  • Religion came about as a way for primitives to explain the mysteries of the world around them. Through scientific discovery we are now able to find more logical explanations for these things. We don't need to hang onto beliefs that it's all magical bullshit anymore.

  • oh boy, people have said the end of religion is near but the shit never goes away. Once you poison the mind of certain individuals, they make it their duty that EVERYONE has to know their shit.

  • Great host...

  • Bless. Pretty funny saying it's in it's death throes when the Catholic Church alone in the past 60 years has grown by 500 million members.

    A. C. Failing

  • @Ohyewildthong: Gross numbers are meaningless. In % terms, religion is indeed on the back foot.

  • @GreenDistantStar A nice assertion, but one you provide with no evidence.

  • @Ohyewildthong Numbers of believers is the only validity religions have. It's a case of "Eat shit, a thousand billion flies can't be wrong."

  • @RATIONALMIND001 Sigh, I'm not making the argument that religion is correct because so many people follow it, only a moron would argue, or believe that I was arguing, that. However, Professor Grayling is trying to claim that religion is dying. How can that be true when the number of believers has increased significantly over the last half century?

  • @Ohyewildthong I can't disagree with you. I am not sure what the numbers are. In America there are a lot of people who won't actually admit to being a non-believer because of the social repercussions. I think it is wonderful that people are at least openly discussing the issue. September 11th was a HUGE turning point and such an example of brainwashing and the elevation of a cause above humanity, empathy and rational thought. It has made a lot of people think and resulted in a number of debates.

  • @Ohyewildthong of how many like me who were born into it and have since been convinced of the error of those and any religions ways?

  • It looks like Ben Franklin and Stephen King morphed into a singular entity to reek havoc on religion and mortals everywhere.

  • Does anyone know of a link for Grayling on Cobert's show?

  • @CheekyVimto08 for someone in the UK?

  • society your crazy breed i hope your not lonely without me.

  • You cant kill religion, but religion can kill YOU!

  • Garabandal prophecies are coming. Get ready before it´s too late.

  • OF FUCK OFF POPUS CUNT

  • OMG

  • I loved how she said "a presidential candidate would be elected there if HE was an atheist"

    such a fail.

  • Crank it up to 11! I can't hear it!

  • Outstanding questions and clearly, some deep, scholarly responses

  • I just read the wikipedia article on Norway, and there it says there are only 2 percent regular churchgoers now! And I just heard that Norway is on 3rd place on the list of "happiest countries in the world"..and they're already on first place on the UN's list of "best countries to live in", the HDI index or something. So it looks like people are doing very well indeed without "God" or "Jeebus".: )

  • @3rosesred We are always connected. We are always a part of the Whole, and the whole is everywhere you look. You should look at quantum physics. Look at these YouTube videos: "Quantum Universe", "The Universe is an Illusion, But Consciousness Isn't", and "Where Science and Buddhism Meet PART 1". The world is an illusion as expressed by its division and materiality. There is only one reality, that truly exists and is more real than anything, and that is the whole or God or Cosmic if you will.

  • It's so funny to me, Grayling is the Cesar Milan to the pitbulls like Hitchens and Dawkins. He is so calming.

  • If you dont believe there is a God.... You better be right!

  • @kit14kat14 I believe in fossils.

  • @IamYou86 you mean disputable fossils right?

  • @matrixlone LOL what is disputable about fossils? Have you ever been to the Natural History Museum?

  • @IamYou86 lol your biased nuff said

  • lol, amused me somewhat when quite pretty interviewer considering if there is only one life jumped immediately to 'then it should be prolonged as long as possible'; and apparently completely missing any point about quality of life. XD

  • @3rosesred We are like fishes in a sea that don't see the water and don't know it is there. The sea is totally, Oneness or the cosmic or God if you will. We are like fishes because we cannot comprehend the existence of the One. We see omly division in the material objective world. Religion is a guide to help man acknowledge that Oneness. Mysticism is the direct route where you learn to experience the One and know (not believe or have faith) that the One exists by a direct experience.

  • @111RobinHood Religion is the stake that is forcing devision and preventing us from finding this "Oneness" that you speak of.

  • @newo82 Well, yes, I agree with you. Because religion creates division by emphasizing on its dogmas and doctrines, and interpreting things literally. Words, concepts texts, scriptures are meant to be signposts to experiencing the real thing. Religion teaches you that obedience to the signposts are important and held up as truth, but mysticism, spirituality, etc claim that it's the experience of the whole or the Matrix that should be the goal. Words are impediments. Experience is necessary.

  • Actually Grayling talks rubbish. You have to define the word religion. In the broader sense it means devotion to something which could even be apllied to drugs. If you are hooked on drugs then drug is god to you. There will always be death to the old religion and birth to the new. Othodox religions are dying because spiritual concepts are changing. There is a great difference between being religious and being spiritual. I believe in God but not in the orthodox or traditional Chrisitianity!

  • @111RobinHood For all intensive purposes, religion in this context is devotion to the supernatural. For example a believer in a deity that does not interact is a deist, a group of theist that believes in the laws of physics, doesn't pick and choose people to help, just set the laws in motion and let it be, etc. Believing in a God holds no water over believing in multiple gods, nor does it add anything to the natural universe to think it had to be made, just like god had to be made. had to do it

  • Check out the following video entitled: Fé Ciência Glauben Wissenschaft Faith Science Esmeralda Campelo Antônio Peters. With enlightening arguments and facts, speaks Pastor Antonio Peters in an interview about his book entitled “Alpha and Omega“ (English subtitels)

“The book Alpha and Omega is not based on science to explain the Bible, it is based on the Bible and uses science as a keyhole to say: "Look, the Bible already tells us this and goes even further! (Pastor Antônio, 2010)"

  • AC Grayling and Christopher Hitchens - two great minds of our time.

  • If religions are growing, it's only because theists tend to be more reckless about reproduction and because they pressure their children to conform to their religion. Actual conversion numbers are fading fast. For what it's worth, I personally don't know any adult theists who were not pressured into theistic conformity as children in some way or another. Regardless of whether you believe in a creator, once you know the scientific facts, there's little room for true religious conversion.

  • There are far fewer religions today than in the past and those that are left are becoming increasingly irrelevant.

  • every each & other day i do a good deed and try to speed up that process of decline

  • Religion: The most annoying hobby in the world!

  • @WhiteLakeDan LOL!!

  • The fool has said in his heart, 'there is no god', but the wise one has said it in his mind, using his reason and intellect.

  • The 'god' of the Abrahamic faiths is supposedly all-powerful etc, so the following MUST be true.

1 'God' could not 'need' to create anything, including humans. 'He' therefore chose to do so.

2 According to the rules he chose to set up concerning belief being the only way to avoid eternal punishment, he MUST have known that millions/billions of humans would either not believe in 'him', honestly, or by culture, indocrination or error believe in the 'wrong' god.

3 No moral being could so act.

  • " I don't need to be saved by some imaginary deity of yours,"

If He was imaginary then your life would be even more pointless. You are an old guy, like me We will be taking the Big Exit relatively soon. You will come to meet your maker and judgement whether you believe in Him or not. Your life has been recorded, all of it. You cannot erase or ignore your sins. You like all of us are guilty and deserve hell, Jesus has made a way to save us, but you WILL go to hell if you insist. in rebellion.

  • @yeshua4U - then again you could be COMPLETELY wrong due to NOT having been born in India and indoctrinated by Hindu parents and society.

WHAT IF THE HINDUS ARE RIGHT and Mr. Christ doesn't play a role in your birth, life or death?

What are YOU going to say to Vishnu, Siva and Ganesh when they ask you why you did not believe and worship them as true gods?

Doesn't it frighten you that you could be reincarnated as a worm or toad if you don't believe in this?

    Pascal's Wager 101

  • @freakystyley4000 I worship the God I know. THE ALL POWERFUL, CREATOR, JUDGE , and AUTHOR OF LIFE.You assume that all "religions are equal. Hindus have more than 300 "gods" Which one is the real god?

YHWH says there's no other gods

You operate under the false assumption that YHWH must save all to be fair.

In justice ALL MANKIND IS GOING TO HELL.because of original sin. IF He offers rescue to all through His Son and most refuse and only a few are saved.

Can He be blamed for saving a few.?

  • @yeshua4U - *sigh* as usual, leave it to an Atheist to educate the deluded on their own delusions...

Your celestial sky daddy EXPLICITLY said "You shall have no other gods before me"... hmmm, sounds like Mr. Yahweh is admitting in a positive sense that he is not the only one up there...

And he is not ALL POWERFUL. If he were he would have had the foresight NOT to have created Lucifer.

Why am I even arguing this with you? We all know Wotan is the real and true god.

    PROVE ME WRONG

  • @freakystyley4000 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek [after God]: God [is] not in all his thoughts.

Psa 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God. Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse

He calls stupid, rebellious disgusting enemies and offer them adoption as sons.....and I am glad

  • @yeshua4U "You will come to meet your maker and judgement whether you believe in Him or not." Your evidence? Zzz. :)

  • @MzHellinahandbasket

You're probably not a big fan ot the Word of God but.....I am..

Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse .our sense of justice, conciences and our thirst for meaning and beauty

but if you also add hundreds of personal testimonies here on Youtube of NDEs or heaven and hell.

as a place for you to start

  • @yeshua4U Please watch [ Why do people laugh at creationists? (part 29) ]. I apologize if you find the tone offensive. Take in the points and you'll have part of your answer. Please go to near-deathDOTcom or google near death experiences and go to the first sight that shows up. There you'll find many NDE's that conflict with existing religions. It's hard to trust people who always claim they used to be "just like me", yet they never understand why I don't believe them...

  • @yeshua4U why come on here in support of fairytales, i would have thought youd have enough belief in your imaginary god than to spout nonsense. is there doubt there?, mmm. feeling a wee bit insecure, knowing that thor or zues or who ever wont be here to sort out the freethinkers. funny how some sheep detest science, yet are the first to use science to make there points, hypocritical is the word that springs to mind. 20 000 religions, have you chose the right one? good mental health to you.

  • 1000's years more of religion? The thought makes me shiver with disgust and disappointment!

  • Religion is a Sin.

All religion is a process whereby men try to prove themselves worthy of Gods approval by their own behavior. They then set up the parameters that are able change at the whim of times to fit the morality of the majority. The only people that our King ever lost His temper with were the "religionists" Let the religionists do what the will.

Yeshua came preaching the KINGDOM OF GOD.

Let it be known that if you are not a citizen of the Kingdom of God then you are still lost.

  • @yeshua4U The only one lost here is you, still wishing an old storybook was true. If worshiping invisible imaginary men meant something we wouldn't need science. Yeshua would have given you a cell phone and computer, not to mention indoor plumbing. But that's just a fantasy, in reality we must do it all for ourselves. Think your God can destroy the world? We all know for certain that some leaders can with the push of a button. Reality's a bitch, I don't blame you for being scared.

  • @crossoldman

You were created for higher things...

Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

:37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

  • @yeshua4U All the Holy Babble quotes in the world won't feed a hungry child or heal a sick person. While works of fiction can indeed be inspiring they are not to be confused with truth and reality. There is no higher purpose than advancing the well being of all people. That is something that religion has always failed to do and science is very good at. I have to wonder why you seem to be wishing for destruction with your quotes, I'll take it as a sign of just how mentally lost you are.

  • @crossoldman You seem obsessed with avoiding the recognition of the human heart. The history of man is that science has produced the ability to feed every mouth on the planet but that the wicked selfish heart of man prefers to plow a crop under rather than send it to where the multitude of people whom you seem to care so much about are dying of starvation. Why are you not raging against a gov't that pays the farmer more to destroy his crop than it costs to send it to the starving. You hypocrite

  • @yeshua4U I see, so apparently my statements like " There is no higher purpose than advancing the well being of all people" Indicate that I'm "avoiding the recognition of the human heart" I might just remind you that here in the US those greedy bastards that take money from the Gov't rather than raise the extra food and give it away to the starving are Christians. What good does your religion or your God do? None. Why? Because it's all about the money . Who invented the system? Christians.

  • @crossoldman And I would like to repeat that the Christian "religion" may be the biggest single enemy of the Christ and His kingdom. I am really sorry for you if you think that "advancing the well being of all people" is the highest purpose for mankind. Being an anti-theist, this would make you an accident of chaotic evolution who wishes to promote and aid the rest of the pointless race who don't give a rats *ss about you and are only interested in THEIR OWN PERSONAL GAIN.

    Pointless, pathetic

  • @yeshua4U If you think evolution is chaotic it's only because you are uneducated on the subject. If Christians are the single biggest enemy of Christ who's left to support Him? Just you? I'm truly sorry you think that our species is pointless, it's no wonder you take such satisfaction from waiting for it's destruction. I can certainly see that from your perspective advancing humanity would be a low priority but for those of us who are not mired down in fantasy it's pretty damned important.

  • @crossoldman "Pretty damned important" that is ironic.

What if "faith in Jesus Christ" was the next link in the evolutionary chain. and the key to survival of the human race in a new demension ?

I continue this seeming pointless conversation because there is a chance that you could be saved from the just punishment for your sin and recieve eternal life. What is in it for you?

  • @yeshua4U "What if "faith in Jesus Christ" was the next link in the evolutionary chain. and the key to survival of the human race in a new demension ?" That's almost as silly as popping back up from the dead to make a nice fish fry for your buddies and still calling it a sacrifice. I don't need to be saved by some imaginary deity of yours, you need to wake up to reality before you waste your entire life kowtowing to invisible people in your head. I want to help humanity, including you.

  • @crossoldman - is is through criticism of the church and religion in general (aka heresy) during the Dark Ages that finally brought us into enlightenment.

Faith in God/s (and because I am biased, especially the belief in the BRUTAL AND JEALOUS IRON AGE TRIBAL JEWISH DESERT GOD) is neglible to our species advancement.

  • Religion will inevitably die because so many of it's ideas are untrue. Over time humankind tends towards truth... science seeks out truth whereas religion tries to hold on to outdated views.

  • @mikeyo1234

Excellent observation. Succinctly put and I think quite true.

  • I love AC Gayling. Fantastic mind.

If only his sentiments here were true.

  • Dude is delusional if he thinks religion is going away.

  • @1noen1

We don't all live in the United States of Jesusland. In fact, 6.2 billion of us don't.

  • I tend to agree with the professor. Atheism, agnosticism, and secularism are on the rise. Major religions are on the decline. It is just not necessary anymore. It is done.

  • good god! Intelligent questions from a TV presenter? And an Aussie one too! (only kidding) Whatever next?

  • I live in Norway in Scandinavia, and up here almost nobdy are believing christians anymore. Most people are atheists or freethinkers, and our prime minister and most members of his government are also atheists.(His name is Jens Stoltenberg by the way, if anybody wants to google) I guess it will take quite some time yet before an outspoken atheist can become president in America, but it will come eventually. Cheers! : )

  • @winterstellar yeah - "Land of The Free", my arse

  • @winterstellar Indeed it'll be quite a long time. Many Americans still can't accept that their current President is a Black man, hence you have many ( a minority but a strong minority) of Americans that believe Obama was not born in America but was born in Kenya, and others believe that he's a Muslim.

  • @winterstellar I've always thought Scandinavians are far more rational and sensible.

  • @winterstellar Sounds like heaven. :)

  • @winterstellar. I think I may immigrate to Norway. My home The Netherlands is being overrun with religious crazies.

  • @winterstellar I live in Norway too and I can tell you,you are far from the truth. There is a huge Christian population here. And every year there are growing numbers. Norway is far from secular. And there is every year more and more influence from the right wing Christian politicians upon the Government and its rules. Kjell Magne Bondevik the former Prime Minister is a Lutheran Minister. Have you ever viewed NRK on a Sunday morning? Nothing but religious ceremonies...

  • @winterstellar Whilst Norway enjoys an Oil enriched economy, it labours under one of the most strictest authoritarian Governmental systems in Europe. Partly due to the influence of the huge conservative religious population..... The given belief is that they don't wish the population toi drink or enjoy themselves. Hence the price of alcohol and tobacco. Every year, discussions about putting the closing time of clubs and pubs back to a ridiculous hour comes up...

  • @philster611 What, have you been reading "Conservapedia" or something? The christian party in Norway has about 3 percent in the polls/ratings now. It has always been the social democrats, the unions and the socialists who have been worried about opening hours or whatever. They're in government now by the way, and they have eased up on that "authoritarian" stuff. They'd have to anyway, cause even though we're not in the European Union, we are obliged to follow much of their rules/regulations.

  • @winterstellar Norway is in the "EEA", and that's almost like being in the EU in some ways.

  • @winterstellar I think the nightclubs or discotheques or whatever close at 2 or 3 in the morning, by the way. I don't drink, so I never go there, but I have been there some times in the past.

  • @winterstellar No I have not read Conservapedia. Although I might. No, I read independent reports. And since I live in Norway, I also get to observe...I suggest you take a tour around the churches around Norway...Most sundays, they are full. According to wiki.. the Christian party has around 6.8% not 3 of the voter support. A lot of it is in the very religious south west... But that is unimportant. Norway is far from being as secular as you say....

  • @philster611 Okay. It says in the wiki article on Norway that there's just 2 percent regular church-goers now. True, I've never been in a church myself. But I usually trust wiki.:)

  • @winterstellar You're right in saying it will be awhile before there is an atheist president of America. I'm an agnostic/atheist American and I can tell you first hand that this is true. The idea of separation of church and state in my country is a thin veil. Republicans have one of the loudest voices in the country and a very large majority of them are staunch Christians. Anyone who thinks mildly different are chastised via any means necessary. One day maybe, not in my lifetime (I'm only 24).

  • @winterstellar

My ancestors came to America largely from Scandinavia, and every time I hear about it, I wish they hadn't. Even if I'm a few generations removed, I swear I'm still Scandinavian at heart.

  • @winterstellar

Ah, so refreshing. But if im not wrong, you have a growing islamic community? I dont hate all muslims, but I do hate islam. Hope your PM can oust them from invading your country. Im sad our PM (canada's) is a christian fundie.

  • @winterstellar So jealous!

  • @winterstellar Have you seen the latest Republican candidates for 2012? Bachmann, Romney and Perry - total "religious alcoholics". Scary I think!

  • @RATIONALMIND001 I hope they're nominated, because I'm pretty sure they'll lose and that Obama would go on for another four years. In Europe republicans are pretty loathed and democrats the preferred candidates. Clinton was very popular in Europe and Obama is even more popular, and I cheer for him too!: )

  • Politicians only say or do something, if it gives them a better chance to stay in office or to get elected. If Atheism becomes the majority, or more then 25%, many politicians, will be honest in the fact of what they believe in God(s), and miraculously, they will become Atheist, even though, many already are. The Religious might go on a panic, and if they get big enough, then the politicians will become religious again, because its all about getting votes, using any method possible.

  • He taught me the logic segment of my Politics, Philosophy & History BA at Birkbeck College. Quite an individual and an exemplary human being.

  • grayling is a player. Articulate, interesting and of course a beautiful head of hair

  • I think A.C. Slater is much cooler than A.C. Grayling.

  • The concept of God is a proposterous, mind-shrinking falsehood. It teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world we live in. If the religiously-minded got their own way they would scrap all future scientific endeavour and dismantle such things as the Hubble Telescope because it undermines their very position. In short, science makes a mockery of their existence.

  • It seems unlikely that a professed atheist will be elected president in my lifetime.

Then again, my parents didn't think a black man would be elected president in their lifetimes. We've been pleasantly surprised before.

  • America + Australia = disgrace toward democracy

  • I have a couple books and collected essays by professor AC Graylin...

I like his writings on philosophy.

  • If anyone's interested, I've written a blog post about this very subject here: perplexicon [dot] net [slash]2010 [slash]01 [slash]the-likelihood-of-a-post-religious-world

  • My prediction is that it will be another 3000 to 4000 years before religions cease to exist. We havent even reached the peak of religous existance yet, and this man is talking about religion in its death throes! What a joke.

  • Thank you for your prediction oh wise one! We've waited long to hear your words of wisdom based on evidence and reason! It would have to be based on that, otherwise saying "What a joke" would be baseless and condescending. But oh no, you are the wise one; so I'm sure your prediction is well reasoned.

  • Belief in an all-knowing, all-powerful supreme cosmic dictator who created the universe is not only very childish and illogical, it's simply ridiculous and highly embarrassing for any serious adult to admit.

The clear cognitive dissonance displayed by followers of organised religion is currently the world's most pressing mental health challenge.

For those ready to seek help, the book "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins may be a good place to start.

  • Religion is NOT going away any time soon. This argument was made over 100 years ago by Colonel Robert Ingersoll, who was the most influential orator of America's early 20th century (and a personal hero). Religion can only disappear if zealots - who perpetuate it - disappear.

  • I LOVE watching religious nuts squirm when you ask them questions about their faith lol

  • religion may die and i hope it does, but the stupid peadophile priests will NEVER stop abusing children in the name of god

  • @SuperWorldwide23

He does not advocate eliminating religion. He claims that religion is declining in popularity, and that decline will greatly reduce its influence in politics and society as a whole.

Neither does he that this lessened influence will bring peace on Earth. He said that conflicts caused by religion will be greatly diminished. So unless you are saying that all conflicts are caused by religion (which he is not), how could the decline of religion end all conflict?

  • You're making a false analogy. In the Soviet Union, religion was forcefully removed because it interfered with the worship the dictator/human-god, Stalin. Nobody is even alluding to this kind of breach of human rights.

I don't believe in a god and, like the founding fathers, would like to see it removed from government. Private worship is a completely different thing. Point me to a single atheist who said that they want to forbid people from believing in god.

  • Hitler!

  • I'm a Texan and an Atheist, I can't wait to get rid of all the holy rolling bible beaters around here!

  • @jdetuncq How are you digging the textbook reforms going on down there?

  • Hahahahah... religion's death rattle - totally good fuckin bye...

  • yeah, if we let the religious nuts of the american south do as they please, they will hasten the death of religion by 100 or more years. it's becoming a crazy man's belief, nothing of which christ would condone.

  • source please

  • Search in youtube: "Muslim Demographics"

  • It's about quality not quantity.

Most of their increase is due to explosive demographic growth like rabbits fueled by Western medicine and technology. Their countries suffer continued poverty and lack of development and so further ignorance and fundamentalism. Congratulations.

  • Really, that may be so in the middle east... surprise, surprise.

Dont forget that right up until the last few centuries christians and muslims murdered humanists as witches and heathens.

Thousands of years of oppression led to atheists and humanists to being less than 0.01% of any population.

And now in countries like Australia it's 30% and higher in countries like demark and Holland.

Even America has over 10% atheists.

  • "until the last few centuries christians and muslims murdered humanists as witches and heathens."

That statement looks more like a corn flakes slogan than a serous history research.

    Stop reading Dan Brown´s shit!

    Read real history books!!!

  • lmao

So the million of south americans killed by the spanish catholic conquistadors never happen...

Take your hand off you dick boy...

  • Trickroad - also islam and christianity were both clearly spread by the sword... if you actually read anything but your comic books

people were bullied into believing and still are... especially children

its high time that those who believe in childish fairy tails be seen as the morons they truly are.

    muslims - doubly so...

  • Words, words, just words.

The world is becoming muslim. It´s a fact. It´s real. It´s defeating your words and your good wishes.

    Your grandchildren will praise Allah.

  • allah and god are piss-weak excuses for weak minded fools - a joke...

    and YOU are the punchline.

go grovel on the ground to your imaginary friend you fag...

and that's the best you can come up with??

How about this - sand and nuclear fusion = glass.

the middle east will sparkle and shimmer from space

  • DAMN!!!!!!!! i knew i should've watched lateline that night!!

  • its always up and down. depending on the times. but i do think we are witnessing a shift these days, and people are moving away from 'organized religious faith' more then 'faith'

  • @babystinky

I think the internet plays a big part by adding momentum to the usual down part. Exposure to other beliefs and ways of think tends to do that.

  • dam austrailia has these specials and the UK, where the fuckin is ours in the USA????

  • This was on a late night program on public tv, so they go into interviews in a bit more detail.

  • i cant believe that our country has gotten so far behind enlightenment. all because fucking religion. if they had an atheist/theist debate Fox News would be all over it calling us the antiChrist or Christian haters, .... u know.

  • funny thing is.... as atheist we dont believe in an antichrist! lol

  • We are too afraid to question people's faith and religion in the mass media.

  • Political correctness will kill us all.

  • I agree. Things should seriously be questioned when there is no evidence for it

  • Fuck Religion.

XVX for life, R.A.S.H. 'til death.

  • I think hate is rarely if ever the way to go. I clicked "Not Spam" on your post, btw. It had been marked spam. I do hope religion goes away though... it's negatively affected my life significantly numerous times. Never horribly though, just gotten in the way of (and ultimately ruined) relationships, scared me as a small child, wasted my time, etc.

  • this exactly.

  • ohmygod! it's ben franklin XD lol

  • Religion is poison. It maims and kills everything it touches.

  • Well if Islams goal is convert everyone to islam (as many imams say), I think it will be much harder to convert Atheists than to convert christians.

Many religous ppl seem to always think that an atheist is easy to convert. This is false. We welcom conversation, but while they try to convert us, we try to convert them :)

  • @jfko6

It is not up to the unbeliever to disprove gods, the burden of proof lies on those who claim the existence of said gods. What makes you think matter can be created at all? You think because we can't explain everything, god did it? It's this kind of argument from ignorance which reinforces my belief that not having an answer is better than having a wrong answer. Why do you think there were sun gods? People had no understanding of the sun or planetary systems and therefor accepted unfounded

  • Thanks for your reply. You: "What makes you think matter can be created at all?" Since you exist - why is there something rather than nothing? When a child is born matter is created through conception. Bones, Blood Skin, Hair, Nails,Teeth et cetera. Why then do you deny the existence of God? Is it the way you live? Does God interfere with your lifestyle?

  • "a child is born matter is created through conception"

complete BS. Matter is not created during conception. Don't they have science classes at your school?

  • I completely disagree. Blood is matter and is created through the growth of the fetus. It did not exist before but was formed. Skin is also matter i.e. formed.

  • Of course you disagree. That's because you clearly don't have a science education.

A cake doesn't exist before it was made and a cake is matter. That doesn't mean you created matter to create a cake. All you do is mix existing increadients and add energy in the form of heat.

    Go get a proper education.

  • We are not talking about "cakes!" But about human life and Creation. Your example does not jive with the commentary in this video. But along the lines of your analogy - where did the energy come from to form ANY Matter? In any event we are talking about Social Justice, Morality, Evil, War, Abortion, Euthanasia and Jesus Christ the center of Christianity for which Catholicism does not object to Science and its proper use for the benefit of mankind.

  • Someone skipped fourth grade science class. Matter is not created during the development of a child/fetus. Matter and energy cannot be created/destroyed. All the matter in your body existed before you were born and will continue to exist after you die.

  • What you are trying to say is that all weight remains the same. Really -- Big Deal. The only thing that will exist after we die and the world ends is our Soul. It is not important if you believe that or not. That does not concern me. This is a not a science topic but is Theological Science which you are trying avoid with some 4th grade science teaching. God knew us before we were born before the creation of the world we all had a name. You skipped and avoided the major religious tenet: Abortion.

  • @jfko6 "Theological science" a contradiciton in terms if ever I saw one!
