And, on top of that, of the 36 countries ranked above us, only 2 lack a national health care system and, of the 34 nationalized or partially nationalized systems that beat us, only 2, I think Sweden and Norway, paid more than half what we do per capita. But yeah, if you ignore rational argument, logic, numbers, most forms of morality, and the situations in every country in the developed world, private health care makes plenty of sense.
Health Care was ok, Untill prez. clinton, Turned Loose the h.m.o.'s. h.m.o.'s are the real problem. If You Want Free Medical? Join The Military! Most of Thier Dr.'s Are Pretty Good! & If? You get out, with an Honerable Discharge. The V.A Works/Fixes Most Medical. About all Except Dental. I Do The V.A. When I'm Laid-off. GOD BLESS, OUR TROOPS & ALL TRUE PATRIOTS! Sic Semper Tyrannis! Deo Vindice!
I don't think they 'reckoned' anything like that. They know that if companies can cancel health insurance without pissing off their employees too much, they'll do it. The only people who would be left with health insurance would be those people who own their own businesses and don't want their health-care rationed to them.
Saying that the government plan would not be subsidized is just plain silly. But no matter, it would cause death, much like the French system does.
Dimwits? Well Mr. Bulb or should I say KNOB. The government is not the solution for the health care problem . Every program they touch becomes wasteful and corrupt. All it is for them is another way to control.I do not want to live in a Socialist country.say like,France. Why does so much of America think the government can fix everything? What happened to taking care of it ourselves? Did we just get lazy?No we are just tired. Paying more taxes is the problem. Soon we will have to 3 jobs.
Misinformed! France is not led by Socialists. Check your facts. It is still a capitalistic mixed economy as is Britain, Canada, Germany, Norway, Finland, and indeed Russia. Only Russia of these countries has moved large chunks of its public health care over to private business and it has been an unmitigated disaster with worse health care outcomes than under soviet times.
jonathan , Does the health care system need to be fixed yes. Does the government need to stick its FAT fingers in ,no. I do not know if you have ever dealt with a government entity. I have it is enough to make you feel like a dog chasing your tail. Veterans Hospitals, do you have one near by? Go there listen to the stories. Even Obama said he would go outside the public health care system to seek help for his family. That tells it all. I believe in freedom simple as that. I want to chose.
WHO placed France in 1st place overall for its healthcare system. US was in 37th place.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Dimwits. Of course its choice.
The experts reckoned that 119m people would CHOOSE to switch to a public plan.
The other 190m would stay in the private plans. That still leaves a lot of space for competition.
The govt plan would not be subsidized but it would be run more cost effectively than the current system.
You only have to see how effectively other countries like France manage this to understand that there IS another way. Better care, and lowe cost.

Because the government is so good at being cost effective? The government is the only corporation that doesn't care if it operates at a loss!

johnj2427 You are right ! All we have to do is look at Congress. They do not produce anything but more lining for their pockets.

The public option lets you choose if you want to stay on your private coverage.
