while i don't agree with the ethical idea of "might makes right" i like this kinda stuff. I like hardcore where I can hear what they're saying. I think it unethical to pull the plug, censorship and all that and irresponsible in cases of causing riots. They should've let them play longer in the interest of public safety.
I love hardcore, but Negative FX and their fans were a bunch of raging assholes. Mission of Burma was ten times the punk band that Negative FX could've ever hoped to be, and they had to say "Look how punk we are!" and interrupt their last show. Totally ruined FX's legacy in my book. Shit they weren't even the best hardcore band in their own local scene.
yeah but the last rites ep is #1 on the hip-hop charts these days. "chunks" goes down in the H/C history handbook. Its probably a Boston thing, you wouldn't understand
holy fuck i remember being at this show in boston it was mission of burma's last show there must of been like at least 3000 people there probably more and within minutes after Negative FX took the stage the soundman pulled the plug and there was a riot jack kelly shouted "we ain't gonna stop fuck you!" and the soundman got a bass over his head and then they continued to play--that soundman wanted to end the show cause of the riot but negative fx wanted to continue playing good ass show nice vid!
straight edge is pretty gay...all these angry sXe jackballs look like the kind of people that need a shot of whiskey the most...talk about stressed out looking constipated apes to the max. rockin' show though...not that i was there...i was probably pooping in some diapers somehwere.
the book and movie are both slanted towards the most marketable performers of the era. There would'nt of even been a punk movement without the Ramones.
BLACK FLAG CAN FUCK THEM SELVES(ABSOULTE GARBAGE). AND THE BAD BRAINS ARE FROM THE EAST COAST. tHE BOOK AND THE MOVIE AMERICAN HARDCORE ARE SOME TWISTED CORPRATE TAKE ON THE WHOLE SCENE A UNDEFINABLE THING,THAT HARDCORE WAS.
How do you mean? I thought the book was based on interviews with all the bands, members and fans during that era. In other words, during those years, not post era.
I´m just wondering what you base your opinon about the twisted corporate part on. I´n not taking sides, in just interested.
slapshot, Negative FX started as a result of Bad Brains and Black Flag hitting the East Coast. So, who were "influential"? See American Hardcore for the history of hardcore which started in the West Coast.
This is the only footage that exists of Negative FX. When the camera goes out at the end, it is because someone cut the power off in the whole building. Negative FX were VERY influential on quite a number of hardcore bands throughout the last 25 years, and I will argue this point if need be. Whoever said the 'gay jocks' comment was obviously looking for something else when he decided to watch this video.
I always thought that Last Rights were better. Might Makes Right is pretty much one of Negative FX's few good songs. Most of the rest of it is just stupid, utterly short, incoherent thrashing with apparently little thought put into it.
your a fucking idiot, alot of the songs have structure and actual riffs and the drumming is out of this world. not to mention negative fx was one of the most influential hardcore bands of all time.............
I know what sounds good to me, don't be an ass. The riffs they came up with are good, and a number of Negative FX songs are good, but seriously, there's not much I can make out of songs like Punch In the Face or Primary Attack.
And "one of the most influential hardcore bands of all time" isn't really much of an argument.
The original logo from Mystic records days for NOFX was the skull with Syringe in it's mouth with both hands on it's head..like the drug was having NO FX..
