They do! I saw Nimoy on a panel at a Trek convention in Vegas three years ago and he talked about fan videos and slash fiction and stuff. He doesn't watch/read much of it, but he said he got used to it a long time ago and that he appreciates that people can see so much - even sexually - in fictional characters. He's actually a really open guy (go check out his poetry and photography)!! So I don't think he minds much! :) Wich is cool

It's not thinking they are gay, it is just taking a second look at their relationship as friends. If you have read the novels before, Spock called Jim his "T'hy'la" which means friends, brothers, or lovers. In a way it reminds some fans of the epic poem Gilgamesh. There was Enkidu who was part man and part beast while Gilgamesh was part man and part divine and they were brothers, friends, and lovers. They completed each other and create a whole being. The same can be said of Spock and Kirk.
This is a great video, very well done, I also put it to the sound fo Saving Abel's Addicted, because that's what I thought it was in the first place and it synced up just as well. Crazy. Very good video though.

Nicely done. Incidentally, I'm an old Trek fan, writing slash (which indeed started with K/S) for four years now, but I knew Ted Sturgeon, who was the writer of Shore Leave and Amok Time. And though I wasn't into slash at the time, I'm pretty sure he did that backrub scene on purpose. Ted was straight, but gay-friendly. And yes, LoverGirl, you heard right. That whole scene is pure slash.

Actually, I've known a few of the writers No Longer With Us, and one currently. I was not into slash when I knew Ted, so we never talked about it. But I'm sure it was intentional. Remember Hollywood in the sixties would never put anything overtly in--but they did use a lot of homoerotic subtext. Though one of the current living writers claims it wasn't on purpose--I disagree. Gene had said as much as it was in a few interviews. I did not know Gene, however.
Haha, yeah, I read somewhere that the writer (I think) of this episode liked to slip hoyay into his episodes... I think I saw that on the Kirk/Spock thread on wiki.

Welll...Arelimoon is right. We feel, for the most part, that there's simply too much love between them for it really to just be "friends" type love.

Nicely done. Incidentally, I'm an old Trek fan, writing slash (which indeed started with K/S) for four years now, but I knew Ted Sturgeon, who was the writer of Shore Leave and Amok Time. And though I wasn't into slash at the time, I'm pretty sure he did that backrub scene on purpose. Ted was straight, but gay-friendly. And yes, LoverGirl, you heard right. That whole scene is pure slash.

Really? You knew one of the writers?!?! I'm a new Spirk fan, and I'm not sure if all the slashy stuff I see in the series was intentional or I'm just noticing it because I'm looking for it. That's very encouraging :D Awesome vid!

Actually, I've known a few of the writers No Longer With Us, and one currently. I was not into slash when I knew Ted, so we never talked about it. But I'm sure it was intentional. Remember Hollywood in the sixties would never put anything overtly in--but they did use a lot of homoerotic subtext. Though one of the current living writers claims it wasn't on purpose--I disagree. Gene had said as much as it was in a few interviews. I did not know Gene, however.

Haha, yeah, I read somewhere that the writer (I think) of this episode liked to slip hoyay into his episodes... I think I saw that on the Kirk/Spock thread on wiki.
