@merysantapola If you look at the clock speeds, the GPU wasn't idling because I had a high def Youtube video open in the background. It Idles around 38C with a 72F room temperature @ 20% fan speed, if I were to set the fan to 100% on idle it would go down to 28-30C :)
@merysantapola Haha I'm surprised you're the first to say something about it! I agree the drivers now are alright but I'm eagerly awaiting some new drivers with even more performance gains! Greetings, thanks for the comments!
@merysantapola After an hour of Battlefield 3 with automatic fan speeds it got to 76C with 41% max fan speed.. My room was warmer than usual though, 75F, usually my room is 66-72F.
@Cone419 I wouldn't say it's limited to 33% on auto, but so far while gaming I've never been able to hear the fan whatsoever over my case fans :) I personally have no problems with noise from the fan, but I also play games on 5.1 speakers at a good volume and my room is 68-73F. If you can wait for different coolers I think Sapphire's Vapor-X would be awesome, I couldn't wait because I was using a card that couldn't even play games since I sold my old one, I bought the 7970 asap!!
@Drebln893 Awesome you won't be disapointed! 50% is my limit on noise, I can hear it over my case fans at that speed but it sounds like nice airflow instead of a jet! 60% oh god.. I keep it on automatic unless overclocking, and after hours of gaming it's still inaudible over my case fans, not sure what speed it gets to.
@AgentHydra Haha thanks for the comment :) I'm so happy, I sold my HD4890 nearly a year ago and I've been stuck on an Nvidia 8400GS completely unable to game! Only thing is my Phenom II 965 definitely holds this thing back in anything that relies even remotely on the cpu compared to i7 etc, hoping to upgrade in the next year or so!

Ok, I did not see it. It seemed to me strange.
I have XFX R 7970 Black Edition OC, it did not arrive at 65º C (load) fans 62%, at the moment.
In idle 25º C with fans 25%, when it arrives the summer will be more...
We need good drivers for 7970, very important.

So if you leave the settings on auto, the fan spins on 33% max even on load?
My money is itching to get get this card, but I'm waiting for better coolers, coz reviews say that the reference cards can get very noisy :(
