VERY good review. I don't buy any type of major purchase without doing my research. I knew i wanted a better music experience than sub standard earbuds and so called "noise canceling" no name cheap-o's. In my search i've come across some rather expensive cans-Dr Dre being & Bose being the most expensive but not consistant in customer reviews. Ask ANY musician & they will tell you these are the way to go. Been around for many years for a reason! GREAT retro vibe that simply sound SENSATIONAL.
Hi, I just want to know how these headphones sound with portable mp3 players. I have e-series sony mp3 walkman. Do they sound strong on them? How is the bass and treble while using on ipod and walkman, especially with EQ settings set to nil. Actually, I have Sony MDR-ZX100 headphones and they sound very muffled without EQ's. With EQ's there is great jump in audio quality. Do MDR-V6 sound great on individual stereo systems with amplifiers or are they equally great on mp3 players(without Amps)Thnx
@jamilka1225 If you are mastering recordings... or if you want to hear a true representation of the original mix... use the V6/7506. The XB700 are nice phones, but are deliberately designed to have a heavy bass response.
@MrROTD What about any other mp3 device? I'm a bit picky because I just need some really good headphones for school. Do you have any other suggestions for different less expensive headphones?
@fatmangiggles1760 They are extremely durable, probably the most durable headphones out there. I know some people who've had them more than 10 years and they still work perfectly. Bass is not overwhelming because these are studio monitoring headphones meaning they wont have more base than trebs. This makes for the most clear and authentic sound quality, but just use your ipod or computer to boost up bass on their settings.
While I am typically not a fan of Sony products. I have to say, these cans are stellar. I work in film/television and have worn these for 14+ plus hours, standing on set recording dialogue and then gone home and laid in bed the same night when you'd think any normal individual would be ready to rip them off of their head and listened to music until I fell asleep. Bottom line, they're extremely comfortable, have extremely accurate reproduction of sound and no fatigue.
@NasseerBoss they cost about 150 bucks and the reason I didnt get them is there are too many fakes from China out there. BTW all sony studio headphones are made in thailand so if yours says made in china, they're fakies
Hi I had a question: Can I use them for like daily use? not for studio use but like listening to an Ipod and stuff? Bass and sound good in that condition??
so, a lot of times, like you I'm doing something like podcast or a cover or filming something, and when I listen to it later there's a ton of background noise that I don't hear when I'm recording, will I hear it with these?
@IlluminateTenor Yes you can hear everything in crystal clear hd. I know cause i actully listened to this vid with my pair and you can hear a slight fshhh in the background. Great headphones and a great deal for the price too.
@Claudius2k Thank you. They are truly a great set of monitors. Try them out, you will hear sounds you've never heard in music tracks etc. You won't be disappointed.
Are these loud cause ive bought headphones in the same price range and they have good sound quality as far as clarity goes but they all have soft volume would you consider these loud?
@VietPlayer13 If you're asking if they will limit the volume you can pump into them from the source, no. Crank it up and they are loud. The importance here is not so much in decibel levels, it's the crisp, clear should replication you get from the MDR-V6's.
@DizzyDougTV or some other qualified person: I'm assuming since these are "studio" headphones, they ought to be very comfortable for extended wear, is this correct? I like to listen to music at work, so we're talking 8-10 hours of headphone wear per day. Are these a good choice for that?
@graceoverall I've never worn them for 8 hours on end. But I have worn them for 3-4 hours. The V6's are light, and very easy to wear for long periods of time. And very accurate in sound reproduction. They are a legend in the recording industry for a reason.
@DizzyDougTV Hey dude great review, I was considering buying these for trance and electronica music, is there good bass extension with these, I'm guessing they have a very neutral or flat response as they are used for sound engineering yea? Do you need lossless file formats for music to sound good or will 320kps sound ok?
People, get these instead of Beats by Dr. Dre. One of the best in the industry and if you research, it's almost an industry standard and among a favorite even til this day among studios.
@1986wake1986 Bass is not overwhelming because these are studio monitoring headphones meaning they wont have more base than trebs. This makes for the most clear and authentic sound quality, but if you find it not to be enough, just use your ipod or computer to boost up bass on their settings.
@MinimeDrummerBoi the sony mdr-v6 have been on the market for more than 2 DECADES! They're pretty much the standard studio monitoring headphones and they only cost 64$ on amazon!
so i have these , but theyre in pretty bad shape. the soft outlining on the ear pads are pretty much gone, only the spongelike inside is left. any way of fixing that ?
I just bought a pair of these from newegg for $70, should I buy an amp to go with these and my iPod? I heard these are the best headphones around next to the Ultrasone Edition 8 which are of course, $1500.
v6 and mdr-7506 are the same headphones, one is for the consumer market and the other for the pro market, they are absolutely wonderful, and can last you many years, once the pads start to deteriorate (eventually they flake) you can replace them with the beyer velour pads, and they will be even better!
Those headphones look very nice! Very nice price also. I've never used over the ear headphones although if I ever am going to get some, I'll be looking at these for sure!
This is ridiculous I don’t understand why you are not getting millions of views, you do these things like a professional and yet I see people who have no idea what they are doing getting more views this is definitely not fair. Anyway Dizzy keep doing what you do and know that you have a community that is following and that supports you man. Peace
