@tayloreasley Cub pilot? I was wondering about these planes. They still run amazing don't they? I see a few for sale and they're going for mostly 40 grand. One of these days I'll get a very good job and I'll save up money. I just want something for recreational and maybe some travel, in state travel most likely. Should I get something like a Piper J cub? You know, pilot's license and everything? Or for something less expensive and cheaper to operate, a two passenger ultralight?
@10blood - At least here in the USA, two seats = light sport pilot's license minimum these days. If you learn to fly Ultralights first, something like a Koala (ultralight, looks like a J3 Cub) should suit...
@10blood The cheapest way to get in the air in your own plane with 2 seats would be to get your private and a Cessna 150. For 20-25k you could have your license AND your plane paid for with fewer limitations on what you can fly and when. Sport licenses cost half as much, but the planes expensive and you have a lot of limitations. Also, Cubs are fabric which means a hangar expense. My advice, get a private and a C150 and just admire the Cubs for now....btw, I have a Private and a C152.
