Thanks for posting your video, I thought it was quite well done. I'm a wheelchair user myself and I'm curious, is it a commercial service you are offering?
A thought on your rhetorical question on people bending down to speak with chair users, if it's noisy, I appreciate some one doing that, but I feel very uncomfortable when people kneel down and stay there to speak with me. Please tell people there is at least one chair use who wishes people never did that again.
metalmigrant, Thank you for your comments. I do tell my audiences and training participants that bending down is not necessary. I recommend they pull up a chair and have a seat, if it will be a lengthy conversation. And I stress that leaning on or hanging on the wheelchair is always out of the question. Yes, the training is offered commercially to both public and private sector organizations. For more information, please email me at: darleneobrien@comcast.net
The question is not how to get managers’ emotional commitment but why manager’s don’t give it even if they like their company.
Most managers have plenty of emotional commitment to give to their jobs. If they can be convinced it’s safe and sensible to give it.
