Danny, don't worries about comments from idiots. You did an awesome job with this song and anyone who has ever seen you live knows what an incredible performer you are. You have NEVER tried to be anyone but the amazing singer you are. All the positive comments on this song reflect that. Keep up the good work!
Great job...always reminds me of a gillnetter that sank at the dock in Lake Union..but by the time the drunk of an owner tried to raise her with a girdle, the cable cut her in twain. But it was the thought that counted, and it's better to try & fail than never try at all.
Great version Danny. The thing that your fans love about you is that you are unique, fun, and have a golden voice. You've never tried to copy anyone and those who have seen you love and respect what you do. You're awesome and it's only a matter of time until the whole world hears about you
Danny, this is a great song! You have a fantastic voice, and you put a lot of emotion into your music, and I think that's what makes you such a wonderful musician. Good luck to you! Slainte!
Hey, I'm far from home and having a day (a week, a month) that would make any one of Barett's privateers feel sorry for me. I walked into an internet cafe to check my mail, and had this urge to hear this song, and came across your clip. It really hit the spot. This song has been a source of strength for me many times in the past. Many thanks for performing and posting it.
Hi, I am not pretending to be Stan during my performance. I like so many others love to sing this song. Thank you Nathan, Stan's son for commenting. I have made my living as a musician for the last 30 years. I'd love to come back to Canada to sing. I played in B.C. with Tommy Makem a few years back.
I think I understand what you're saying here but try to remember that my dad (Stan) openly encouraged people to "change the chords to suit your tastes, change the melody....etc. just let me hear it so I can steal what you do if I like in the time-honoured tradition known as the 'folk process'. Be careful with people's feelings.........oh...by the way..who are you "pros"? Have we met?
A few years ago an friend passed this along. It came to her from a brother whe she was low. It's a source of strength and inspiration. I can never repay her. Sadly, she and I had a misuderstanding and falling out. The contacts broke. I've only started posting on YT - I'm no singer, less of a musician, but this will be one of my next subs. I hope she'll find it and realize how much she helped. Thank you so much for posting! It sparked bitterweet memories! theprisonersix

Forgive me, but who the hell is Danny Quinn? Much prefer Stan Rogers, since he wrote it and sings it with emotion.

When I was much younger, hearing this song--especially the last verse--got me through a really difficult time. Thanks for posting it.
