From what I got she did not die and the episdoe does reveal that batgirl's death was just a nightmare. ( ALSO ) She shows up in batman beyond as the police chief- just like her father...

I agree also this animation back in the day was way cooler and better themed than most shows today... Damn look how far tv has come to rotting our brains- at least backthen shows had meanings and some other knowledge- but yea thats life..

For people who think she actually dies in this episode:

Batgirl doesn't seriously DIE, it's just a dream from when scarecrow made her pass out. So really, she's just getting owned by scarecrow. She doesn't die, and Gordon doesn't go at batman's throat. And, after she wakes up and all, she tries to tell Gordon about her being batgirl because of the dream, yadda yadda etc.

She wasn't really dead. It was just a dream she had after getting sprayed by scarecrow's fear gas. It forced her to see her deepest fear that Gordon will go crazy if she die on the line of duty as Batgirl without telling him about it first.

Frank Miller's doesn't SOUND THAT BAD, I've never read it in addition to others, and I mean - Its FRANK MOTHERTRUCKING MILLER - so it sounds like a guaranteed epic-sized cup of awesomesauce. Sin City, and other works I should be pointing out.

But Batman is just the one thing he didn't do right, judging from the background information I've read on him. He doesn't stay true to Batman, Batman isn't vulgar, he's collected. He isn't a mass murdering extremist, he's patient and tact and awesome.

This is Batman: The Animated Series, a superb show, however Im not sure how cannon this is (although the term cannon is losely applied to most comic book properties) as Gordons daughter becomes the Oracle after being shot by the Joker in the spine...

Although I haven't seen the whole episode so I dont really know.

Still highly reconmend this series however, my personal favourite cartoon.

I like the classics, Doug, Hey Arnold, All That(first seasons with kenan and kel), Shelby Woo, The Secret World of Alex Mac. Those kinds of things. What really happened was Scarecrow doused her with his fear toxin before Batman and Robin nabbed him. She just had a nightmare of her worst fear: Batman and Gordon at each others throats because she never told Gordon she was Batgirl. While the ending of the episode left it somewhat ambiguous, it was indicated that Gordon knew all along.

Yeah, they messed this part up in the show. In the comic, the Joker paralizes her by shooting her through the spine & she becomes Oracle & switches over to the Birds of Prey comic. There's also a new Batgirl, she has black hair & her face is completely covered.
