A $120 a week job for veterans young and old to patrol. Problem solved. It takes a community to stand up to tyrants. These are children, grown ass children. They should have the since enough to do right by others.
this is one of the poorer neighborhoods of SF and here you are not even from there Stanly. do you really think that a person working on their vehicle in the streets can afford to take it to the garage?
You look to put guns in the hands of people whose soul job deals with parking? I wonder aloud if you simultaneously support the disarming of citizens as San Francisco has literally done everything it can, and more, to deny law abiding citizens their right to bear arms. You so easily leap to guns for government, to shoot people over parking tickets, don't even mention pepper spray or tazers.
@halmp810 seriously, if the traffic officers can't do it because of assaults, then of course the police should step in. So what's the wait, and have those who have assaulted traffic officers been prosecuted?
@ustfu Problem is, one purpose of DPT officers is to free up police officers from having to handle this sort of traffic/Parking enforcement. If DPT was to arm their officers, it would require more training and thus more money, not to mention the increased liability. At that point you might as well just use police officers, which would make DPT pointless. Seems like a tough spot. I hope they can figure out a way to resume enforcement without their staff running the risk of serious harm.
@Bunker86 True. It will require more money to train them to use firearm. Consider it as an investment; you either 1. spend the money upfront to train them so DPT officers can write more tickets without fearing getting beat up or 2. let the illegal parking continues.
Wow, no wonder buying a house near 3rd street is so damn cheap. Because you would get robbed and beat up or even die if you step outside your house! Black gangs everywhere at night and even in broad day light.
@inpact: that's coming to an end as the Chinese are buying up homes and turning Bayview into another Chinatown. Why do you think they're building a subway that will extend the T line INTO Chinatown?

Arm the parking control officers. Hire Rudy Guiliani to clean up the mess...zero tolerance for all violations.

Thank you Stanley for helping clean up the most beautiful city on earth.

Wish I was in Bayview. A few flyers from "a certain site with a bad word in it" slipped in the wipers would be GLORIOUS.

That's why, when enforcing rule-of-law in violent areas of the world such as Bayview, we wear balaclavas: google. com/images?q=police+balaclavas
