@136Flyboy The best thing to do is bring him to a wildlife rehab center, but if they can't take him then feed him as many bugs as possible. They need to be fed every 20-30 minutes because of their fast metabolisms. If he's already flying, hold the bug in the air with tweezers to make him "hunt" for it, which will teach him skills he'll need in the wild. You can also feed him a formula called Mazuri which you can get online. But mostly bugs!
Barn Swallows are insectivores; their parents feed them ONLY insects. The only replacement food that is available to the public that will suffice during the first couple of weeks of life is Songbird Nestling Formula put out by Mazuri. I have to order it online, but it's the only formula that contains the right amount of vitamins, minerals, carbs and calories that songbirds need in order to not just live, but to thrive. For those that find and abandoned bird, call a rehabilitation expert asap...

I found one today and I think he is 3 to 4 weeks old. Can I start to feed him bugs now? Please reply because I don't want him to die.
