  • one of the best engine sounds ive ever heard

  • now do 2 stroke diesels turn rather low rpms bcause theyre diesel or rather hugh rpms because theyre 2 stroke?

  • @EATSLEEPDRIVE2002 *high rpms

  • @EATSLEEPDRIVE2002 the 2 stroke Detroits at 2,200 RPM, don't turn any faster than the 4 strokes at 2,200 RPM, but have twice the number of exhaust pulses, so they sound faster. Diesels in general turn slower than gasoline due to combustion speed, but the small car engines in Diesel get up to 4,000+ RPM.

  • @dougspair thanks. i know 2 strokes turn usually into the double-digit thousands of RPMs so i wasnt sure if 2 stroke deisels got up to the same speed

  • @DetroitDieselBob i like this sound;)

  • that thing sounds mean, kinda has a v8 gasser sound to it almost

  • turbo?

  • Wonder what the power would be if they removed the fan.

  • @Joeoski ??

  • @dlinecg You know remove the metal cooling fan and put a electric fan setup , so the motor spins up quicker .

  • @Joeoski that wouldnt make any difference at all. removing the fan wouldnt make it spin quicker

  • always loved the sound of a 2 stroke diesel

  • Hell, sound more like a jetfighter. :O

  • awesome

  • Go spend 10 hours on that grading gravel county roads all day!!! You'll be re-thinking that setup with open cab. :) Love it!

  • If it had the allison transmission sound then it would sound like a bus.

  • im gonna record this in mp3,, then play it through a loud speaker in my car next time i go down town,,,cnt w8 2c all the heads turn!!!

  • It sounds like a V8 petrol gas engine in the rotations. :-)

  • I don't know how many times I've watched this video and I still think it sounds amazing!

  • .....the pistons never stop!

  • Well!.....I'll be damned! Someone beat me! Put a 350 HP detroit in an old grader! I put a 245 HP 4-71 T in my Champion and one in my Huber as well. I guess I need to put a "6" 71 T in my other champion to one up this video!

  • how has someone managed to dislike this video?

  • @sasukeuchihayou I agree , How could anyone not like old iron , unless there city folk.

  • it looks and sounds like its something thats going to kill the living shit outta you in your sleep.... no not even in your sleep its gonna come up behind you and rape the fuckin shit outta you xD

  • 6v92 gm

  • That thing sounds awesome with the turbo!

  • 6V53 !!

  • @ejsayler1

nope its a 6v92, i've checked the plates on the valve cover

  • @tobyk321 6v92T can see the turbo

  • @tobyk321 Is an Adams motor grader? We have old Adams with an I-H UD14 powerplant. Look forward to more of your videos.

  • @tobyk321 you can also tell just by looking at the valve cover.

  • That is a 6v92.

  • @peterbiltexd lol there is no 4 cylinder v made by detroit

  • wonderful

  • is only one of the most beautiful I've heard pretty much the sound of that engine .. it is a v8 diesel?

  • nice.sound

  • nice, nice, nice

  • no more videos of it yet. but summer is comming, i'll get some more vids of it in action

  • I really like this machine! you have more videos of this machine?

  • Love those DD 2 strokes

  • Sounds good but too loud with out a muffler. The installation is a bit rough. Open fan with no shroud. No hood either.

  • Awsome

  • Sounds like 6v92T.....turbo whine. 6v53 sounds a little different, not as throaty as this engine sounds. Plus, most 6v53 and 6v71 didn't have turbo, just the required blower (which is considered naturally aspirated for a Detroit). But, they all sound good!!!

  • Due to the valve covers, it is a 6v92T.

  • That started out as an IH, that's probably a UD-14 grill on the back. Used to run one of those with a 4-71.

  • sounds really good

  • Motor Grader!!! I LOVE Detroit Engines!!

  • im pretty sure it is a 6v53

  • that looks like a old Adams motor grader, most were IH powered, Did it take alot of put that engine in that!?

  • i pretty sure it a 6v92

  • @tobyk321 too small for a 92

  • Detriot baby!

  • Its definatly a v type engine probably a 6v53

  • theres no such thing as a 4v71, ive seen tons of 471s
