  • There's a really odd lack of connection with uke, and movements that are clearly derived out of perception that in Aikido the nage (thrower) moves in a circular fashion.

In applicable/mechanically-sound Aikido, the nage mostly moves in straight lines and does sharp, quick 180 turns, while the uke (attacker) can be found moving in circular/spiral fashion.

  • เกิดประโยชน์อะไร ในเมื่อไม่เคยใช้ได้อย่างที่แสดง

  • What means olg guy movements in the end??? Is it lesson of spiral movement, or what?)

  • @Apinitis: it is. when you are doing aikido techniques, one of the main important parts is too lead the direction of your opponent using pivoting and your arms to create a level of tension as you move. he is simulating the movement of the person being attacked and how you would position your arms to control your opponent's movement as the attacker holds on to your arms.

  • @sehnsucht77

    Thank you for explanation!

  • @Apinitis: no problem.

  • Understand, these moves are exaggerated to demonstrate how important it is to use the spiral. Imagine a spinning ball or a top, if you project an object toward it, the spinning motion will deflect the momentum of that object. This is one of the most important principles to learn in Aikido and can, and should be applied to all martial arts.

  • бесполезность происходящего особенно ярко подчеркнул дед в конце видео.

  • Вот за это айкидо и не понимают

  • у меня только у одного голова закружилась глядя на ЭТО! ??

  • i have a question, are there forms in aikido?

  • @hgamer What do you mean by "forms"?

  • @FearThisChannel like how karate has kata's

  • @hgamer Surely Aikido has kata's, but often they're not as static and they are often applied to a broader application in training forms such as Jiju Waza and Randori. A kata is just to train the technique in all its technical aspects. A, say, Jiju Waza would learn you how to apply the principles inherited in the technique and use them in a more realistic way.

Hope that helps. PM me if you want more detail/explanation.

  • @FearThisChannel appreciate the response

  • @hgamer oh, yeah...never have sweat SO hard than when doing basic movements and other kata for an entire class...solo techniques with weapons, can go on for hours.

especially when Sensei is asking for really deep stances and strong movements

  • @hgamer: there are but not empty handed ones like in other arts. since aikido was derived from aiki-jutsu, the forms focus on the use of weapons like the sword, the jo (short staff) and the bo (long staff).

  • @sehnsucht77 thanks for the answer

  • I would never shake hands with them

  • The old man, Li Qinnan (Paul Lee) has passed away already, now Sensei Wang (Wang Xiujuan) is the chief of that organization. And what he is doing is the way he adopted some Taiji (Taichi) to Aikido. Gotta admit that I am going to check it out next month ( I live in Taipei), but she teaches at 7 a.m....

  • The lady is Teresa WANG , Sensei. .

The man is Shihan Paul Lee,, President of Aikido [in Taiwan]

He shows beautiful round spiral aikido, wonderful flowing aikido.

  • who is the old man?

    thanks

  • who is the old man who watch ?

    thanks

  • I think this demo is about showing spiral movement, one of the basics, its not about visible power and smashing uke..this is demonstration of spiral movement...this sensei is moving from the center u can see her stability...Like it!

  • putting some kung fu touch as the old man does definitely makes the aikido more beautiful!

  • this is aikido: watch?v=bAhBPa6-CJ4

  • aïkido,très beau

  • 1:43 hehe

  • Only when you have practiced a martial art with humility ( humildad in spanish) you can se the amazing beauty of a simple move.Martial arts aren't acrobatics forms, martial arts are one manifestation of chi.

oh by the way, this video is really great, has a lot of information.

Tai Chi means the ultimate boxing so you are wrong if you think that tai chi is easy as pie

  • me parece una forma muy acertada de dirigir la fuerza de.donde podría encontrar mas informacion?

  • hola, me gustaria saber q tipo de aikido es este.

  • chinese aikido? maybe it s ai chi do, the old man moves like tai chi moves or maybe when aikidoka becomes old it becomes tai chi do lol

  • to bad ... sorry to say, but i dont think there was one technique i would have to take Ukemi for... not a single one was executed in a good way....

  • @patrik79a I agree. Over compliant uke's make for crap demo's and this was a crap demo. Once again, Aikido made to look silly by bad form.

  • this is not aikido.

in fact aikido is more exciting than this movie.

  • i know a girl who did chi gong for many years which has only a partial hard martial art style to it and she got attacked in the street in italy Quote i dont really know what happened but one guy was on the street one guy runnin away and i had another by the throat thus remember to get something into muscle memory it must be done 2000 times.might as well make it perfect.then go hard

  • This video excerpt is really poor, gives Aikido a bad name. Why not simply market it like Tai Chi?

  • Tai Chi and Aikido have similar concepts.

Eat fast and you'll choke or get the hiccups, eat slowly and you'll digest better.

  • No, I'm not impressed. Do not trick yourself by training with weak and unintentional attacks. Train with real attacks and a sense of danger and you will get a strong technique.

  • Like where? South Central LA? No martial art trains you for that.

a real committed close range attack is similar and Aikido footwork teaches you how to MOVE and evade. You would have a hard enough time catching up to the Aikidoka.

  • Great approach she has there. I wish she found more logic in her motion thou. My impression only, but it still seems to me that she is trapped in "a must rotate". There is a certain spot where the technique is done and the spiral should stop. (yes we can say its an art ... she expresses he in the way she feels it. In this case her body and mind enjoy spirals...gd for the art, doubtable for budo...depend what ya wanna do with it. Interesting to explore eitherway) Like it!!!

  • her movements looks graceful yet powerfull

  • There are alot of positives to her or their approach, its not exadurated in technique, no unnessecary power or waving.. great relaxed and casual, in a good way, execution

no unessecary kiai not so much face acting.

Aikido is center here not the person only.

  • I want more of this

  • Alot of endo sensei influence or same style of interpretation . .somtimes she overexadurates this tho, it is not her own way it seems.

  • Only an Aikido studrnt would enjoy

    this

  • i am a student of aikido what are you talking about what kind of aikido are practicing anyways? do you think that kind of blend would work in a self defense situation?

  • No not in a self defense scenero, when you're teaching, a good instructor will resist more and more as his studen'ts skill increases. If a instructor resists 100% against a student from day 1, the student will never learn the move, get the form down then the instructor can resist all he/she wants and it won't matter.

  • you are not suppose to resist in aikido. aikido where does it say resistance? please don't say anything else cos you're starting to look really stupid do you even train aikido? it doesn't seem like it .

  • Resistance is important because it is a reality, we cannot only delude ourselves to think that the study of being a good uke is the same study as being a good atacker.. many dojo mix this.they think if your a good uke your a good atacker, a dangerous atacker is not a good uke.

The practice of uke is to learn to not get injured if your being submissed , it is not to learn to act for your sensei, or to give glory to a fake martial art

  • what "NO"

oFCOURSE all application works , its not about dancing, aikido does contain budo wich means war way or war tactic.

Aikido is one of the most potent martial arts to date, people think they can say otherwise just because aikido is a friendly martial art.

Just imagine being able to do what she does , wouldt it atleast be 40% easier for her to counter or tacle a threatening situation? is all that practice for nothing? no effect? I HARDLY doupt so, btw i do aikido myself.

  • her circular movements are a little bit exaggerated. she is more concerned in doing the spiral movements rather than executing the technique.

  • I agree and i see aswell. some often she is too close to the other side of the uke where she is probably hit.

If a middle ground is found in this , itw ould be great aikido
