Stagg is mainly for beginners...Cheap but good ratio price/quality....Stagg is the best bass from cheap instruments...

If you can afford it, I highly recommend the Squier 70s Vintage Modified Jazz.. It looks lovely, and plays really well. If you go too cheap, you will get an instrument that is a pig to play, and you will be discouraged.

Ekolu4us143 - I got a Squire jazz bass, my instructor played it at a gig and really liked it. Someone else had mentioned the Squire Vintage Modified Jazz Bass, while I haven't played one, all the reviews I read really liked that bass.

If you look around, pick yourself up a cheap Ibanez, sr series, I saw an Sr200 for 99quid ina cash converters. Good places to look as they are clueless about pricing! I would buy secong hand as you can get way better deals and their always almost brand new the folk who are selling, don't think that you have to buy new as it looks better, I regreted it when I did that.

No, seriously they are muffled notes without pitch - you pick normally with your right hand but dont press the left hand fingers down on the fretboard , they just touch / choke the strings giving a "thud" sound
