But however these snakes are handled quite a bit so they may be handler trained. I dont think they should go out to find wild snakes though they will get bit and possibly die or get hemotoxin rot. It does say that those who believe in the gospel will drive out demons, speak in toungues, pick up serpents with their hands and drink poison without being harmed, and heal the sick by the laying of hands. Read Mark 16:15-18. The term apostolic and pentecostal apply to a wide variety of churches. Us Catholics call ourselves apostolic.

Those gifts such as tongues, healing, discernment, etc. are still alive today and never died. I believe this as a former pentecostal, and now as a catholic. I believe snake handlers are rightfully and Biblically showing their faith, but I don't believe it is neccessary for salvation. God bless.

Since becoming Catholic, I've been expected to study scripture almost daily. I've grown there. If you read my previous posts, you know that I believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I'm from very pentecostal Appalachia. If you can't pray in the Holy Spirit in your closet, then what you are getting at church is not real.

1. The NIV leaves out many verses from the Bible (one example out of many, Acts 8:37, the verse number itself is skipped completely over; this happems again and again, and leaves out portions of verses all known to be in early reliable texts).
As for snake handlers, they aren't mentioned in the Bible at all. The end of Mark 16 is there so Christians will know that the protective hand of God is with them to protect them in their daily ministry, i. e. ordinary activiity.

Since becoming Catholic, I've been expected to study scripture almost daily. I've grown there. If you read my previous posts, you know that I believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I'm from very pentecostal Appalachia. If you can't pray in the Holy Spirit in your closet, then what you are getting at church is not real.

@cabe325 You're one of the first "pentecostals" use the phrase "gifts of the Holy Spirit", Pentecostals don't even refer to the Holy Ghost as the Holy Spirit. They also know that the "church" is not the building that you go to to worship. I don't know what type of "pentecostal experience" you've had, but it doesn't sound like it was a genuine one. Like I said there are a lot of buildings with the word PENTECOST on them that are not truly "PENTECOSTAL".

@Trumpetz811 Is Holy Ghost different than Holy Spirit? Is Emmanuel different from Christ? Is Jehovah and Yahweh different from God? Has your pentecostal experience involved serpent handling or drinking strychnine? Is penetecostal a denomination to you, united in doctrine and covenant? Don't play words on me. Of course church is the body of believers. Did I say different? And of course you can get a real "dose of the ghost" at "church". But if thats the only place you get it, it ain't real.

do you know what "forsake not the assembly of yourselves together" means? and like I said Pentecostals don't typically use the phrase "holy spirit" I didn't say it was different than the holy ghost (reread it) Trinitarians typically use the phase "holy spirit", but hey, thats what catholics are, so there you go. What is the evidence of recieving the "holy spirit" do catholics show the "evidence" as found in Acts. And what about all of those statues and praying to Mary?

1. The NIV leaves out many verses from the Bible (one example out of many, Acts 8:37, the verse number itself is skipped completely over; this happems again and again, and leaves out portions of verses all known to be in early reliable texts).
As for snake handlers, they aren't mentioned in the Bible at all. The end of Mark 16 is there so Christians will know that the protective hand of God is with them to protect them in their daily ministry, i. e. ordinary activiity.
