  • With ease?

  • Montjeu's my favorite all-time European horse. A total beast on the turf. And he's proven himself to be a fantastic sire as well. There's never any question about his offspring being able to stay 1-1/2. I really thought he'd be a back to back winner when he came back to the Arc in 2000. But Sinndar proved to be too much in 2000.

  • it looks sunny but the ground was bottomless, this was the GREATEST Arc!!!

  • ALL NEVER FOGET THIS RACE,I HAD A WEEKS WAGES ON MONJEU

  • no excuses Montjeu won the race he was better horse.ECP had an easy lead just lost 2 a better horse. nothing he can do.

  • I love Miesque Line. so closeee.

  • I was there that day, Montjeu and El Condor looked in a different league to the rest in the paddock, both incredibly beautiful horses.

They gave us a great race and ECP lost nothing in defeat. Montjeu was a magnificent racehorse and hadn't been out of a canter since June.

  • @Stanters1967 althought it looks that way... thats a massive claim

some absolute beauties running around in this arc

tiger hill, daylami, fantastic light, croco rouge, el condor passa, montjeu, leggere.. pretty vintage year

massive soft spot for el condor passa and montjeu.. both perfect

  • You're right there's no such thing as a bad Arc. El Condor Pasa was a great horse.

  • Plus fillies get a weight for gender allowance.

NB Can't believe the great Daylami didn't fire at all when it mattered most here.

  • i was 3

  • weight for age you idiots. montjeu carried less than ECP because he was three and ECP was four. Three year olds aren't fully developed so need the allowance to compete. Montjeu was a better horse than ECP. End of

  • the way that montjeu could make up ground on his opponents in effortless style was breathtaking. his king george win in 2000 was sheer class.

  • any horse that produced Hurricane Run has got to be something of the highest quality

  • curlin might race in this damn if could win what a beast

  • Great run El Condor Pasa after doing all the work in front. His was the best run in the race.

  • El Condor Pasa lost due to the hadicap weight

  • it was a group one, would they all not have the same weight

  • yes...all same weight in group one to my understanding

El Condor Pasa lost because he went down to the best horse of his generation.......Montjeu

  • Horses aged 4 or above would of carried more weight than the 3 year olds. Strictly speaking El Condor Pasa who was giving Montjeu 8lbs was the best horse in the race as he was only beaten half a length. However ECP got first run on Montjeu who was boxed in entering the home straight, so one could argue that Montjeu may of won easier had Kinane got him out to challenge when ECP went for home. Great race all the same, Montjeu was some horse on his day!!

  • he won because he had mick kinane in the saddle the greatest jockey ireland ever produced

  • I too think it was Montjeu's best performance but i don't think he won with "ease". Impressive though it may be.

  • I actually think this was Montjeu's finest ever performance. The ground was very soft this day and the Japanese horse had opened up a large advantage. The excelleration that Montjeu showed to catch El Condor Pasa and pass him was exceptional.

  • i don't think is a easy win anyway, but excellent for both horse

  • Depends on what you mean by "ease".
