this is a jp6. i own one. the sound texture capabilities are intense. the bassline has the clicky attack thats pure jp6. though the pad could be juno 60 or jx etc
with all due respect, the CHI has some unique ass House. i partied in NY,NJ, Charlotte. Traks like these had that SOUL-FUL GROOVE. Even way back as 86'
Love the house music! On DJ Hero: it doesn't pay its dues, leaves Detroit and Chicago out in the cold. Obvious they spent more time listening to management types than DJs when picking tunes. Seems most people think salt water makes music better...
DJ Hero was probably made by a bunch of fools who know NOTHING about House or actually being a DJ. So they take some corn-ball commercial shyt and call it House.
@cavaleer DJ Hero, in my honest opinion has little to do with DJing, it's based on mixing, mixing, mixing, mixing, mixing... Mixing hip hop with classic music, house with electro, rock with house, ...
the reason this sounds more human than new stuff is because the production values are so different. nowdays you can do everything on a laptop.. and everything gets really filtered. i'd say ginuwine - pony was a very well produced song (considering it was made in 1993 it still sounds good).
well of course it doesn't sound as good as new 'garbage', because this is great and garbage is, not great. But new great music still sounds...well...great. As great music, like this, always has done. Don't be bitter just cos you ain't got ur finger on the pulse any more. There's always great music coming out, as you get older it can loose it's relevance to you. Go lookin u will find!
If you mean that some stuff sounds similar, well music always influences what comes next. There is some amazingly innovative music coming out of London, I dunno what it's like where you're from. I guess London took to Chicago house more than the USA in the first place anyway.
There is no 'superior generation' of music, youtube is full of closed-minded people who think that. Look at videos from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, all moaning bout that music after their era wasn't any good.
I'm very happy London and the UK is pushing the music forward. Me being a first generation House Head from Chi-town. I know Chicago DJ's and Producers don't really get the respect they should. A perfect example is the new game DJ hero. The DJ's the reconized in the game were from the UK and the east coast (hipHop). When actuallity Chicago come with the freestlye all types of music together. Check out Ron Hardy, Steve Silk Hurley, the HotMix five from Chicago.
Yeah man big up chicago, I love music from chicago and the city's done amazing things for music, u were lucky to live there to experience that time and place
I grew up right down the street from Robert Owens. I remember when Lil Louis used to pass out pluggers in front of my High School. Farley Jackmaster funk used to drive around a purple corvette around the city. Larry Heard used to come in this store called the Guitar Center and play around with the keyboards. He would play stuff than that would freak you out. True Pioneer.
You right my son likes listening to House music from the old Chi-Town era. It very unique rare Keyboards and beat machines were in their infancy and Larry Heard and others created some marvelous tunes out of them
Whoa...a Juno..holy crap. You can reproduce the exact smae sound with a Jupiter 6 though. I think a Juno gives you more control though. A Jupiter is pretty bad-ass though. n.n
Not even close...I've used both quite a bit, and the J8 is much, much warmer and phatter than the j6.
There is something missing from the overall sound of the J6 in the warmth and punchiness department...it just sounds rather cold for an analog synth with VCO's.
My Alesis ION actually sounds warmer than the J6 which I sold.
I thought this was a Jupiter 6, he said in a video interview his early songs were made on the 707 and Jupiter 6 as they were his first pieces of gear he got.
@Scrumbled In its own way yes, much warmer and 'nuts and bolts' kind of experimental flavour synonymous with early house like Adonis 'Rocking Down The House' is another good example.
this masterpiece will speak 2 you if meditate with it. it needs no words and yet speaks louder than any microphone. from the soul!!

I created an account because of (October33rd)'s comment. No, No, No bra... Mr Fingers top 3. He is the (HOUSE) music god bra.
Should you have said Frankie Knuckles is amongst the top 3, yes. But not the music god.
He created this SH1T.

@October33rd in the top 3, well who did he compete against, cause in my opinion he was rank-less?

Who's in the same league as Master Fingers? Please enlighten me because that would like finding some new gold and diamonds.

@cavaleer Check out AFX - Analord 2 EP from 2005 on Rephlex records. "Laricheard" track number two is an homage to Larry as the name suggests.
