I can't find any longboard appliances (wheels, trucks, bearings,) cheap. Every where I look all three add up to be about $90. Anyone know a place where I can get cheaper gear? I used to make my own longboards/skateboards but the shop I got all my stuff from closed. when my bearings were new, the wheels turned for 2 whole minutes with a hand touch like yours.

i use Rush hybrid (steel and titanium ceramic spheres) and a sector nine nineballs wheels (red goddess one).

now i have been using same bearings for 1 year and 3 months, and the wheels still turn for more than a minute

so.. 40 seconds, thats nothing.

ABEC rating merely states with what precision they're made to. While an ABEC1 bearing may be manufactured with 0.0075 mm allowance, ABEC 9 bearings have a threshold of 0.0012 mm.

Either number is very small, and when you're thrashing your board around and throwing it around, any small precision gained from such manufacturing is very quickly.

There are tons of possibilities and types of longboarding to try. Downhill, race, slalom, cruise, dance, sliding, freestyle...etc. There are endless variations and things to do. In my preference i like freestyle, and sliding.. Downhill is fun becuase you can hit high speeds and it acts as a high for some riders, or at least my friends haha. Look stuff up before you go assuming things you have no knowledge under.

more specifically, abec actually measure durability. what they do is they put the bearing on a machines that spins them at hundreds of miles an hour and see how long it takes for them to break, abec has nothing to do with how fast or smoothly they roll that is determined by how they are made. just a random fact for all of you

Not so. ABEC rating is a standard used to rate the quality of the balls in the bearings. A ball with a higher ABEC rating will be smoother and more concentric than one with a lower rating.  They are made from the same material, so their strength, or durability, is the same.

Another thing about the "spin time" of bearings. Using a lower viscosity grease in the bearing will allow it to freewheel longer, but may not be ideal when there is a load on the bearing (riding the board), as the grease may push away from the bearing balls and cause metal to metal contact between the balls and rings (races) of the bearing. And no one I know enjoys metal to metal contact with their balls and rings. Be informed and make the right purchase for your ride!
