  • I like the drum sounds. It's like artillery's noises. Fits perfectly.

  • This music is amazing. Doesn't need any bullshit american video to it tho.

  • check my new video! chinese and melanesians belong to the same genetic family (southeast asians and oceanians). with scientific proof

  • Awesome song and touches me deeply with the lyrics..

  • whats with the drums

  • wow good vidéo I'm love that

  • This music must be a gift from heaven.I just cannot stop playing it. Thanks a lot Orbitaledy. "The Swede".

  • wow

  • the reverb sounds okay to me. The beginning is really epic-feeling because of the higher tone the choir starts out with.

  • Some thing terrible must have happened that orbitaledy had done this pitying for himself. The scenery is probably in vietnam or some asian ....surely not in any Melanesian island. Most likely his grand dad stopped a bullet in one these actions.

  • what possible reason did this idiot have in messing up this song

i feel bad for those that watched this and thought it was the actual tune because they missed out on greatness.

  • @krf7 you have a problem ??

  • @krf7 Contrast...A simple concept

  • @krf7 please STFU. you're the only one here whining...that's what is messing it up. hopefully you'll get enough thumbs down your comment is removed.

  • I could listen to this uplifting piece of music for hours without necessarily relating it to the film!

  • Melanesians exist because the Marines got their before the japanese could rape and pillage their unknown island.

JK I don't know shit about shit.

    Great music when drunk.

  • 0:28 - where is this picture from? Looks like Guadacanal just with modern soldiers

....one of the best movies I've ever seen

  • i like the drums :)

  • Forget what the naysayers think, I applaud the reverb. Gives the whole piece a much more spiritual feel to it. I love it!

  • Nice....and a great Film

    Greetz from Germany

  • I don't care if it's drums or whatever.

It messes up the beautiful music.

    You ruined it!

  • @TheLegendaryDoc

    don't like it? don't listen...

  • @orbitaledy don't like what you read then don't read it just a thought

    anyway good music

  • can you tell me what you did on the music? Did you just duplicate, slightly repositioned one track and add reverb?

    thanks

  • This piece of music has become my theme, listen to it everyday of my life. Cant express how it makes me feel, a spirit of something unknown, that reaches far beyond all sense of explanation. It touches me deeply. I play it here for Pia, my soulmate in Australia, she knows what it means to me. For my son Elliott who is the one who gives me my inspiration in life. love you my boy, Until we meet again son, listen to this and know that there is wonder and hope. From Daddy. For Pia and Elli.

  • I'm Thin Red Line fan n i have to say this movie and song were just really awesome... very touching...... Nice combination....

  • Das berührt mich sehr. Die Bilder mit der Musik.

  • la mejor pelicula belica de todos los tiempos con uno de los repartos mas gloriosos, con una banda sonora sublime, técnica depurada... bua brutal!!!

  • very good :D

  • A movie that actualy portratays war as it was

  • also like this calm before the storm

  • Does this have any relation to shape singing (sacred harp)? To a non-musical ear like mine, kind of sounds similar.

  • i like the bass

  • It was a beautifull movie..!

(Sorry for the poor english, its not my first language.).

  • What's with the bass sounds in the background?

That's not from the soundtrack, not from the movie or anything.

Why did you mess it up?!?!

  • you mess it with your comment..

  • @TheLegendaryDoc

Drums you idiot, those are drums.

  • can you tell me what you did on the music? Did you just duplicate, slightly repositioned one track and add reverb?

    thanks

  • @itmfilms

i added drums.. pretty much and add reverb

  • @TheLegendaryDoc

bass is absolutely ok here :)

  • nice

  • UNGLAUBLICHE GUTE MUSIK

  • I think this is an arrangement by Hans Zimmer of a hymn by these guys.....Words: Frances Havergal, 1874. Music: Louis Hérold, 1839...... and sung in pigeon English by the by a Melanesian Church choir, but don't quote me :-)

  • amazing....i feel heaven

  • Je ne peux m'empêcher de voir des similitudes entre ces choeurs mélanésiens et la tradition du "shape note" américain.

This sounds similar in many way to the "Sacred Harp / Shape Note" tradition of Southern United States. Anyone with an informed opinion on the matter?

  • german composer Hans Zimmer did this.... just incredible!!!

  • lindo coral... baixei o cd

  • beautiful

  • Beautiful and pure.

    Thanks. Terrence .... :)

  • @latino7630 hanz zimmer did the music

  • hans zimmer

  • now I now what they mean when they say you need music when you watch a beautiful movie like the Thin Red Line.

It is a beautiful song and I was looking for it, thank you

  • know what, I think this music is gonna get its full, true meaning when there'll be no more "god bless" and "country"

  • men dont like to kill each other, even if they think they do

    fear, it's all about fear..

    a primitive weakness, nothing much

  • @antoneurng

Wow..I think your comment is the BEST comment I've ever read relating to humanity..

  • i dont understand?

  • @antoneurng 'men dont like to kill each other, even if they think they do' - At least, whenever it's not psychopathy or whatever you call someone who really likes to kill and is pathologically not scared of anything.

Luckily they're pretty rare people... Although, I think one of the points of this film was that nature gives us this primal 'weakness' and violent compulsion and perhaps it's a form of natural population control, in fact.

  • Yeah this is part of Melanesian history, the war on Malaya. Lest we forget!

  • this makes me think of them all gathering at the shore to sing at the sunset. Almost makes me cry :)

  • swell.

  • you know you were drunk last night if you wake up with melanesian choir music playing on your laptop WFT!!

  • I laughed so hard at that lol!!!!! That made my day!

  • wtf, u laughed? do u know what this song is about?

  • i think he ment that he laughed at Spencerkicksass' comment, not the song ;)

    Anyways, great song, simply beautiful.

  • rock on! :D

  • <3. So... incredible...

  • I've seen another world. Sometimes I think it was just my imagination.

Ca me fait rêver au paradis perdu...

Je me demande ce que signifie ce merveilleux chant..

  • awesome

  • love it

  • just a great film, great music.....great statement...war? for what?!

  • @DonRoylione...That was second world war I believe, Yes South Pacific Islanders did go for WW2 to defend and keep their island nations with great help from Britain and USA. The Japanese were moving down South of the Pacific only to be defeated by great Nesian Warriors-this took place in the Solomon Islands known as.."The War on Malaya"..may our brave soldiers who fought that day be remembered always.

  • the thin red line is problaby the film which show better to the people the truth of the war.

  • cette musique est tout simplement superbe et bien en contradiction avec cette periode de l'histoire ou la barbarie était de meche avec la folie humaine. Sale histoire mais film magnifiquement realiste

  • is Hans Zimmer the author of this piece?

    amazin...

  • Believe or not, my great great grandpa help American and its allies during this war in Dutch New Guinea[West Papua] and we've forgotten from their history[American & Australian History]. There are many pieces of allies' names written but my grandparents were simplied excluded. I've heard similar song in our native language sang by our mothers in churches. Sad history...

  • Ya know how to bring the teras to me!

  • Emotion moment !

    From BOOTAKILL to France

  • This song makes me think about the great problems happening around the world..

I'd like to know the meaning of the words..

    but I agree... IT'S A MASTERPIECE.

  • I wonder about the meaning of the words..

such a song.. makes me feel like heaven..

  • The title is God yu tekkem laef blong mi - look at the lyrics on the internet, it's not hard to guess the meaning. For example the title could be translated by "God you take life belong me" = God, you took my life

  • thanx

  • This movie makes me cry, gives me the sens of life. Masterpiece. I'm so happy to share this feeling with you.

  • AMAZING EXCELLENT!!!!!

  • wow

    this is simply amazing

crazy how it is implemented into a war movie to create a simply sublime feeling of mixed emotions.

  • no he wasn't a jap

  • " This great evil. Where does it come from? How'd it steal into the world? What seed, what root did it grow from? Who's doin' this? Who's killin' us? Robbing us of life and light. Mockin' us with the sight of what we might've known. Does our ruin benefit the earth? Does it help the grass to grow, the sun to shine? Is this darkness in you, too? Have you passed to this night? "

  • yeah Hans Zimmer

  • Beautiful.

  • WOW! no words to describe how wonderful it is! orbitaledy could you send me this tune?

  • Nicely done. So "otherworldly".

Makes you think...perhaps it is their societies that will outlast the present order of things after all.

  • such powerful music makes you think about all the soldiers who fight in war...every soldier in war..finds himself alone sometimes..it there where he thinks about life and what great things god made and mankind is destroying....thanks

  • right...right ... right....

  • where the fuck can you imagine war in this heaven's song?

  • so beautiful.....

  • Every bodies talking about Japan and America, what about the Islanders?

People were living in their own peaceful world, out of nowhere there came war.

People have never seen planes in their life time, never knew about war," out of the sky came these noisy birds " thats what they thought. Imagine that.

  • LMAO yea buddy suuuure, Islanders have been warring just as much as any other culture, remember Fiji? they named it the cannibal isles one of the most violent places in the world at the time, pretty much the same deal with the rest of the pacific

  • But they dont go and destroy the inocent people in Japan and America though. You have to realize also, that back then America treated black people like animals. So, knowing that there were black people on these Islands, they basically didn't care even about the lives of children.

  • scho

this song is "GOD U TEKEM LAEF BLONG MI"

  • Free Melanesia!

    Free Papua!

    Free Maluku!

    Mena!!!

  • incredible film, far superior to Saving Priv. Ryan and I say that as an extra who worked on SPR. So many incredible scenes but my favourite is when the native islander with his hunting spear walks past all these heavily armed US troops and just completely ignores them. It's as if he's immunised himself to the barbarism and violence engulfing his homeland as 2 foreign armies battle it out. Malick, what a genius.

  • ... amazing movie, far underrated and far better than Saving Private Ryan ... 5*

  • orbitaledy, if i gave you my email could you send me this song? i REALLY like it!

  • Yes..

  • makes me feel human again

  • well said..

  • perfect response man

  • if you don´t watch the thin red line, you are not human...

  • yeah!,yeah!

  • i love it when solomon islanders sing...awesome n gr8 song..god bless our solomon island brothers n sisters

  • Absolutely beautiful. These people somehow convey powerful emotions through their music; their singing in the film pulled at ones own emotions. Thanks for posting this!

  • fucking beautiful thanks for posting

  • trust me, for those who have ever fought in a war it is a spiritual event in a persons life. its the sole event that has existed for thousands of years, causes more fear, destruction and despair in humans. it is also natural as after the rebuilding process occurs. it makes me laugh to think that people believe we exist outside of nature: fire happens and after it dies down the vegetation returns. so to with wars aftermath does life continue on.

  • does anyone have these two melanesian songs in a sharable form? and on what network? i need them for my travels throughout the islands

  • I bought the soundtrackafter this movie came out-it's pretty great.

  • its a war movie and yet the most spiritual movie i have ever seen. malick is a genius.

  • The songs in the thin red line were very moving nice vid:)

  • BeaUTifUL!

  • can someone PLEASE translate the words of this song an post them here or just put the lyrics....I'd be very very VERY gratefull!!
