This woman was pure love! You just had to know her! I saw her with Donnie and Reba at Life Fellowship Church in Nashville back in 1991. Her eyes must be shining like fire now in Heaven. She just oozed the Love of God! Elvis loved her dearly and she inspired many of his gospel songs. They used to sit together and sing, she said.

interesting to watch Dottie as she watches Sandy Patti (in video of this song with Patty singing). Dottie keeps shaking her head and frowns a good deal, lol. In the words of Beethoven, it appears she is thinking that Patty is 'making a hash of it'. Patty over-prolongs her notes and is a show off. Dottie was classic and a much better, more credible artist.

Dottie Rambo was full blooded Indian, Cherokee, if I remember correctly. She spoke about her heritage many times when on TBN's "Praise The Lord" program. She's home now. We miss you Dottie.

I first saw Ms. Dottie on TBN years ago. I always admired her and meat to write her and now wish I had. I too have suffered greatly in my life and have written under inspiration many songs the Lord gave me to write. God is the great Creator and deserves all Glory and honor and praise. I know Ms. Dottie would say the same.

A lot of performers loved Dottie Rambo including Elvis and Barbara Mandrell and Dolly Pardon. And I loved her. She was a treasure.

A testimony to Dottie's genius is that through her music she ministered to more people with each of her songs than many of these so called "preachers" will minister to in a lifetime. For years I would not darken the door of a church because I hate hypocrits, yet the purity, honesty, and spiritual richness of Dottie's music kept me from spiritually drying up. I look forward to the day in Heaven when I can meet her and say "Thank You." Each of her songs means more to me than any sermon.

I believe Dottie's Mother was deaf, She signed so that her Mother could "Hear" her sing. She was the best songwriter and her music will live on and generations of people will be prasing their Lord singing and listening to her music.

I have never read anything about Dottie's mother being deaf, but she was blind in one eye and had poor eyesight in the other one. I have never read anything, either, about when or why Dottie learned sign language, but I sure do like to watch her sign her songs.

Songs that some black performers have made into bigger hits.
