So much is always commented about the lead singer, but I just love the distinctive guitar sound. Don't get me wrong, I was amazed that they weren't bigger with a frontman that good, but really, the rest of the band deserves some props too.
why does the singer drifts away so far from its original melody?....the power of this song is the singer!!!!! this is in my opinion a lame version of ..........sorry rockers....
@FLORENT2222 In this video, it's Les Warner. Les was their drummer from 1985 (following Nigel Preston's ejection from the band and Mark Brzezecki(?)) recording the Love album) until the Electric touring was done and the band was ready to start recording Sonic Temple. IIRC, he left the band on rather poor terms.
Saw the Cult in Roanoke V.A. in 1988,yhey were the opening act for Metallica that night.and man let me tell you it was a awesome concert the guitar player Billy Duffy for the cult was kick'n-ass that night, was a great night in Roanoke V.A. that hot summer night, will never forget it either !! CSC/10 in Lynchburg V.A. (U.S.A.)
mostroxx1 electric and sonic temple are parts of his downard spiral? grow a litle not everybody can be the cure or sisters of mercy and still live on the fuckin 80

Ian sing while suffers Preston absence´s on drums..... Billy don´t care about it, he thinks he is a rock and roll guitar star.... Jamie, well, he is enjoying making some bucks !!!!
Quite frankly, how can a band could continue to play a song that has nothing to do with the original version.... once again, since Preston was not on drums the Cult began its own downward spiral.... Now both Ian and Billy are trying to recruit or even clone a Preston drummer.... Good Luck !!!!!!!!!
you guys can all shoot off about drugs and this and that but I think this slow version sounds wicked.. you want the version you want go listen to the cd version idiots
I don't dig how he cuts his notes short when he sings. Which basically means, he can only sing well in the studio.. Rest of the bound sounds great though
@meinLiebsterFeind You've obviously NEVER seen them live and have no idea what you're talking about! Ian Astbury is one of, if not THE BEST frontman of any band!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I think its drugs and exhaustion as in the reasons Astbury fades out during the song. Duffy is f...up but not as bad as Astbury. The bassist is good but he is high too as in hyper on whatever he took not zonked out. Yeah its sad to watch but I saw them in '89 when they were obviously sober and they knocked it ouf of the ball park!
Love this song...that shuffley little tap dance he used to do!..anyone know where that video is of him with the headband doing that dance ...and with him not so 'off his face'??
Ian looks like he is having trouble keeping it together. I know he drank to excess, but he did H too right? I mean, he is on H in this video, or some downer. There is Holy Barbarian footage where he looks high too, and another member of the ban says that he is on heroin. How long has he been clean, anyone know?
Long live the Cult! but this is just sad to watch, Ian is so fucked up his eyes are rolling back in his head and he just stops singing in the middle of a already sketchy song! He and the drummer are both too hi on H.
Agreed. This is Heartbreaking to see Ian and Nigel like this. Ian looks like he HATED the drug- as well he should. Good thing he gave all that shit up for good, shortly thereafter. Too good muscians, the Cult are for that abuse of themselves.
I liked Les Warner's drumming very much at this era of the Cult. Great sense of groove and great use of color. He added alot and gave life to these songs. If you ask me he played better than Matt Sorum. TJMO
This drummer died. After this one they had Les Warner, Matt Sorum en so on.I think only the dreamtime-album was drummed by the one you see in this vid.For the love album he was to drugged out?
If you're referring to Nigel Preston I was already aware that he kicked the bucket. I was commenting on the blonde fellow above which I take it is Les Warner. He seems to fit right in.

Nigel died in the early 90s due to drug related issues. The Cult have John Tempesta playing for them now.
