i've ALWAYS had a problem with double beat...i quit dancing a few years back. im really thinking about getting back in shape and busting my ass to get back into it mainly for my young son. heck yes ! =]
im a dancer and it sucks becasue i cant dance doubel beat yet :/ and iv been a dancer since i was a lil girl i never really cared for it but htie year im gonnabust a msision and practice it all the time .
I love watching the dancers (i cannot dance myself) but when i watch i feel i am with them, they take me into their world as they move - its beautiful.
hmm i want to dance fancy again! its something that needs to be done! im alright with all the challenges and everything that will come with it! i love fancy shawl. its apart of who i am
@ 05loveangle I am a southern women's traditional dancer.....I have danced for 21.6 years, starting at 6 months old......I know I am a great dancer, but what a lot of people forget, is that there is always going to be at least 2-3 people in your category for contest that are better than you.....it doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's how you dance.....

(for all the right reasons) the only reason i dance is for my elders and people who cannot dance, i also dance for my mom who is not here anymore. you shouldnt care if you win or lose all that really matters is if you love to dance and just be out there and having fun. ive been dancing since i could walk, and i dont say im better than anyone else thats rude.
05Loveangle>from reading what others have posted & since ur so intrigued w/ trying to be all grown up-let me wisper something in ur ear I'm old enough to be your mother & YES Ive had my shares of a 1st place Fancy Dancing (over 230-1st places alone) It dosn't matter how good u "think" u r, in the end, it's what u've gained from the experience-cuz no ribbon-or-1st prize trophy, will make u a better Native American it's whats in ur heart & the ppl to share it with, that makes u a better person.
wow it seems as if tha designs for outfits have changed alot since i quit dancin, there still pretty bt there designs dont mean anything & u kant tell which tribe there from bt awesome job dancin ladys

@05loveangle...y dont u say that to an elder or ur grandmother.ur so rude.i doubt u even kno how to do a straight.im only 13 and ive won over 35 prizes for best young fancy shawl dancer.jus thank all ur relations that u even have a regalia.dresses are earned.u shouldnt of even got one.hasnt anyone ever taught u the 7 grandfather teachings,well u should skim them over

Its about sharing to the people of all our hard work of picking that shawl & spending many hours of practice we have put in, showing our pride as first nations. Well thats how it is for me
i like how theyre not all contemp. double beat is nicer when its not all contemp. like wemons crow style double beat, even thought theyre traditional they can rock out lol.
