I'm in Canada too, and we don't wear shoes inside. (I have indoor slippers, but usually just wear socks.) I can't imagine public washroom filth and dog poo on my floors, and even worse some people wear them up on the couch, and the BED!

And no wonder people's feet stink! Mine only smell a little if I'm stuck in public for like 12 hrs or more with shoes on. :x

What I dont get is why people put carpet at all! over here in Asia no one puts carpet in their homes, we also dont wear outside shoes in the house. Why would you do that, imagine all the dirt that your shoes pick up outside, then you wear it into your home...

If you got no carpet, you can mop the floor and clean up spills easily too.

@donnk I know carpet is so inconvienent. I can't wait until my parents gut their house and put down a nice wooden floor. Some of my family members come home all the time and don't take off their shoes the entire time they're here. Sometimes they leave their shoes on for days and then just throw them on the floor in a corner or somewhere. Ugh, it's so gross. Our carpet used to be nice but now it's all ratty and gross, and no amount of cleaner or shampooing is going to fix that. -_-
