I don't get it. How could this cost 5000-10000 dollars even 3 years ago? It just needs some kind of big touch panel or something and big tv screen ..and well pc. O_o
I'd like to have every wall and roof filled with these screens, being synced together so you could access your files from everywhere. Also you could change your wallpaper just as easy as you do it on your computer. And also watch HD movies on my roof or wall ;)
The 2010's will be all about new ways to interact with technology. How about a wireless "smart" gun using that tech for gaming. Touch the digital displays to make it reload, fire, or send a command to teammates. The game could detect where the gun is allowing you to duck, shimmy, and strafe without leaving your seat. It will be fun and you'll laugh at the archaic mouse and keyboard setup that lacks tactile feedback and motion sensors. That's just one possibility.
How about a traditional style stand up monitor coupled with a touch sensitive digital desk. You don't need the keyboard, the desk creates a digital one when you need to type. The video could be displayed on either one, and moved at your whim. Or screw the monitor and just have it display on your digital wallpaper. Things will change but will stay the same...couch and chair potatoes aren't going anywhere so the tech just has to accommodate that ;)
The PC keyboards that are physical and make a bit of noise when pressed down are the best kind. i'd hate to lose that and have to tap on my table, if you know what i mean.
Games are as old as civilization, and they only get better. We'll find new ways to play and interact that will make the mouse/keyboard seem like some sort of stone age tool. Your kids will laugh at you and your "amazing" clicky devices while they're playing with interactive, tactile, digital strippers. Remember that at one time Pong was a technological marvel and people thought early cameras were stealing their soul...hard core gamers will demand fun, and it will be provided don't worry.
don't worry about the cost - they will make it readily avilable this next generation - just because it will virtualize everything and you privacy too.
Microsoft did not invent this stuff, but it seems that they're trying to take credit for it. If you're into it, you can build your own table like that. It runs on freeware Linux software, which is what Microsoft and Apple are imitating.
hope it works with games ;)

I can't see people turning down the mouse so fast...most people have been using it for at least a decade and the change will take some time.
As for hard core gamers there's no fucking was that's going to happen any time soon

Actually that would be holographic screen and controls which is still not available
The best so far ( unclassified that is ) is a holographic projection inside some sort of glass or cristal object
