Indeed, Crowley post-poned the Abramelin ritual to go to Mathers and then to London where the Golden Dawn internal conflict escalated to juridical implications. He didn't meet Rose until much later, after a few mountain climbing expeditions and a trip to China and then Ceylon/Sri Lanka where he visited Allan Bennett. The (mainstream) documentaries and accounts on Crowley are all very misinforming and contradictory. Not a shocking surprise considering the subject :)

In the documentary on here, "Aleister Crowely: The Other Loch Ness Monster", it says he broke off the ritual because his master in the Golden Dawn called him to Paris and he looked up to him at the time.

This one says he had already left the Golden Dawn and broke off the ritual due to his meeting his wife and going on a honeymoon...
