Unfortunately, the display doesn't work anymore, though (after using it via USB with my laptop for a couple of hours, it died o_O), and unfortunately, it's no longer on sale at the place I bought it from, meaning I'd need to spend nearly £100 to get a new one.
I'm not the one listing adjectives from a dictionary, nor pressing "Post Comment" by mistake instead of going onto a new line, nor trolling around your videos.
Yes, I would. As of now, my program reads StepMania's log file to see what audio file is being loaded, and from that it can read the SM file and read the #TITLE, #ARTIST, etc. The problem's that the log file is not updated as often (number-of-characters-wise) as is necessary for this to work 100% of the time.
While making programs for the display, I've made 2 text files (one for text, one for graphics) explaining how to control the display. The text one's content is mainly gathered from forums.
I'll put the files on my server and put links in the video description now - please check back and refresh the page in 5 minutes or so. The only additional thing I can think of which I haven't mentioned is that, when sending groups of graphics, wait for about 20 mS before sending the next group because the display seems to have a slow flash memory.
Okay, done. I had a quick glance at the files, and it seems that the info for how to send text to the display kinda jumps in at the deep end and doesn't explain the basics - if you need any help, please feel free to message me. ;)
Using D, F, I and L is much more comfortable for me than using the arrow keys with 2 hands. My hands can be further apart meaning that either my left hand doesn't have to be underneath my right one, or my right one doesn't have to be twisted into a weird angle. If I want to play with 1 hand then J, K, I and L all work together too. There really is no problem, but thanks for the concern. Swapping chips won't help because it is the way in which the keys' circuits are grouped which causes this.
looks like something you would see with an awsome ddr machine *gasp* konami should do that with their ddr machines (it is konami right?)

Yes, it's Konami who invented DDR.

You'd have a much easier time with a source code modification, yeah?
Anyway, mind sending me the source code? I've been meaning to code a peripheral manager for a while, and that might not be a bad start.

I don't see what the problem was with the keyboard. I use a and s for left and down, and k and l for up and right. works good IMO.
lawl I've got vids too

somethingUnreal i can only give 2 suggestions for your keyboard:
1. get a new one :S
2. swap the keys of your new keyboard to your old keyboard (if it fits)
3. or just open both keyboards and swap the keyboard chip of the old one with the new one (risky) i can't garantee any success :S
