  • i was wondering if yoooou could do a video on certain post movesss like shake and bake or maybe the dream shake etc thanks

  • @ITZJ1MB0 We will begin having more post moves soon.

  • Shot Science .....You Got It right! My son will be on this relentlessly!!!!! Thank You

  • @Muzikoflife Glad we could help! Please check out our other videos and if you would, "Spread the Word."

  • I <3 ShotScience

  • @dropsblood we <3 dropsblood ;)

  • hey im just wondering if u ever did a video about shot blocking because i wanna get better at defense

  • @lol2its7me: Shot blocking is a very small part of your defense. If you want to become more effective as a defender, work on your footwork. Attempting to block the ball most often leads to an unnecessary foul on your part. Wall-up on the shooter and this can be pretty effective w/o a foul.

  • @ShotScience yeah true.. the best way to defend is to prevent them from getting a shot, instead of running and stopping the shot. if you want to get good shot blocks, i think it's better to sneak up from the weak side, because i notice that good smashing block shots come from the blind side of the shooter.

  • @daveako03: O.K. Remember, the "smashing Blocks" often are called as fouls. If you can merely get a finger on the ball it will affect the accuracy and less likely to be called a foul.

  • @ShotScience thanks! and you are right that kind of block you can at least get the ball from the opponents, as oppose to smashing it... but it feels good to smash it! hehe! lol

  • @daveako03: You are right. It does feel great smash it into row 14!!! HaHa

  • This is my favorite video ever... I can now have the ball whenever I want! Thanks Shot Science. But I have a question, how can I ask for the ball from a very selfish teammate?

  • @KentSadullo: Great question!!! You may have to "Counsel them" on your availability for the ball. The most important factor here is: "When you do get the ball, do something effective with it." Sometimes players don't really trust other players and avoid giving them the ball to keep from turning the ball over. Prove yourself when you do catch it and get the score.

  • @ShotScience thanks shot science!

  • @KentSadullo: You are very welcome. Stay tuned for more videos.

  • hi, shotscience... how can i move to open space??

  • @gryphus001: One way to create space is to use the release step that you see Chase using on this drill. After the catch you can also use the "Diamond." See our video on this.

  • @noodles356: Hey noodles, we will try to get that one out soon. We have a whole lot of vids lined up prior however. Stay tuned.

  • coach, when do i have to do post flashes?

  • @gryphus001: Post flashes are used any time, but usually when you are on the offside of the ball. They work especially well against zone defenses where you are not being individually guarded.

  • Do you guys have any tips for a point guard i just joined my schools basketball team this is my first year playing for them ive been playing for 3 years though and i need tips

  • @pixy4life: Pixy, what tips are your looking for? Position tips or general tips for all players. ????????

  • @ShotScience knowing where to be when calling a play or who to look at first when on offense

  • @pixy4life: Not sure what your question is!! Try again.

  • I need tips, I'm only 5'8 but i play post because im strong enough to rebound agaist bigger guys. But everytime I get the ball on offense I have a hard time scoring because the guy guarding me is alot bigger than me.

  • @MoneyMakerMinter: We will very soon have a couple of videos up about how to score from the post positions, low, mid and high. Stay tuned.

  • hehehe flashing in the post xD

  • @YaoEgg: See your humor! Different kind of flashing! Thanks for a little fun.

  • Hey Shotscience. I wanna change things up. I have a question for you guys. Who is your favorite player of all-time in the NBA and why? (He can be from any-time period in the NBA).

  • what about defending the post? im 6'5'' 165 and the guy i usually guard is about 6'3'' 200. he usually takes advantage of this by backing me down and using his strength. how can i guard this guy better so that he doesn't get a lot of easy shots down low?

  • @shady347: Well shady, if you are continually getting beat by these types of guys, don't allow them to catch the ball!!! Learn how to front them and deny the catch. You may need some help for the lob over, but your teammates need to help you here. There are no "magic solutions" to your dilemma. They can't score if they can't catch the ball. We like to front these players by using the belly buttons defense. Your Button to his Button with hand extended to deny the pass.

  • Kobe Bryant's speciality

  • @xiamwillx: You noticed! How cool is that?

  • Can y'all please...make a video in how to run the point guard position...I really need help cause that's the position I play and need some good tips...thank u

  • @juannacional01: Jaun, this video will becoming up in the future. Stay tuned to Shot Science for it and many others.

  • ShotScience can you make a Blocking video? I`m having problems blocking the ball

  • @Dead666ification: We think you mean shot blocking here. Well, thats not up for some time, but it is really important that you do not swing at the ball to create any contact or appear to make contact with the shooter. The really effective blockers go up and merely try to place a hand or fingers on the ball to deflect it just enough to affect the shot. They do not swing at it to knock it into row 13 for the crowd response, but to keep the ball out of the hoop.

  • coach, when i play against seniors in my school, i tend to get nervous. When they throw me a pass, i fumble the ball sometimes. Do you have any drills or tips to help me overcome this problem? And also, thx for all your videos. They helped me a lot.

  • @Rockflame: Hey Rock, it sounds like you do not have any confidence when you play with these older guys. Don't allow that to be a part of your game. You may also feel like they may judge you as a player. Forget that, they are seniors and think about how much fun it will be to get after them! Confidence is the difference between players and good players. Thanks for your comments about our site. We really appreciate your comment. Stay tuned for more.

  • Hi Coach Tom/Chase , where can i find the download-able videos?

  • @pointblankism: Point: Those will be available soon (this month) as we are re-doing our web site. These will be more in-depth tutorials. We will announce on our site, channel, Facebook and Twitter when these are ready to go. Please stay tuned and stay tuned for more of our videos coming right up.

  • hey shot science, these videos r great, do u mind if i put them on my upcoming website?

  • Thanks for watching our videos. The only circumstance we allow for our videos to be used is if they are being directly embedded from their original youtube link and they are not being used for your profit or to promote any products. Our videos are copyright protected and followed by YouTube's content manager for violations of improper use. If you're putting together a personal blog or something like that, we'd love to have you embed (as explained above) the videos to pass on to your visitors

  • If you do embed some of our videos, we would like to have a link back to check out what you're doing ;)

  • @ShotScience so its ok if i put them on my website about how to play basketball and you shoulgd make some about crossovers

  • king: Check out our YT channel and you will find a video on crossovers. Let us know what you think.

  • hey shotscience love your videos! any chance for you guys to explain some more post moves like running hook/ faceup, and spin/between the leg dribbles? I can do all of those but quite sloppily and without guidelines, although it works in practice it's hard to apply into games. Thanks in advance!

  • dark, we have a ton of stuff on Post Moves and the like coming up, both on YouTube and our website. Keep an eye out for them!

  • thanks so much! every time i got a pass i didnt greet the ball and i always got it picked off. :-(

  • ryman: How cool for you. Some coaches say on recieving a pass; "The last 5 feet is on the reciever". That release step is key too.

  • how can we shoot better from the sides of the basketball court or the sides from the 3 point line?

  • Check out all of our videos on shooting. That is a good place to start. Then try our "Form Shooting Drill" suggestions. It will take lots of repetitions and focusing on proper mechanics.

  • u mean the baseline of the three point line

  • sly: Not sure what your question is here. Try us again so that we can respond.

  • I was posting a respond comment to another user

  • sly: Got it!

  • coach how do u do that spin that he did in the beginning. also how can you control yourself or slow down or speed whenn you do a stop and pop

  • gs: More to come on post play very soon.

  • coach how do u improve your dribbleing??

  • yk: The simple answer is to practice, practice, practice. We will be introducing some ball handling drills soon that hopefully will give you guidelines. Stay tuned!

  • Nice video, looking forward to ur post moves!

  • dna: Thanks! We will have more on the way. Stay tuned and "Spread the Word".

  • im good point guard, and i would like to know, how to improve my driving skills.

to be honest i am a bit nervous about driving in traffic, could you please give me some tips on how to boost confidence, and improve my driving skills/ technique.

  • maniac: First, develop your handles! That's key! When you drive try to go your hip to his hip and look for contact. Young players will try to avoid contact, but this really puts the D at a disadvantage. The first step should be long and so should the first dribble. Look to get to the basket with as few dribbles as possible and REMEMBER "LOOK FOR THE CONTACT" AND THE FOUL.

  • I just have to ask. Can u elaborate what you mean by "hip to hip"? How exactly do we do that?

  • MARK: Hip to hip means that you attack the defender so close that your hip brushes hip hip. This puts the defender at a real disadvantage and he is likely to foul you. Usually when we attack a defender we avoid any contact with them, but that contact can help you by the contact being a def. foul. If you loop around them you give them an opportunity to get back in front of you or cut you off. Try it, you will like it!

  • That was fast... I'll try this, but I sure hope you had a video to show this. But thanks anyway. I''l tell you how it goes. Keep up the good work.

  • MARK: Hip to Hip means that you brush his hip with your hip as you go passed him!

  • By the way, do u mean that I chase his hip with my hip when I drive to the basket? Do we do it side by side or should the defense be behind me?

  • MARK: As above, have your hip brush passed his hip as you go by him. Go close enough that there MAY BE contact with the defender.

  • Also you know any drills I can do to improve ball handling?

  • HR: We will br having a video on ball handling coming out soon. So much to do and so little time!!!

  • I tried to shoot but I still get my elbow tucked in can you tell me should i tuck in my elbow and shoot? or just make a Slight 'L' with it?

  • You don't really want to "tuck" your elbow in. Check out the video on "Set Point" because that should tell you where to align your elbow. If you're still struggling, let us know and try to post a High Quality video of your shot and we'll help you with it.

  • thanks

  • How do you attack after flashing?

  • I love the way they demonstrate the flash, very helpful.

  • Another great vid, will try this out.

  • Sclip: Let us know how it goes. Good luck in your game.

  • hi, im a short pointguard.I can play well in training but in the game,i feel so nervous and im afraid to dribble the ball.Another problem is i only score 6 or 8 points a game. How do i score more points?plz help me slove these two problems.tq

  • B1ue:This problem usually is the result of fear that you may make a mistake. Don't let this shackle your game. We all make mistakes. As a point guard you could work on creating shots for yourself or attacking the rack. One problem for most players is that they have limited games. They might shoot pretty good but cannot drive or vice versa. It's really hard to stop someone who can do both effectively. Expand your game and have no fear!!!!!

  • thx u ill use this

  • Awesome! Let us know how it goes!

  • ok tomorrow is my next game

  • borj: Let hear about how you played. Good luck.

  • ok thank u

  • borjaman: Glad we can offer something that you find usable. Thanks and keep us up to date on your progress.

  • Hey shot science. Can you helps on my defense, I am constantly falling for pump fakes and getting crossed over. I also have trouble guarding big men. I want to learn the footwork and know where to get set

  • 10z: Falling for pump fakes is simply a matter of self discipline. Don't be so ready to try to block shots. We will soon have a new video called "Defense 101" up on our site. Look for it.

  • i think you should do a video on the basic mechanics of a set shot. alot of people do not understand what they're doing wrong and it's really frustrating to show them time and time again what they're doing wrong when they don't feel what they're doing incorrectly

  • Well, we've posted many of our thoughts on proper shooting form in our videos. We do have a full-length shooting tutorial that we'll have on our personal site in the near future (we're working on it).

  • you made a little note saying perimeter players can do this. im a point guard. how would i apply this? doing a v-cut then call "ball ball!"

  • OH: Absolutely! Good thinking.

  • thanx guys my shot is so perfect man thanx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i love yall man...hey but i need some teachings how to get out of good defenders

  • Thanks, HR! Defense 101 is coming out soon, so keep an eye open for it!

  • Great new vids ShotScience !

    Please answer :

I'm 180 tall and 14, I can sink mid range and close range shots very good (Thanks to you guyz :)) but I got a HUGE problem.

    my 3pters.

I saw all the videos about angle , feet and stuff , but I still airball/miss when Im trying to shoot, and I use a lot of my hands and legs.

I see a lot of people in the age of 25 , the sink 3pters one after another!

    What should I do? HELP

    THANK YOU :D

  • iMantanos: It is hard to do any assessment of what is going on with your shot without being able to see it! Upload a good quality video of you shooting so we can assess what is happening!

  • dude follow every single thing in here and u WILL learn ...just like i did now my shots are so silky smooth.Well here is a tip always keep your ball on the palm,no fingers on each other nothing!and shoot straight ,until your elbow goes straight and the last thing is believe on your arm ,shoot with ditermination not with tireness(make your self comfortable)

  • Well, we would say that you don't want the ball on your palm because you want it on your Finger Pads, but having confidence is definitely a big part of being a successful shooter!

  • yeah thats what i meant but i type to fast and words mess me up XD

  • That's what we hoped. Stay tuned.

  • WOW!

I love it when I see there's a new video posted by ShotScience.

    Awesome job, again.

    Thanks, ShotScience

  • Thanks, Bruno! We'll try and get them out as much as possible! Spread the word!

  • awesome tips i never chinned the ball when i complete the flash now i know to do that !! tyy again!

  • Great!! Let us know how it works for you!!

  • awesome job again! I'm not post player but I'm sure this helps many post players.

  • It's good to have it in your arsenal as a perimeter player as well! Thanks for commenting!

  • good vid!! great concepts!!
