  • John i am a huge fan of ur work but i have a couple of questions. Do u strum with ur pinky when ur doing that fancy strum of yours, and why is there no precussive part in ur tabs

  • Your music and abilities are absolutely awesome, man. I hope your music takes you far!! If you're ever in the Louisville, KY or Evansville, IN area, It would be awesome to see ya!!

  • John...you are a gift to us all. Please embrace the talent that you possess. The passion you have for your music moves thousands.

  • haha this is my new favorite song. speaking of naming pets. this is a true storie but my grandma got a red austalian shepeard and she couldnt figure out a name for her so her name is... red dog. no joke its on her tag and everything lol :)

  • His songs are played in a Nylon stringed spanish guitar right?

  • @edergar yes, I think it is, it looks (to me) like a standard spanish guitar. because the string bend different, studiply enough.

  • i love you

  • hahaha i love the story about the iguana at the top..."......i struggle with naming my songs....actually...i struggle with naming pets too......" great music and some laughs

  • Mna I would so love to play like that.

  • John I have been a guitar player for 7 years now and one of my dream is to learn to play flamenco and to play like this. But my nails break and they're real thin is there anything I can do for them not break? (Note: I have made them round so that they don't break at the ends)

  • you know what my good man,

It is mainly because of you that I have picked up the classical guitar. You are a real inspiration. Thanks so much!

Maybe some day I can repay you with a nice little video if I can ever come up with somthing solid. I will definitely keep at it!

    cheers

  • you have earned yourself a new fan!!amazing.....

  • I love how you pick the strings with your fingers straight! xD

  • John since I have put you in my Ipod I have purchased 4 guitars.....next thing to do; learn how to play.....Thanks!

  • WOW... Love it =)

  • You should use those last 3 comments on your iguana as names for songs as in "climb on treetops", "sway in the wind" and "bask in the sunlight"

  • this is my favorite one :)

one question: is the version available on your website in tabs or notes?

    thanks :)

  • how can i upload this song i want it soo bad for my ringtone lol

  • I love how hes telling us a big story about names up in the corner during the performance

  • I would love!! For this man to be my flameco/spaniard guitar, teacher.

  • john you should make more videos in color .

  • if i ever learn how to play this song then my life will be complete

  • For how long have you been playing? This is really great, and I've been practically commiting myself to learning how to play this because it makes me so happy!

  • Love it!!

  • AMAZING! because of you I want to learn how to play the guitar now.

  • wow sorprendente

  • can you somehow get your music on Pandora? i would love to add you to my station.

  • can you somehow get your music on Pandora? i would love to add you to my station.

  • I watched your older version of Un Tren and saw that it asks if I like that one or this one better, and I think I'd say this one.

I'm thinking it's because of the extra overlays and the cleaner, better sound? Other than that I'm not sure.

Though changing the camera angles on the older one was cute and kinda funny. :D I hope that's ok.

  • you should make a song called: "la iguana" ha hah aha

  • @ifhyymf You just made my day 6 months later...

  • @divinegod102 ha ha, i had to rewatch this vid again, cuz i didnt even remember of seen it

  • you really inspire me i play guitar and its hard to say that i was going to give up but when i hear you i said " oh this guy is awesome, one day i play like him" its a crazy dream just keep it mega!!! thans for your music

  • ole! viva espana!!

  • i listened to your music for at least 4 hours while doing homework. def gunna go buy a guitar and learn to play this summer! just wanted you to know that you are inspiring

  • You're my idol! You're the reason I pick up my guitar to practice everyday <3 I just listen to any one of your videos and I'm just so inspired!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful music! I am going to head out to San Fran just to hear you live one day. (:

    <3 a 16 year old from cali (:

  • Funny that you relate it back to the subway, I always envision a train cruising across wide open plains under an endless blue sky. I feel like this is the perfect soundtrack to a hopeful train ride to a new beginning somewhere out West. Just a man and his guitar sitting in an open cargo car, watching the land go by with the wind in his hair and a smile on his face.

  • "Un Tren" means "A Train" in romanian too. :D Nice music you play there. I started playing the guitar (acoustic one) about 3 years ago but I still have lots to learn. :)

  • I love your side notes :D hahaha

  • Love the hat! xD

  • this song is what happens when angels have orgasms

  • name it by "the fingers that fucked the guitar" lil romance name :)

  • Love it!

  • full of techniques

  • Much prefer this one, but tbh they are both amazing!

  • hahaha, my iguana's name is john..... sorry

  • i like the old version better.

  • John, your talent is amazing and your work is inspirational. I have always wanted to play guitar and believe if I could play, the pain, the emotion, the love and the deisre to truely express myself would find a path outside of me. I'm left handed. Do you suggest learning to play right handed or stay with my dominate left?

I would like to purchase some of your music. I'll assume a category of songs are listed on your website?

You are FANTASTIC! BRAVO TO YOU!

  • Joder que de puta madre...

  • ive never played this style before but am thinking of starting would a normal acoustic with acoustic strings be ok for this?

  • Love this! Hard to compare both versions (for me at least) since they are recorded in different settings. I also go distracted by you story about the subway and the pet naming lol. It did make me laugh though (your storytelling not your lovely music).

  • John,

You have been blessed with a gift, and I admire you and the talent that has been bestowed upon you. Keep up the great work.

  • I think I like the new version better, but I still love the old version! You have to do a tutorial on how to do that golpe technique... sounds amazing!

  • Very Fantastic !!!

  • Can't get enough of this video, of watching your hands move, of the sound -- melody and percussion. Very very nice. Much success to you ...

  • i love it. especially the commentary at the top lol

  • Nylon strings?

  • john this is sick music your playing! I'm actually a hardcore/metal/pop punk type of guitarist. And even though the scenes are entirely different I know when I'm hearing good music. and this is beautiful music. I actually saw you this past weekend in San Fran. Awsome stuff man. I hope your music sends your carrer soaring :]. God bless you and good luck

  • Hi. Love this song. I would like to suggest listening to John Gilliat ...."what about seven" song for example... He remainded me of your song. It would be very interesting if you would consider some thoughts abouts his "style"/music. It just seems to me the same style/type of modern flamenco guitar. I may be wrong but id hate to see two great guitarist like that not knowing about eachother styles Maybe it could enrich both dnno...anyway.. i just wanted to know if you knew about him and his work.

  • joer ta demasiao oleeeeee tus manitas ... saludos fiera..

  • so, did you set your iguana free?

  • Hello Mr Clark my name is Jesus I've been playing for a year and really like how Spanish guitar sounds I've been playing with a pick and just recently began finger picking what can i do to help my overall playing???

  • i like this one better than ur older one but all ur muci is good...no.....amazing!

  • you should go to amircan got talent !!;D cuz you have it !!!

  • Be honest, how much pussy do you get with this amazing talent?

  • i like the old one more

  • what type of loop peda are you using

  • Love it!

  • awesome

  • Un Tren means a train in Romanian as well...congrats man, keep ut up, you're verry good!

  • I love your music! I do not know much about the technicalities of music, but you sound really good and make me want to keep hearing :)

And your annotations are brilliant man! :) They make an interesting read, great going!

  • I absolutely love your music!! I just wanted you to know that you have inspired me to learn how to play Spanish guitar!!

  • Thank you John Clarke, for the beauty you give us.

  • sounds like a train riding theme now that i think about it xDD just invisioned a music vid with this song and sumone just havin a good time on the subway lol

  • Inspiring

  • wow man ive been following you for a while now.. and even though i do not make time for the spanish guitar anymore.. i am still heavily in awe by your music. keep doing what you do.. pretty soon you'll be enlightening the heavens with this music. God bless

  • Wow Mr.Clark! You made a train's sound! I love your songs so much! But the last video's quality was better. By the way, I like it! Gracias from Vietnam! :)

  • Amaze

  • un tren means a train in romanian as well. Greetings from Romania and Canada !

  • you're the best spanish guitar's player on the entire world dude!

  • Bellisimo!

  • why are playing on the street and subways, while you could have a real concerts?

  • @Hakan625

I don't always tune the guitar with a tuner....instead just relative to the other stings...so sometimes the pitch doesn't follow the standards concert A440. I only get away with this playing solo of course.

  • @johnclarkemusic

LOL, for about 10 years or more I never once played a guitar in tune. I learned how to tune by ear in relation to each string, and I never bothered to use a real concert pitch untill recently. The only reason I bother to do it now is that I hope eventually it may help me when it comes to trying to play other peoples music. I have never really tried to learn many other peoples music, but I do think I will like to eventually in maybe anouther 10 years if I can train my ears.

  • Could you show us the strumming pattern in this song in a tutorial???

  • @AlecLoso

Yes, definitely in the future sometime. This is a rumba pattern much like the Gypsy Kings play. Its hallmark is the syncopated accent on the last 16th note of the 1st beat, which is immediately followed by a palm mute or a hit on the 2nd beat.

  • @AlecLoso ey dog what guitar is that it looks wayy to thin

  • @diabl0401 Its a Cordoba 55FCE. It's a thin body nylon string acoustic/electric.

  • you may struggle naming your songs but you sure dont struggle performing them i could watch you playing for a month of sundays thanx john clarke

  • beautiful ....... :-)

  • the last note in the top corner should have been, i havn't found it since

  • you really like starting a song by percussive guitar!

  • nice songname :P

in romanian it means A TRAIN :P

but i think in the original language too :P

  • heey mr.john am a big fan of u ... can u please tell me how to improve my self to reach ur level i practice every day on the DDUHUDU :P but what next ??? :D

  • @swaidguitar

Start learning scales on the fretboard. Figure out how notes relate to each other and which ones sound good together. Discover the patterns.

  • @johnclarkemusic Wow! That's hard! I can do the DDUHUDU quite good, but except for "the most evolve", I canna find another song for it. (no money to buy :P) How do you feel the music!?

  • @johnclarkemusic that really was the best n most sense sounding advice i have ever heard some1 give on here lol

  • @johnclarkemusic

what scale book do you recommend we purchase?

  • @swaidguitar his name is John, so it's supposed to be Mr. Clarke :P

  • @swaidguitar Take it from a 46 year old woman: 1-Continue to practice daily, 2-Before you begin to practice THANK GOD FOR BLESSING you WITH THE TALENT, ABILITY AND DESIRE to play the guitar, 3-Specifically ask GOD TO INCREASE the areas that you want to increase, 4-ALWAYS SPEAK OUT LOUD WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO ACCOMPLISH!!! YOUR ARE POWERFUL!!! They go out into the world and accomplish everything that you sent them out to do, SO USE THEM WISELY!!! YOU HAVE BEEN DIVINELY DESTINED FOR GREATNESS!

  • I love it, your guitar playing is amazing beautiful and very energetic*

  • lol at the iguana

  • As great as ever...We would not only love to see perform, we would love to have you play at our wedding, would that be possible?

  • how can u make it sound like OUD ? :D really i love this version its better than the other

  • Amazing as always. It just gets better every time I watch it. You have got some seriously impressive skills and are the reason I now try to play guitar everyday. You are one hard man to try to emulate. I love the guitar cam and would like to respectfully request that you play in Nashville someday.

  • So nice....

  • beautiful and doubly engaging - thanks to the running captions at the top. i didn't notice them until around 1:57 ;-b it's like blogging your video, i enjoyed your "narration". quite don't know what yo call "it"

    .

  • Another great performance, I love it. As another poster mentioned I too have noticed how you just seem to get better all the time. How much time do you dedicate to practicing daily? Do you have a set routine you follow, like "pumping nylon" for example or do you just play songs for practice?

  • I love this CD (I just had to buy it!!) .... and to see you playing just makes this song even more a favorite!!!

  • great playing, you inspire me to play classical guitar.

One question, what loop pedal are you using?

  • Thank you for sharing your wonderful music with us John!

  • The annotations in this video are simply great :D laughed my ass off at the iguana story :), and of course as always, one more beautiful song from you John :)

  • Great!

  • what do you call that style of playing? is that still flamenco? great vid by the way, awesome songs and i love the performance...kinda makes me wanna go to to do that in a subway :)

  • the commentary in the corner made me chuckle. and i love your music, it always relaxes me.

  • Awesom..

  • Are you still using your guitar back in the old day or this is a new one? But it sounds really nice anyway. Always love your music! I live in LA but I'd pay you a visit some how. Can you tell me your perfoming schedule?

  • if u live in boston and and want more improvement, why not attend Berklee?

  • whooo!

  • COOL! :)

  • Man you dont know how much you have inspired me in my wanting to learn how to play flamenco. the problem for me is that i cant find a teacher here in southern california. i swear ive seen all of your videos and ive loved them all. if you could point me towards a good teacher or good research i would greatly appreciate it. keep these videos coming.

  • WOW JOHN! THAT WAS AWESOME

  • well played John.....the playing style is awesome....seems like flamengo

  • it resembles the most evolved :))

  • great job man! I like all of your work, and i think that you are one of the best modern players! Hope u will come to europe one time and make a tour...it would be nice to see you play in live! Greatings from Slovenia!

  • I'm a big fan of this one =)

  • great!

  • mr John H. Clarke you must tell us where you are going to be next , soo we can come down and watch you!!!

  • PSS. I liked that you wrote in little big of background of the song and other stuff. It was nice to read while listening to nice tune.

  • It would be nice to see another camera angle.

  • @DavesTreeFarm yeh i wanna see those chords right ^^

  • PS. I struggle with naming pets too XD lol

  • un amazing tren!! mm hmmm!!!

  • You are AWESOME !!!

  • love watching that E string wobble. It looks happy, no?

  • Yo dude, so do you do scheduled shows on the street or just show up somewhere and start jammin?

  • i am speechless. i love all of your songs. all of them, and the commentary is great too!

  • Bravo. I don't normally ever take the time to comment to my subscriptions. But I have to say I really very enjoyed the light hearted commentary to this video. (Not to mention the very enjoyable music) I've been watching you for awhile now, so I think you deserve at least, a modest thank you.

    Thank you!

    ~Lee

  • Your guitar skills have visibly improved since you first started posting your vids several years ago. I have followed you since your first vids and bought several stuff from you. And now, you seem to play a lot more fluently, easily, and relaxed. Too bad I did not dedicate these years to more important stuff. . . I got 37nukes in Modern warfare 2, does that count!?!? lol
