  • real men

  • heh had to look this game up, it's playing on NHL Canada's Vintage Games right now. Looking forward to seeing this play out in real time!

  • The referee was really stupid throwing out Fleming at that time. Of course the Leafs were going to attack him. Ref caused this brawl. Just because the NHL started in Canada doesn't mean Canadians are the only ones that know hockey. The Boston Bruins have been in the league since 1924 so we dumb Bostonians have a history in the game too. Fighting was just an added dimension to the game. They've watered hockey down too too much. Let'm play!!!

  • A $20 fine per player??? LOL!

By the way, besides airing on Canada's CBC, I suspect the game also was broadcast back to Chicago (WGN-TV??).

  • Hockey was so much better before the 1967 expansion. Only six teams in the league, you got to know every player on every team, even the minor leagues.

  • @xltrt -How true! I can't keep up with trades and off-season moves anymore. I stopped playing fantasy league because I was just too tired of indulging every waking moment keeping up with the daily injury reports and so forth. The only time I really get to know players from other teams is during playoffs when they are the opponent.

  • I love watching the old time hockey.......brawls and all.......this is just so cool!

  • dumb fucking americans don't understand hockey. it actually features skill not head banging...we're better off without any fights...all the good players are concussed

  • my geez the leafs had so much heart then!!!! imagine shanck causing grief though eh LOL> thanks for posting!

  • my geez the leafs had so much heart then!!!! imagine shanck causing grief though eh LOL>

  • Hockey is what football is today, "DONT HURT ME LEAGUE". 6 teams back then, every game was exciting. Now in football you cant even blow on the quarterback,15 yards. A total joke.

  • notice the fans all wearin suits lol

  • This was a crazy brawl not only because of how long the fighting lasted but because of what one crazy photographer did during the brawl! Kudos to you, mike8219 for giving us the 411 on this brawl. I'm counting down the Top 5 NHL Brawls of all time and I put this at #3.

  • That was when Hockey was a great sport.

  • Ah Yes! Old-time Hockey at its finest...J wish hockey was still like this....

  • Funny seeing a camera man right on the ice taking pics.

  • who's the idiot that left the door open..lol!!!!

  • This is how hockey should be played. Good old fashioned brouhaha.

  • Fleming - SUPER!!!

  • I remember that one as a 13 year old watching the game on TV. seems like yesterday, where has time gone?? God bless Fleming, Brewer, Horton,Murray Balfour(I think) who have since passed on.

  • Oh CANADA! GO CANADA!!!

  • CANADA RULES!!!!

  • the fight was great, the song made me puke and my ears were bleeding from that musical mess

  • What a SLIME. What a PIECE OF GARBAGE Fleming was....

  • Amen, Sunset, he WAS a SCUMBAG. Considering his size, there was no excuse for his dirty tactics. That's just the asshole he was. The leafs were clearly read to lynch him for his despicable high stick to Shack.

  • Reggie flemming is the best fighter I know

  • 6:31 -6:34 hahaha

  • lol $ 20 fine

  • Even account inflation, and that is still a joke X-D

  • 6:11 There's a guy taking pictures

  • I'm trying to sell my Bobby Hull Jersey. Its excellent condition, and definitely a beautiful site to look at.

If you are interested , please message me.

  • my dads friend has a game worn blood stained bobby hull jersey

  • Thats cool, definitely a valuable collectible. My Jersey was given to me as a gift, and sadly, I'm not a hockey fan , so I want to sell it to someone who would respect it a lot more.

  • watch out for Elmer Moose Vasko 6'3" and 230 pounds!

  • MOOOOOOSE!

  • I remember this game. I was nine. Hockey Night in Canada and the games didn't come on until about the end of the first period back then. Everyone was talking about about this the next day. A twenty dollar fine doesn't sound like much but I'd bet a lot of those guys weren't making a hundred dollars a game in those days. Things have sure changed. Thanks for posting this.

  • ahahhahah...$20 fines

  • According to the inflation calculator, that's $134 now.

  • this is so old

  • Look at what the NHL is now. It has changed so much they should rename the league.

  • "Look at what the NHL is now. It has changed so much they should rename the league" How about the Don't Touch The Europeans Hockey League..

  • @PeteyRamone77 You are so right. Its almost unwatchable now.

  • Man, THIS is a hockey brawl. Not two semi-goons wrestling...

  • I'm not sure if I want to know how he visciously cheapshotted Shack. Did he dip his stick in oil or something? Or did you mean viciously? Either way, it was just awful since Shack was such an upfront, honest player who never did an illegal thing in his career. The signature action in Shack's career is here on utube, where he is running away from an entire team trying to get their hands on him.

  • oh yeah, and the entire St Louis Team against 1 guy is a really classy fair fight. You'd skate away too, chump. It's called picking your battles, genius.

  • ha ha ya the CHUMP . I bet he'd skate away fast!. Eddie didn't run ... He just wisely backed off.

  • my uncle is al macneil #19 for the blackhawks

  • Comment removed

  • "my uncle is al macneil #19 for the blackhawks" Cool, old-time defenceman with an edge.

Also a great coach, 11 winning clubs in 12 seasons.

  • Hey Petey your uncle Al was a great coach for sure . 1971 Stanley Cup Champion. The miracle season. Never got the credit he truly deserved

  • A few pointers to clarify this incident ... 1) FACT: Reg Fleming started the whole thing by visciously cheapshotting Eddie Shack with a high stick. Cheers to Baun for gunning down Fleming in the penalty box.

    2) When Murray Balfour rams Carl Brewer (who was already playing with a seperated shoulder) through the bench door - the guy in the crowd who comes down to attack Balfour is a Toronto Argos player who was a friend of the Brewer family.

    Blackhawks were so gutless...

  • @SunsetGroove ...gutless? The leafs were and are the most pathetic franchise in sports, they should just hang it up

  • @rjst09 fuck off

  • classic times man!
