but who are you to judge? have you been part of the city council? they're not having a debate on these issues but likely just paper formalities. you are a layman and don't know how the system works. you're just going on your frustrated emotions.
It's great to see a town where progress doesn't happen at a snail's pace. This council was elected again by the majority, by those who aren't too lazy to get out and vote. Langford voted Stew Young in a couple times now because nobody will oppose him. He must be doing something right eh?
Having met him, his goonies and seen him at work, I can downright tell you that he only employs yes-men and is not at ALL in touch with reality. At a closed ceremony in October of last year, to which I was a staff member of the facility, he said that Langford has NOT felt ANY effect from the recession. *rolls eyes* Maybe he and his buddies haven't, but the rest of us sure have!
Please note the municipal elections are in a couple weeks. No one is running agaisnt the mayor. The silent majority actually support this council. If you respect democracy then you must accept it too. I do have a issue with second & third readings of any bylaws in one session. I think they should only be able to do one reading per council meeting. This would give members of the public adequate time to ask questions or format opposition. That would seem more fair & less rushed.
What - No speeding ticket? 7 by-laws passed, less than 8 seconds each. Mayor does not look up ONCE. No one on council looks or notes possible objections despite binding laws which forbid making such decisions in advance. Yet it appears everyone KNOWS the outcome & that there will be NO elected dissent, NO discussion. Classic "FOREGONE CONCLUSION" block voting. In a fiefdom, public participation by taxpayers is irrelevant. "DE-MOCK-RACY" IN ACTION.
Looks like they have it all worked out behind the scenes and just push it through at the meeting as quickly as possible, thus minimizing the amount of discussion the public sees. They probably go in camera if there's anything contentious to deal with.

It would be interesting if someone were to run against him. I wonder if they would be bullied and threatened. Actually I know the answer to that.

I made it for free. $0.
I think of it as a public service.
