Island Hospital". This is not old Seaview Hospital.
the only babies that come out of that hospital now is "crack babies",i was in there a long, long time ago when it was opened ! its the castle on the end of castleton ave :P
I was born there in 1962, but the building dates back to the 1880's. It was Staten Island Hospital, but the hospital relocated to South Beach Staten Island. They started a condo conversion but a fire stoped it. Willibrook State School became CSI--fitting?

I used to live behind this place, adjacent to Stanely avenue, and I heard all kinds of stories but It would creep me out walking by it on my way to school in the mornings. Never looked foward to that walk either.
of the buildings someone wrote my birthday and some of our names on the wall there were plastic bbq chairs so Ithink that someone lives in there maybe crack abusers
OMG I remember that place in 6th grade after school my friends and I used to go there to see what it looks like in one of the buildings the floor dropped to the basement people used to tell me the building burned down and some people died we found a doll there One day while we were there My friend walked in the building and said that hes foot started bleeding he ran out crying Hes a punk I dont still to this day believe that and in one
This was the original Staten Island Hospital. It switched locations back in 1979. Hard to believe this property has been vacant for 30 years! As a 13 year old, I spent several days here back in the spring of 1976 for tests.
The building is the oldest one of several that comprised The Staten Island Hospital, opened in 1890. I know because I was born there (not in that building but in one of the newer ones that was then the main hospital building) in 1947. My father was Chief Engineer at the hospital until the late 1960's. I played on the hospital grounds and everyone (doctors and staff) knew my Dad and I had the run of the grounds. they coulnd have lock the doors cuz im always in side like today 5/12/09 and their has to be sum things paranormal because one time i was inside and i saw a little old lady next to a closet on the first floor me and my friends ran the hell out of there and im retarde cuz i still go inside but wen i do its so cold in there like im mean very cold
im always in that biulding every time i get in there its mad cold and is supposely were they to put people wen their about to die if u go to the place their is another building close to it which was also a hospital
It is the Original Staten Island Hopsital, do a google search for the Image and you will find a few sites with good information . It is a magnificant building it is a shame it cannot be saved ...:(
I've been checkin out a few videos of old abandoned buildings, and some of em, like this one, should be preserved instead of demolished. Look at the architecture in this thing. It should be restored and preserved to show the history of architechural design for future generations of anyone interested in blue print design.
Aright I have been there. There not taking it down because people were getting hurt I was told. It called the smith infirmary. It was use for Staten Island hospital and I no this because I family working at the new one. This place is also marked Haunted. However, I did not find any thing paranormal there. Now they lock the doors so no one can get back in there.
this is the original staten island hospital it is currently being demolished and a meeting will be held this week to discuss its landmarking... seaview hospitalis located and breille avenue and includes finer details such as whicker wheelchairs and mosaic tiles
Contrary to popular belief/most comments on this video, this is not Seview hospital. This is the old abandoned Staten Island Hospital. I know this as a native Staten Islander (north shore) with parents who grew up on this island. Trust me.
A friend at school told me that he once went in there and that there were lots of dead birds. I'd be too scared to.
Okay ... best as I can tell, if this was on Castleton Avenue in New Brighton, it's the ORIGINAL Staten Island Hospital. I was born there in '55. Shortly thereafter (maybe 8-10 years) they started construction on the new(er) SI Hospital which was just next door (may be torn down now). The brand new HUGE university hosp in Dongan Hills came much later. Hope this was helpful!
This is the hospital I was born in. In 1970. They converted the other side into condos that didn't last to long. My grandmother and aunt moved in many said it was haunted. Go to forgotton ny for more info.

This is the hospital I was born in. In 1970. They converted the other side into condos that didn't last to long. My grandmother and aunt moved in many said it was haunted. Go to forgotton ny for more info.
