  • mmm wrong runway buddy. in MSFS they only have the one runway that is still active, and the other parallel runway is rendered as a wide road. but in reality, they are both very similar in length, width, and texture. the only difference is that the parallel is the drag strip. you shouldve landed on that dritish looking road parallel to the real runway

  • there is an updated Gimli Gilider on Flightsim.con great remake

  • bad remake! it probably didn't went like that! you should take that again? do you have any flight detailes!? then it would be much eacier, just feed those flight detailes from that plane crash to the flight simulator!? but is that possible to do that on your own flight simulator and even get those details!? older planes were probably easier handle without any engine trust, but today when there is less wing area!? would that be possible to do that again with new planes! probably harder, ,maybe!?

  • while the both children were playing around the old runway, those children saw the plane too late. If the 767 hav a horn they could get away earlier or die!

  • A couple of thoughts

#1- Bob Hoover used to shut the engines of his Shrike down and do a lot of energy conservation maneuvers...when he flew past with the engines shut down the plane was as noisy as when the engines were a Cruise power.

I was surprised...the airframe makes an amazing amount of noise.

#2- American Airlines allowed the Gimli scenario to be set up on their state of the art simulators and nobody could duplicate the successful landing.

I understand that at least 40 pilots tried.

  • he did a good job! Well done captain :)

  • thunbs up if you watched this on mayday!

  • Amazing landing

  • nicest landing ever!

  • orange Annoying

  • how did you do the side slip

  • @AGKEntertainmentTV1 you use the ailerons and the rudder in a different direction. For example: ailerons to the left and rudder to the right

  • @conurelover

You seek everyones apporoval by posting on here..who you crappin?

  • @conurelover why do you say that like a freaking alien freaking jerk some people like to fly and are prepared for the consequences

  • ........Wrong runway yo

  • Smoke Heroin

  • WHO DID NT LIKE THIS UR FAGGOTS THIS RLLY HAPPENED

  • how u got the patch for all the airlines brand

  • @keneney You have to buy FSX for around £20 or $18 Its not cheap but really good ;)

  • @nfs506 18 dollars is a very very cheap. I remember when price for typical PC simulator was over hundred dollars. Simulators used to be cheap because they are not so popular as their are considerably less attractive to typical gamer. They are too hard to master.

  • @rybaluc That is quite true, but when they are mastered, man, they're a hell lotta fun!

  • I saw this on that TV show, Urban Legends.

  • how u download flight simulator?? i want it

  • @keneney go buy it at the store

  • @keneney go to google and search it up download FS X its the good one or get the XPLANE close to FS from the apple.com

  • words are not readable.

  • How do you get the Aircraft

  • Where's the animated kiddys on their bikes LOL

  • this actually happend, i saw this in the show "Mayday".

  • Bad.. You passengers would be horrified if U did that in real life

  • @corih97

Well yeah. It was a real crash that actually happened. This video is basically him reenacting it in flight simulator. It's not meant to be a smooth approach/landing - it's meant to show roughly what happened.

  • @HugelyBig Yeah i know now i saw the ACI Mayday in the side bar after i posted that

  • Note to self: next time I fly, be sure to FILL THE GAS TANK. :-P

  • Nice maneuver, it looked alot like the real thing. I always crash when I try to do that.

  • @SuperSparky10297 realy that happened to me so many times ilost track!

  • muy mala simulación!! No se asemeja con lo que realmente ocurrió

  • Luckily, the nose gear did not locked, because if it did,the plane would have ran into the kids infront of it!Later on,the plane flew again, nicknamed The gimli glider! There is an Air Crash Investigation episode "Gimli Glider" about the accident

  • @sarkizmutafyan yeah i know ive seen cool episode :) hey check out my channel i just uploaded air canada 143 gimli glider re-creating it on FS2004

  • and the guys cycling on the runway???

  • its was not more an airpark it became a drag racing way and they landed on the drag racin g way and not an runway

  • almost but the plane did not crash it seems like if it was because the front gear didn´t go down FORTUNATELY! thats way there were not dead people

  • No it didn't, but I imagine that if the simulator was not super complex, it wouldn't allow for no nosegear lock, thus making the simulated landing a succesful one.

  • the plane didnt CRASH on the runway...

  • Make a Video of Air Canada 797

  • u suck at landing

  • it was a special glider landing thing. there a video of the flight accident on youtube if u want the link ask me.

  • yeah ik what happened, i was just saying at the time of touchdown, but u did a pretty good sideslip manuver.

  • Really nice lnding and good video

  • Was Captain Bob Pearson a member of Canada's Air Cadets?

  • There is a movie about this staring William DeVane. It is intense. While I was watching it I was stressed and then after I found out it was a true story. Wow.

  • what is the name of this game ?

  • Flight simulator X I think.

  • damn shit

  • it was kinda fake because the engines were dead but you heared the engine sound

  • Just thinking that. Good point.

  • its the wind shear

  • @FSXfan007 im not sure is this is FS2004 or FSX but i think thats the sound of the wind

  • @FSXfan007 did you mate? you know most of the sound of a jet while flying (except for takeoff) is just it whistling through the air?

  • @korrdavl im sorry i cant really understand canadian, but yes it is by matter of fact

  • @korrdavl go on FLT111;s channel and look under Air Accidents Air Canada 143 should be at the top for a much more detailed video then this one

  • @FSXfan007 most of the noise coming from an aircraft is created by the air interacting with its surfaces; not the engines (except obviously at TOGA power). example, listen to the roar of the space shuttle as it glides down and lands!

  • @FSXfan007 Let me tell you something. Not because the engines are off doesn't it mean that the sound has to be off. Engines like a "Rolls royce" Will still be able to react on something. So if the engines are turned off. They can still make sound!

  • @OpticQ i agree with that, but this much sound is a bit undue

  • @FSXfan007 Yea lol, its fsx...

  • @FSXfan007 that was the air rushing around thhe plane

  • you straightened the plane out to fast and landed to far

  • how did u make this

  • how 2 repaint aircraft can anybody tell me?

  • damn u....

  • I thought that approach was quite ok but why did u nose up so much?

It probably reduced hell a lot of airspeed, thus slamming the plane onto the ground...

It happened a few times when i first started playing FSX

  • what a stup vid

  • fuck u

  • you had the engines running you cheater and you STILL couldnt land it properly

  • air crash investigation: deadly glide part1

    by ralphft

    watch this

  • the co-pilot dragged the plane to middle of runway where a railing was to slow down or it would of killed the 2 children

  • you had the engines operating you cheat. you would have gotten away with it if you turned YOUR sound off.

  • if you listen carefully, you can barely hear the voices in the cockpit on the tape, you NEVER hear engines or such in cockpit recordings, just the alarms, conversations and such, I am assuming the loud rushing sound is the wind coming through the side window/s. I would certainly appeciate the need to feel the air to keep me focused.

  • He means by the Flight Simulator, the creator of this vid just used Movie maker or something to cover up the original sound with a recording (probably of wind), and just enhanced the wind SFX to make it seem like it was in the exterior of the aircraft.

  • wtf? you clearly crashed

  • In a flight simulator tried by a number of pilots, they all failed and crashed. Bob Pearson (Pilot) . . what a total hero !

  • @CLASSICALJAJ their like "tadee ta dee da!" O_O mommy?

  • uh... wtf?

  • nothing

  • What happen to the 2 kids on bikes trying to out run the plane?

  • they got sucked into the engines?

  • No they didn't get sucked into the engines, they were some what 1/4th of the runway of the other side, and the plane was landed but still going pretty fast, then they noticed so they tried to out run the plane somehow in the end the plane stopped, I believe the tire bursts and the kids were like a small amount of meters away from the plane or so.

  • lol i was being sarcastic. what i heard was that the front gear didnt hold and broke so there was more drag as the nose of the plane came in contact with the ground. if this didnt happen i heard, the plane wouldnt have stopped. also when the plane rammed into the railing it also helped slow it down. from what i heard these two factors played a major role for stopping it from causing more destruction.

  • they gotnt sucked *engines dont run

  • they outrunned it. the guard rail slowed the plane to a stop b/c the nose gear was not down. if it waz then it would have been alot different

  • The guard rail, saved the passengers, plane, and go-carters. If the rail wasn't there, the plane would have hit the 2 children, skidded the runway, caused a fire, and there would be casualties.

  • I appreciate aircrashinvest's willingness to re-create past air crashes with any means possible. Flight Sim 2004 ? So be it. Great job.

  • 1 - gimli glider didnt stop at the airport

2- you did a crosswind landing

3 - no pilot could repeat this on a simulator

4 - the front landig gear wasn't down

    5 - the plane wasn't under control

  • 6-the engines were not running

  • 7-the pilots did a forward slip to slow down the plane.

  • 8- The pilots landed on the drag strip. That is the main runway, next to it is the grass runway (used for Cadet glider ops and not that visible in real life), in RL, the drag strip is just to the left of the grass runway.

  • No it didn't collapse it couldn't lower because they had no hydralic power for the gears. It wasn't lock.

  • This plane is still in service, the accident was caused by a miscalculation of fuel to weight conversion of the ground crew, resulting in half the fuel needed to be used for the flight to be pumped into the aircraft. And the fuel gauge proccessor was dead. The video didn't really depict the attitudes of the aircraft correctly, as it really was slipping to the left, not the right... Other than that, it was fine (but why FS2004)

  • Actually, the Gimli Glider was retired in January.

  • Correct it was

  • whats rong with FS2004 Garyliao it is actully very good when all the senery and everything is on on ULTRA HIGH

  • GaryLia - what else could we use if not fs2004

  • Any Flight simulator I guess, I just though FS2004 was a bit outdated in 2008, LOL

  • it is better than flight simulator X if you have add ons.

  • If he ran out of Fuel how come we can here the Engines running????

  • Its a re-enactment.

If anything it sounds more like the wind blowing against the aircraft

  • when you approached the runway were you sideslipping

  • yes he was cause he was coming in way toooo fast. i think its lucky his nose gear did not catch or else those two boys on the runway would be killed along with everyone on board.

  • Not just the exit ramps, also the high impact speed.

  • True, that is true.

  • I know you said that no people were seriously injured, but according to Wikipedia, 10 people were injured.

  • Scratches, bruises, maybe broken bones, using the exit ramps.

  • at least there are no fatalities

  • the nose should be pitched way up, not way down.

  • if he pitches the plane up he'll lose speed and stall then smash into the ground

  • wow alot of people like proving others wrong on plane crash facts

  • I see the kids on their bikes!

  • @HuggleBuns232 trying to outrun a crahing plane :P

  • It also did not smash on the ground. There was a flare (level out to smooth the landing), and yes, it was on 32L, which is now (and was) a dragstrip on which there was a Family day of some sort. People everywhere to witness it.

  • The real gimli glider landed on the old runway, 32L

  • I think you can actually change the settings to stop the nose gear from lowering. It should be "Center Gear" under "Failures" in Free Flight.

  • The Gimli Glider didn't depart Toronto on the day it ran out of fuel and glided to Gimli, Manitoba. It departed Montreal, and made a stop in Ottawa before heading west and running out of fuel
