  • try countersteering while in the air from a jump. some of the custom levels(non donut planes based) look like they have the traction controll of ashphalt.

    either way once you can get used to driving with Dk Jr. (or Bowser) hes a monster on the track

  • i see what your saying. Its just gonna take me a minute to get used to driving on rainbow road with him.

  • if you look youll notice that almost every turn that he takes is a powerslide, and at the end of the turn he jumps up so he can straighten himself out and cancel the drifting. i used to use bowser all of the time, and it took me quite along time befor i even concidered playing rainbow road with bowser on the higher speed classes.

  • REVIEW: Course 1 is just a blatant Bowser Castle 2. :)

    Course 2 is very good.

    Course 3 has very weird MOLE THWOMPS!!!

    Course 4 has PIPE-DWELLING MOLES!?!?!? and the course is blocky.

    Course 5 is VERY GOOD.

  • To WarOfTheKnights: Course 1, yep you're right, albeit with no borders and a cool effect which uses the Rainbow Road tileset.

  • Hey dude, how do you make it so when an AI, like in Course 2, jumps over it without turning???

  • Actually there's just two straight AI-paths with the "kicker" in between.

    Feel free editing the files linked in the description, so you can have a look at the project files yourself.

  • @Loulou7831 you have to patch the ips onto a clean smk rom. use lunarIPS.

  • @sYs85 Nice work on that Flower cup replacement. Although, Course 5 is a bit buggy. Can you make a Special Cup and Battle Mode tracks in your SMK hack?

  • @WarOfTheKnights I know how to make the AI not turn. When placing the destination points in the the zone in between hold right mouse button and hit F.

    Trust me it works! I've done it and it works. So if you set that the middle zone won't affect the AI.

  • can be done in MAKE. you can define different zones with paths for the AI, objects can be added seperately.

  • not with this editor. you can hack graphics by using various tools (items-gfx are compressed, so you need to decompress them first). i've seen someone who made a player drop a fireball (bowser) but this needs alot of hex-hacking-work i guess.. however there are some nifty little tools to change item frequentness (MKEdit helps here for example) - so perhaps this is what you want.

  • i'm afraid this will be way too difficult, as far as i know there is no tool yet that can add more tracks. it would probably be easier to write a mk clone in c++ (or something comparable) than editing everything using a hex editor, since most data are compressed or even double compressed and not all the offsets are known. if you are still interested in hex-editing you can google "mario kart offsets" - first link will guide you to a site that contains a .chm-manual with lot's of known offsets.
