  • Have the right to enjoy the company of a ferret. The last instance that the permit but under safety standards such as sterilization, for example in Chile (where I live), SAG (Agricultural and Livestock Service), allowed the entry of these species under strict rules for tenure as pets (must be sold sterile) and business (complete reproductive organs) go through strict testing and meet stringent requirements to be authorized. I am a student of Veterinary

  • but - legalize where they can't escape.

shit.. have you people not heard the rabbit and cane toad story of Australia?

knowing modern pet owners it will be 2 weeks till first hundred ferrets manage to escape.

  • @EdTheBadass Please do your research before you make a comment that is completely false! Domestic ferrets cannot colonize in the wild! They will die within a few days. Have you thought of this, ferrets would generate an amazing $700,000.00 a year for the state of California. Wow think how many jobs would be made, how it could help our economy! If you want to think close minded and selfishly, think about the money.

  • @Lireial

consumerism doesn't create jobs. It just wastes recources on a bigger scale (the scope goes beyond the usual observational field of an individe, therefore they do not notice).

It would be nice to keep more pets, produce artificial joke vomit, print more gaming cards etc etc, and therefore give more jobs to commoners, if we had unlimited free energy available. Think before you boldly state your argument.

  • As for ferrets - Portugals concern was that they can endanger local birds etc.

And don't you tell me they will die within few days :D

I imagine you think house cats will do so as well? (maybe survive for few weeks and then die)?

You are seriously underestimating survival abilities of animals. Also where is your proof?

I tell you - if you have few hectares of land with a fine fence around, get 4-5 unspayed ferrets and release them. Check back after a year. They will live on

  • every animal is wild. iv seen cats go farrel and eat peoples birds.iv seen dogs in packs terrorize people. but iv never seen a ferret do such a thing. cats and dogs are more harmfull to american wild life then a ferret will every be.

  • thats like saying snakes are domesticated animal which in fact they are not but you can keep them here in california depend on what kind of snake. Ferrets are wild animal but keep them long enough in captivity they eventually become domesticated BUT still considered wild animals its in their blood. Just like humans we're territorial by nature we dont notice it but we are.

  • Also I would reccomend caging them as little as possible We keep a board across our bedroom door so the ferrets can have the whole room to play in If you cage a ferret it will be quite hyper when you first let it out Thats not how they act normally. A ferret that has alot of room to live in is quite balanced fun and relaxing. They're great pets. !!!
