through my darling daughter I learned the love for ponies and horses! I've loved john and his music for more then three decades. it comes together1 ONE WAY OR THE OTHER! he is still and for ever will be with us!!
Unfortunately its not all peaches and cream for horses today namely the wild horses that roam free on whatever open range that remains thats not fenced in. In the state of Nevada where I live the federal government by way of the BLM, the Breau of Land Management uses helicopters to round up the wild horses. They stay corralled never again to be free the luck ones get sold to ranchers & horse lovers the unluckly ones, well. Please leave room in your prayers for horses & all 4 leged creatures
A lovely video set to a lovely John Denver song! Thank-you! What a voice John Denver had! I have loved him & his music for most of my life now, and am very proud to be a longtime fan of his! What a legend! His music lives on! Thanks again! :)
As many of you, I discovered this song recently when I was listening to John Denver's discography. Like you, it caught my ear right away by it's simplicity, wonderful story (lyrics), and beautiful instrumental. This one is going right next to the other dozens of fantastic songs that John made for us. :)
I've never heard this song before. What a surprising find. It's so beautiful. When did he sing this??? Thank you so much for posting. The video is outstanding with this song. Extremely touching and well done:)
I found this on a John Denver Cassette one night around 4 AM, at a little Truck Stop type place, I removed the Vocals & made me a Karoke Cassete from it, It`s now one of my Favorite John Denver Songs, It wasn`t heard that much, John left us way to soon, he was a Gift to the World while he was here
Makes me want to go out and ride! I've never heard this song b4, but thought it was great. Were the ponies around 1:20 Chincoteague ponies? The background and ponies looked right for that. They're the only wild ponies I've ever gotten to see.
what a beautiful song and video. I had this on in the background while I was websurfing, but the music was so moving, I stopped just to listen. I haven't heard the voice of God in music like this in a long time. Thank you for sharing this treasure.
Thank you for your kind comment. I am happy that this video is being enjoyed. And yes I do agree that Steve Irwin does look a lot like John Denver. I greatly admired both of them. Thank you
That was awesome...you got a picture of monty Roberts, another one of my personal heros! Thank-you so much for putting this together. It is so amazing how people with a gentless like this seem to just fit together---Steve Irwin also looks a lot like John Denver!
I was thinking that too - Monty Roberts, yes, another hero/teacher. And yes, I agree Steve and John look very much alike in some pictures...Steve was another heartbreaking loss.
Michael Martin Murphy did a cover of this song that is really good. It is on his album "The Horse Legends". If you like this one, you'll also like "The Pony Man". Michael Martin Murphy is probably the country singer that you are thinking of. I don't know of any other country versions.
Each time I watch this, it's like the first time. It's an incredibly beautiful video that was meant to go with JD's song..Thank you again, mistikay, for posting this for us all to enjoy!!
Sometimes I think that John Denver could sing the phone book - and it would sound great!! I mean really, is that a voice or what?!?!?!?!? Simply AMAZING!! Were we brothers or did he just know so much about my soul?!?!?
Every time I look at the photos of the horses and ponies in this video, I realize how truly beautiful they are...and wonder how people can be SO uncaring, AND mean to animals...such incredible beauty for all to enjoy from the MASTER above...and some people don't appreciate these creatures.....
He had a way of touching many people deeply, as if he KNEW what people felt; and his music touched people in ways he never could imagine. Sometimes people come into your life in sn unexpected way and touch it deeply, and that will always remain with you.....
No bad for a guy that admitted that has could not communicate with his wife (Annie) - but he could communicate with millions through his songs!! I'm not sure if it is the words -- or the beautiful music -- but I like them both -- a lot!!
I always loved this song. I recently was fortunate enough to see some beautiful ponies in a meadow near John's Windstar land and played this song on my car CD player.this is a beautiful video and certainly shows the beauty of some of the "children of the universe".......
It truly was..especially since it was in a beautiful meadow within a mile of the snow covered Rockies that overlook the Land Conservency and John's statue...and it was on a road he drove all the time.
I WANTED to..but had to move on to California..I had been in Colorado a few days already and once I had spent time in Aspen and spent time in JD's Sanctuary and had been to Windstar and seen his statue and walked the property it was time to move on...but the horses were SO beautiful and when I pulled up to the corral and "talked" to them they kept looking at me and one did that whinny noise...just like he KNEW what I was thinking!!!!
I have never been to the sanctuary, nor to Windstarr. But my heart is yearning to go. The last time I was in Colorado was a ski trip to Durrango in 1979. If you view my slide show "Welcome To My Morning" there are about four pictures that I took of that ski trip. The pictures of New Mexico is a boarding school that I atended from 1978 tO 1980.
thanks..I'll take a look. You think you have seen nature at its best until you see the snow capped peaks of the Rockies..as JD used to say, everyone else hink they had mountains but they were only HILLS compared to the Rockies....a sight you never forget..and being in his Snactuary and at windstar easily makes you understand his great deep love for nature and the mountains...everywhere you look, it's obvious what he saw....
I agree with you, even John said in the nature programs that he has edited that there is no place on earth more beautiful than the Colorado Rockies. I do know how much that he loved nature. There will never be another like him. After God made John Denver he threw away the mold. We had to love him while he was still with us, well I guess we still love him. And always will. He will always be alive in our hearts and in the very glimps of nature.
Thank you mistikay. You did a wonderful job with this wonderful song. I'm sure he would have loved it.
